Finally
Yooo
I really don't know how Hoyo can be so consistent when it comes to music, they release banger after banger and even the ones that are more tame you'll like it when you are in the zone they are designed for.
there’s a lot you can criticize genshin for but one thing i will ALWAYS defend is the music!! i really respect and admire how masterfully the hoyo-mix team has managed to blend the sounds of different cultures and regions and create something unique and beautiful 🙌 or even just bringing to our attention types of music or instruments that a western audience might not be super familiar with
It's so groovy and smooth, it's like house beats but with the regions ethnic genre/style/spirit/tone (whatever you want to call it) there to give it identity to THIS place while connecting to to irl regions that also have the identities they are pulling from. You don't think of other regions hearing this. Fontaine was classical and French jazz, Inazuma was trap/EDM and hōgaku – It makes each place feel new but personal.
On top of the more modern synths and electric guitar, they are using traditional west african instruments for this! The 'xylophone' is Balafon, and the flute is called Tambin.
Marimba
the Flute is sick , i really love the flute sound so much
This gave me such a Pokemon Snap feeling. Like, it has those sounds that you might get on a documentary about ancient history too. Which I suppose makes sense for a trailer featuring these dino-like dragons.
What makes Genshin music (and honestly as a whole) special? The CULTURE.
