Just keeping it real with you guys. My expectations were EXTREMELY low and hence why what Hoyoverse did ended up exceeding them. It's definitely nothing special but doing more than nothing in the end is a big thumbs up to how bad it could of ended up as. I'm done setting a bar for Hoyoverse. If I want to continue enjoying the game I gotta live in reality and stop setting myself and others up to fail. Staying level with what Hoyoverse is likely to deliver is the ONLY way to find any resemblance of joy playing Genshin Impact and I urge everyone to try it as well.
They are learning. They are willing to keep trying. The livestream was awesome. The scenarios are really good. They could end up getting a theme park at some point. I think overall the patch will be amazing and the anniversary rewards this time around is well balanced. Genshin is a gacha game but not focused on the gacha. Their other projects, being the concert, the anime (by ufotable too, that is an amazing studio), everything they do, they are trying to give their best to us. So let's give them the benefit of doubt once more and enjoy the marvelous story up ahead

Nilou is a Bloom DPS character and I thank devs for spelling that out in the live stream. She wants all Hydro and Dendro units because they haven't shown the kit.
Cyno is probably going to want to Hyperbloom because overload is not fun with a melee character knockback on most enemies. Dendro MC has been putting in the work with Kuki/Ayato team. So I'm excited to get Cyno and it is most likely we will get Nahida in 3.2-3.3 because Mihoyo will not want to keep their Archon units in jail for much longer… lol I got Kuki by losing my 50/50 on Itto's banner so I've been saving since then and as a hard end game player since launch, I'm looking for fun units as I have 4 teams for abyss now… IT IS TIME!!!
It's kind of a mixed bag. There are some bright spots though. The TCG being permanent content is great, I just hope it's not permanent content like fishing is permanent content, where they leave it in the game but give no incentive to actually do it.
The story will probably be a bright spot, and that's typical.
The anniversary rewards are bad considering this is the 2nd go around. It's basically repeat last year. Which is dumb as hell considering they have viable competition and generally these things get better as they go on. It's another situation of we could have added literally one more thing, but whoever is controlling the purse strings is too stubborn/blind to see it.
The anime I'm pretty excited for, but it's far off probably.
I'm not excited for a free collei in abyss, because Collei isn't good.
I'm skipping Cyno and Nilou, both of them seem subpar, and the way they've been designing 4 stars, they aren't worth even a dollar even if you could buy them outright.
Genshin is basically on permanent maintenance mode for me. I login, do the stuff, leave and go spend money in ToF and play that instead. I have noticed the time I'm playing it steadily decrease though.
I’ve been excited for dottore to appear in game ever since I read the manga around a year ago so 3.1 is a huuuge deal for me I literally cannot wait
I'm excited for 3.1. The desert part is going to be as big as the rainforest and I think people are going to be blown away by it.
What a difference in fanbases. In CN, the fans literally took their time and created a fan created festival with all the art and animation to celebrate the game for the 2nd anniversary. Global fans are still complaining about the lack of free stuffs. Hoyoverse isn't going to change, so if you don't like it, move on.
This update makes me excited to play again (been sucked into tower of fantasy) fun gameplay (frankly drastically better world mobility than genshin) and it gives me an opportunity to save for dehya a little too bad im missing out on Candice but can't wait to c6 her too.
Honestly it's fine to be burnt out and I'm happy to skip stuff, i enjoyed the story a ton when Yelan released the Xiao story was fantastic and it added to the world and what little I've played with tighnari and collie hasn't had me excited in the least so far but i know nilou and Dehya looks possibly exciting so just have to push past this stuff I don't enjoy to get to the good stuff.

The lack of Dehya for the next few patches put a damper on the whole thing. Why isn't she even in 3.0? She's obviously pivotal in the storyline.

I've been on a relatively long hiatus from Genshin since early Inazuma and coming back to it with all of the content that has come out, especially with Sumeru and 3.1 on the horizon, has honestly rekindled my love for the game and its really nice to see.

