  1. I read something about this and yes you are right that was the reason but they could at least give a explanation. I have never seen a company updating their game so much but at the same time being so disconnected from their playerbase. They are just doing their thing and don’t care about what people say. Sometimes I think the surveys are there to keep players silent, to let them think they are heard. I mean why should they change anything seeing so many people constantly spend money on the game. It gives them a confirmation that every decision they did was never wrong.
I know this is not the topic here but that has been on my mind for a while.

  2. yep, many big publishers have at least a few dev studios/dev teams in different places. even something as old as Sonic The Hedgehog, when he jumped to 3d games, had a separate American studio apart from the one in Japan for over 20 years. that's just one example of a company doing it, particularly one that had this type of split, within a single franchise no less, for decades. now yes, communication between devs of similar types of games within a publisher umbrella/friendly nearby teams like Naughty Dog and Insomniac, again around 2 decades ago, helping each other out with Ratchet Clank 2 and Jak & Daxter respectively. that's why Ratchet 2 has a few Easter eggs for Jak & Daxter in it. history lesson over, the issue with Genshin is that teams under MIhoyo don't seem to help each other in the same way or look into how the other teams already found solutions for the same problems they are seeing with Genshin. that is the biggest development criticism i have for them, a little communication either to the players or even internally would fix most issues in Genshin. why the gag orders guys?

  3. TL;DR Hoyo shot themselves in the foot and need to communicate more internally and externally(Different teams and playerbases) so nothing short of life threats are excuses for delay.

This like many other problems that are majority self inflicted by hoyo itself regardless of what many believes or says including this video. Before I continue, not insulting or arguing but, at the end of the day communication is KEY for a lot of things and hoyo has shown they lack that by the metric freaking tonnes and it would help them stave off most of this playerbase animosity whether its bugs in games, glitchy/buggy kits(xinyan/eula/yae) or even problems they werent prepared for(this delay).

Sadly though in this case i dont think any reason they would give here outside patch wasnt finished or there lives being genuinely in danger would sate the playerbase. Reason being I assure you majority of players would give 0 hecks about voice descrepencies unless its mind blowing changes think depressed barbara or keqing with sucrose voice so thats not much of a valid reason ESPECIALLY when only one language out of all wasnt done(according to everyone rushing to hoyo's defense as if they need it at this point).

THis is somewhat a rant but but if this patch doesnt ship near perfect meaning no bugfixes or patches until 2.8 the delay was a massive waste of time and like someone said if they need a break just freaking SAY it. Lastly saw/heard everyone saying different teams.. yeah and? Many companies have them and COMMUNICATE internally to help one another out so yeah another self inflicted wound.

Bonus just in case someone says C19 many business successful or not made an attempt to shift everything to work remotely why is it only hoyo that hasnt done it especially with how much they raking in overall? Sorry for this massive wall of text.

  4. Kinda bullish if you ask me. 3 years of development and they have all money to back the content. Unless they scrap their initial project midway theres no way they cant release the content. Let be honest the feeling of passion for the game really diminishing after the company grown big from Genshin

  5. I wasn’t 1 of the ppl complaining or causing shit over the delays and the lockdown in Shanghai. But anyways, from wat I am understanding hoyo-whatchamawannacallthem is the bosses who decide wat games they want to make, decide on wat goes on in each game, and approves of watever goes on. While there r likely 1 major game per studio of which a game is developed in. It just so happens that the studio that does the production of all things GI is in Shanghai. But all of hoyo-whatchamawannacallthem games r developed in different studios in other cities and countries. Whichever game hoyo-whatchamawannacallthem is getting developed in Montreal, the reason it didn’t get delayed like GI is cuz Montreal didn’t have a lockdown.

But whichever it is I still wish the delay was longer tbh, it wud help me save more primogems and I don’t have time to do all the shit that gets pumped into GI every patch. I intended on using this delay to catch-up on watever I can and want but it looks like not much of that is gonna happen now. For me dragonspine is like half explored, inazuma is like 10% explored, I have yet to even step foot into ekinomia, and I’ve only explored enuf of the chasm to reach the new artifact domain and a few odd and ends along the way. Mondstate is like 95% explored and liyue is like 75% explored.

  6. I mean sure, it isn't an excuse not to have a significantly fleshed out back up plan though. Zero covid is a well known policy, and with the rest of the world throwing up it's hands and saying meh, it was basically a matter of time before lockdowns in major cities in China if they were going to continue zero covid. Genshin literally could have events set up beforehand that are huge crowd pleasers and keep them set up in case of an emergency. The only emergency setup they seem to have had was Liben. I hope everyone comes out of it okay, but the leadership at the studio making Genshin really seems to need to get it's shit together.

