i really like tartaglia, ty.
Wow this blew me away as your analysis did of course. Keep up the great work!
Honestly I love the way they've written Tartaglia. I love the way he's said that he's down to betray the Fatui and side with us if he can keep fighting us as we grow stronger. That single-minded devotion toward obtaining power spawned from being trapped in the abyss when he was younger is just so fascinating
Love this video… I agree with your take on Tartaglia.. really love the morally grey characters which is why I usually watch seinen shows. I hope we get to discover more of his character once his master "Skirk" appears
Thankfully his death is coming soon 🙌🏻
If someone believes that they are doing the right thing, they have no reason to ask for redemption, simple as that. Snezhnaya believes that they are fighting a greater war and cause and believes that everything they do while endangering the rest of Teyvat will bring a better future.
In Honkai we have a group of people from the previous era who tried every method possible to stop the End, even methods that would remove humanity from what being "human" is about to survive past the end. They are neither villains nor heroes, just people who tried everything possible to save as much as possible, Snezhnaya is doing the same.
Tartaglia is the OG whale. Bankrolled Zhongli at his peak, and also literally throws a whale at you.
Disagree though on your summary of his character.
Yes, unapologetic, but i think you are de-emphasizing his intelligence. Him asking us "whats wrong with being a weapon?" was startingly deep.
you are correct he IS unapologetic, but i think your accidently inferring he is thoughtless. Children have wisdom adults seem to misplace. His attitudes are childish, as in expressed with simple statements. but this man works, thinks, and states admiration those who operate on the national level. ITS NOT a coincidence he was chilling with zhongli.
Personally, I can see tartaglia saying "If" if he had been an ancient spartan general. (excelent history story, the spartan if)
the passive aggressive comments about Scaramouche 😦😦
LITTLE SHITSTAIN MCGEE
I hate Tartaglia from a personal standpoint but I love his character as an anomaly of morals and I love Traveller's relationship with him. There are strong parallels with Tart and Traveller, being how they'd go through thick and thin for their sibling, and how their actions are morally dubious.
Yes Tartaglia almost whiped Liyue off the map, but Traveller has also killed many hilichurls, rifthounds, treasure hoarders, and plenty in their journey. Traveller may be wary of Tartaglia, but Traveller themself is nothing better. Tartaglia's sheer devotion to the Tsaritsa and to his family is a consequence of his upbringing, and Traveller's jadedness and apathy of Teyvat's affairs is also a consequence of their constant search for their sibling and answers but recieving none. Both aren't "villains" or "heroes" but just following the threads of fate.
I think Tartaglia and Traveller's dynamic is of mirroring each other, one doing questionable actions for the good and love of his family, and the other pretty much saving the world every hour just wanting to get the fck outa there. The only thing I hate about Tartaglia is that he's ugly. Thank you for listening to my TedTalk :))
Your channel icon made me mistake you for the little onion that could or whatever the other channel was called
The one thing that I feel would bring our dear Pop Tart to a "redemption", or at least as close as he can get, is if his loyalty to the Fatui and his family were to clash at some point. I have a strong feeling he would choose the latter but even then, that's not necessarily a true "redemption", he likely won't admit any of his past actions or his former loyalty to the Fatui were wrong, it simply will be that one wins over the other.
Love your vids so much and hope to see more of this series!!
I really hope Scara didnt get mind wiped
I also hope none of the harbingers become these goody tissues, they have done horrible stuff or seem to care little about others
I want to keep that even when I play
Like “ugh I tolerate you because I need you.”
“Happy birthday…… what? Want more? No”
Stuff like that still enemies only partners because we need each other for whatever reason
i have to agree, in my mind childe's story quest didnt redeem him, it just solidified the fact that he is in fact a villain, that despite all of the good things that he did, he unapologetically is proud of his crimes and the terror he unleashed, he ravels in it.
he is not even really an anti hero, he actively works against the progress of the main character, sure he lent a hand here and there but that was mostly due to coincidence of them being against similar foes or childe's inner urge to unleash his power.
i would actually disagree on your final comment and say that if scaramouche can become an ally then it's even less likely for childe to do so, scaramouche was shown to have been manipulated by the fatui, have memory problems which caused him to misremember and in general be in self denial about himself, now obviously none of these abolish him of his own crimes, but they do provide a better background for a reawakened villain who wants to become someone better.
childe on the other hand is done, his motivations are fully known and complete, to protect his family and (for now) the tsaritsa, sure he explains how his lust for power trumps almost all but it's clear he does not feel guilty about not doing the right thing, in his mind the only "right thing" is whatever gets the mission done for the tsaritsa and to protect his family.
in this sense childe is a much more strong willed character than scaramouche and i would argue significantly less likely to ally with the travel, maybe potentially leave the tsaritsa's control, but as he has already noted before he is not a man of greater meaning, if he does abandon the tsaritsa, it would only be for 2 reasons, to specifically protect his family or to seek more personal power, a vague concept like protecting the world will probably not convince him.
That’s it, from now on I’m stealing your nickname and calling Scaramouche Shitstain McGee.
The harbingers obsession with the tsaritsas plan is interesting to say the least, i really want to know what the cryo archon is up to
Umm can we do master varka? Cause well alot of people kind of think of him as a slacker but he's not!
speaking of tartaggles, why can we find him in Chinju forest playing with yoimiya and the kids?? Went there for the photo-taking event and am unsure of whether he’s been there the entire time now
honestly, within the fandom, tartaglia is one of the most mischaracterized characters in genshin impact. a lot of people tend to see him in parts rather than a whole. and just showcase him as either a family forward big brother type or a sadistic battle maniac. but that duality is part of what makes his character so engaging to me! (and many others as well). I don't think tartaglia needs a redemtion arc either, I hope he remains an antagonist and we get a possible rematch with him somewhere down the line!
ohhh do a dive into sucrose and how a fox enyoy ancestor migrated to mondstadt:) there’s a book abt a fox teaching a hunter how to change forms or something u probably know what book i mean ur smart n knowledgeable:)
He's not morally grey, he is evil.
He actually separates his work life and non-work life.
"Trabaho lang, walang personalan"
haha "little sh*t's thing mcgee"