I played through all of 3.0 story and it was the worst experience yet. The archon quest story was not terrible in of it's self if it was a comic or movie but as a vidya gaem it was extremely tedious. I don't like how the writers failed to make me care about any of the Sumeru cast and worst of all they made me dislike the archon for being an untrustworthy liar. When the traveller calls the archon out for being a liar she just hand waves it away.
I mean… I don’t suspect Hoyoverse to give us a better anniversary rewards yet until I guess they decided to do something big or not.
I’m still going to get Cyno and Nilou,I honestly truly like of what I see and I definitely love Nilou design so I am definitely here for it.
Imagine adding an entire new permanent activity in the game yet it doesn’t reward you anything. Lol I swear you can’t make this stuff up

There is nothing but time exclusive event, new stuff or thing. but there is no 'improvement'. So thats why people burn out waiting for it. When there is improvement, those people who burnt out got something to refresh

"dead game let's all go to tower of fantasy" Bruh I've been playing ToF since release and that game will end up being a whale fest, all free to play / light spenders are leaving already because the game is so pay 2 win it's not even funny lol Genshin is way more accessible to f2p and low spenders than ToF will ever be.
Serious question, where peoples expectations really low? On every comment I see before the livestream last year and this year, I see people demanding standard 5 star weapons or characters at minimum, I know it’s YouTube comments which is like, 0.1% of the players, idk. It’s just jarring.
I have called it that the game escalation point if it were to happen at all would begin here in Sumeru, this is based around how most single player rpg games work and the general rule of climax and the phases before and after it. Mihoyo hinted at an escalation with the fatui harbingers trailer. The harbingers are upset with la signora dying and they plan to pay in kind the loss. Also Sumeru being the 4th region of the 8 known chapters/regions openly planned. Also i mentioned early on at the previous 3.0 livestream how suspicious the absence of fatui was suspicious given their big statements in hushed whispers. The fatui have in each successive region been far more of a influence for destruction and destabilization so i see this trend only increasing. I'm not a writer of professional grade like you Walruss but i am a pretty natural talented amateur in this field.
I actually worked on the story today because I want to play through the story being added in 3.1 since it looks like it'll be really fun. I only ever play the story when I feel like it because I want to enjoy it rather than rush to it for the rewards or just to have access to the main event of an update. As long as I still have time I don't want to rush anything. Anniversary rewards are eh tho in my opinion. I guess the retainer bot buddy we get is cool, but the rewards are still not too exciting.
I won't be spending much money on this game but the Music, the storyline, the voice acting is just too good to ditch this game.
Livestream was a good one to me objectively but I can understand why some people were thinking of it as more negatively since they correlated the livestream with the Anni. Honestly the rewards for the game are not great and seems bare minimum besides the flying pet. I like that guy. However I don't agree with some saying that them revealing the anime was a gift which in reality its not. It's just something coming out later and doesn't increase my excitement for the anniversary personally. People are excited for the new story content is nice but just because it's coming out on the anniversary doesn't make it feel like one since they were already going to always put put more story anyways. Just my opinion. However I like multiple events at once thing so you have more to do.
Im surprised they didnt give like… Free 50 blue fate pulls or something. Thats what other gachas do… They give an insane amount of free pulls on their standard / permanent banner, because they know the standard banner isnt exactly the flavor of the month characters, and wont affect their sales in the long run…

I got very mesmerized by the 3.1 contents the the mondstadts festival also hinting about Razor's parents excites me… 20 pulls and a cute new pet aight I'll take it glady it's a free game and it could've gone much much worse, and ey the Anime also is a hype…it really caught me off guard in the end I fell of my chair XD

Personally overall while I do enjoy 3.1 I think some resources and time spent could had been better used to fix the current game issues like resin, artifacts, having to be all caught up to level up the newest character, stuff like that I do enjoy the rewards and the content though wish they gave us like 3-4 costumes to celebrate the anniversary I do at least enjoy the game itself though maybe they probably could had also upped how many gems we get from login but thats a small nitpick
TLDR: I enjoy the content and updates but rather if they spent some more time on actually fixing the game