Like imagine if we got a 10 pull per week and actual rerun events. Bring back Labyrinth with just a notice that it's reopened. No storyline, just open again for 1 week with a coin shop, same with the other major events. Not to mention, run an actual battle pass. It is the same thing. Every single time. If the delay is less than the normal full duration, you just say screw it everyone that got to a certain level of it gets the rewards, or just make it shorter, like what was actually planned. Toss in alternating weeks of overflowing mastery. Hell give us a rerun of the falling stars event in the meantime. Most of the people playing probably weren't even there. Not like they delete the code for it. People wouldn't be bailing, they'd be joining.

  7. The patch I understand being delayed but the battlepass and event wasn't really acceptable. You can argue that the banner extension was helpful to some people but no battlepass and a event that didn't fully work is unacceptable.

  8. Ah, thanks for this! I didn't realise the other games could fully function from the other locations. I assumed the main stuff was all done in Shanghai, so was unsure what was going on.

  9. I already knew that but I guess some people didn't know that different studios and teams are working on each game and not the same team for all MiHoYo games.

  10. That's pretty obvious but any opportunity to bash Genshin is a good opportunity since it's well known by now, more popular game = stingier rewards, weaker units, harsher monetization, less QoL, more of the same instead of any exciting new feature.
It's Mihoyo's fault for wanting to be the rug you wipe your shoes on every day out of habit instead of aiming for a more positive role. This is why you don't treat your players as an unwanted waste of server resources, they will treat you the same way in response.

  11. Asking "Why Genshin is delayed?" is a dumb thought. It should be "Why did Hoyoverse kept the rotational content out of the game?" And yeah, they come back with a beat a dumb drum event. Yeah, Genshin. The open world action game that I saw on ads. That game, hehehehehe

  12. Asking for a official statement on the reason behind the delay is not bad. Not everyone knows what is going on in Shanghai. Those of Us in Reddit, Twitter and YouTube regularly follow what is going on with the Game, but not all have the time or interest in it. There are some Who don't even know the conflict in Ukraine (and the impact it is having on Semiconductor industry). If Mihoyo/Hoyoverse had released an official statement in game when the delay was first decided would have helped so many understand Their condition and also to wait patiently with knowledge of the reason. Mihoyo/Hoyoverse being silent on this matter for such a long time before announcing the delay just takes away the trust part from Them. The World is chaotic and not everything can be delivered as promised, but with not information about it official made available, it will be very hard to maintain order from the consumer point of view.
This is like ordering Food online and it being delayed without it being addressed until the moment You are expected to wait patiently (that too without opening the reason up which puts You in a dilemma if You should wait or cancel the order and make alternative arrangements).

  13. Although I absolutely agree with you that the delay did seem self explanatory I saw many many people ask what was happening and why. Some even went as far as telling me I was an idiot for believing the Shanghai explanation since and I quote “programmers can work from home…”. Anyway, Seeing as once again part of the Genshin player base was riled up, why didn’t hoyoverse simply explain it instead of letting people run free with their conspiracy explanations ?

  14. I agree with what you said but I also think its a valid question. Bad optics when you have new things going on and almost radio silence on the delays with the main game. Leaks again gave more explanation to what may have happened than the publishers themselves.

This may also be a subtle reminder from the community to have plan B just incase another "outside their control" happens again.

  15. I'm so sorry to hear you have to deal with explaining this stuff to babies. Most of who understand this don't really need an explanation. Most of those who don't understand it just CAN NOT understand it. …but I appreciate you making the effort to do it and set yourself up as a possible target. Lol

  16. the delay in it self is ok. for a good reason even. the problem is its show how there 0 end game. they make this game live on path to patch. it do not help that 2.7 is a really weak patch . it may have a good side story but this will last for a weak. as events go there nothing that take time. so its still be a game you log in do all the things you can do today in 1h max and log off. the new charecter are bad. on top of it we did not even see sumeru

  17. You know the joke about stuffs made in china are low quality and shit like that ? turns out, even china stuff that made in china is also the same, it really a coincidence how literally their other games, in other studio, are better in term of quality of life, content and all that, but that only ONE game, that made in shanghai, is the shittiest of them all, bad quality of life, devs don't care, no content, even other stuff like the generosity is also cheap as shit, they give people piss poor of a gems for a very long delay period. So it sound like a joke but the stereotype is not even wrong in this case

  18. i think the guy asking was asking if the shaghai studio were the ones who were involved with genshin, which you answered, "yes."
i dont think he was trying to roast them in any way 🙂
it makes me think about their future and i hope that in a good way, with the employees being happy, to actually do relocate to singapore (cognosphere).

  19. lol, i like how everyone is assuming wether the delay is genuine or not while Mihoyo don't even give a proper statement regarding delay and what's the reason behind it

  20. If the voice acting was the reason it was delayed, it would have most likely been the cn dub. Maybe they could have released the patch earlier without the cn dub then add it further in the updates but seeing as how it is it might create more problems for other people, like those who use the cn dub.
