This is Why Honkai Star Rails Meta is (Probably) Changing Forever and becoming closer to Genshin Impact. Currently, the HSR community believes the only meta way to efficiently clear MoC (Memory of Chaos) is by using Hyper Carry-anything. There are some arguments to be made for Dual-DPS or DoT Comps (Damage over Time), but my theory is that Honkai Star Rail has been slowly changing their meta to evolve into something similar to Genshin Impact over the last few patches. With the release of characters like Ruan Mei, Black Swan, Topaz, & the coming Galaxy Ranger Acheron… You might want to start preparing now before it’s too late.

For me personally, the hypercarry teams are so boring… I can't stand playing like this for longer periods, so I switched things around. I am glad that the game is pushing players slightly in that newer, more interesting direction. Also cryptic stuff about Acheron .. yeah I do understand why you're doing this but still – it's quite funny when you beat around the bush like that. o/
I think the biggest difference between team building in Genshin vs Star Rail is enemies having type weakness. Raiden National is strong because it works consistently against most enemies in the game unless they have specific elemental immunities, but in Star Rail you generally want to plan your team around enemy weaknesses which requires having more than just 2 go to teams you can load in against whatever.
Random thought…anybody else want to see an event/content that restricts to 4 star units?
Ya it seems there going on set characters. Like Kafka and BS , Or Ratio and Topaz
First 2min in the video and u are using genshin to explain why hsr meta's gonna change :v 🤦
They are moving away from hyper carry because the only way to add to it is power creep. By pushing other archetypes they can delay power creep
Whats the team you have to run with she who will be named?
Ruan Mei really made all my characters perform so well ! As an f2p the next time i want to pull for a limited 5 star harmony unit is when i feel like we have another universal team wide buffer like Ruan Mei.
i would use both dr ratio and topaz but the reason im not using both of them is because of the unfortunate fact that you would need e1s1 for topaz to work with him but aint no way i got that much jades so i guess im using SW instead. i'm just hoping that soon hsr releases an insane FUA character like dr ratio but without needing debuffs so that topaz becomes more usable for me.
ye ye ye ok
players always whining about this is luxury that is luxury but seriously are they not using their gems at all?
7:59 what the hell is that weakness break. Like 70percent weakness break 😮
The minute i broke myself from the shackles of always using Bronya (even though it pains me to do so with her E2) i feel like my team comps have gotten more fluid. I think the smartest thing Hoyo could have done was give us all Ratio for free since the way he works does not work "optimally" with Bronya so he doesn't neatly fit the mold of Hypercarry.
I actually made a video about this a good while back because I noticed a lot of dps units starting to have something in their kit that gave them some support.
Personally I think hyper carry will always be an easy and viable way to play BUT I do think they will try to encourage new team comps with restrictions that reward you for following them or have the dps unit provide some sort of support that would be good if you brought another dps to synergize with the support they bring.
Good video as always. Not going to lie 😅 at first I was confused why we were trying to compare genshin teams to star rail. Comparing ruan mei to nahida or dot to cores didn’t make much sense to me. Would make more sense if you went with burning and possibly a new poison that when hit with lightning retriggered both of something 😂 but I’m making shit up
Man that was not supah easy to follow, some part were a bit messy or cryptic. Like "that character I won't name but I'll talk about…"
Yukong ultimate boost other teammates so you can build kinda of a reverse Raiden National
I kindly recommend you please do not cook with the Genshin comparisons. You need to leave the kitchen and stop cooking, my guy is burning the water.
I dont like that the move toward much more niche teams means unless youre pulling every character, new characters coming out can feel sh*t because they rely on previously run characters and trying to make a team becomes a 6 month (or more) process of waiting for reruns for those other team pieces to come back out of the virtual vault. All the while new characters are still getting flooded into the game that you may really vibe with that character but then they also feel sh*t to pull because it means maybe not having enough when that rerun comes and then you end up with a whole bunch of half teams and the enjoyment of the game plummets as the end game content outpaces you.
"DoT is comparable to Hyperbloom" is kind of an interesting statement. I kinda see where you're going with it. I would probably say that Kafka is Kuki and Black Swan is Yelan in that example though Ruan Mei is definitely Nahida too. ^^ It'll be interesting to see your top 5 teams of the game, cause thinking about it I'd probably put several hypercarry teams there.
I feel like the drama is a bleed over effect of people hyper fixating on early 4 stars from genshin. Aka "these are the only characters you NEED to build"
Im said rn I dont have SW for Acheron, I hope they release a Nihility 4* or 5* that has sinergy with her.
Turn based game always end up with some wacky team strat down the line because of ur team really depends on the enemies/content that dev cook up
like u can expect no sustain double nihility that will weaken enemies attack to survive.
Double sustain matter content.
enmity type team where u intentionally let your team mate die for buff.
a Pokemon trainer team where all of ur party member has a summon.
but just like any gacha game, this team will cycle depending on the content and im glad that HSR enemies/content are actually challending and interesting unlike genshin Spiral abyss
Not a hyper carry main player. Unless I play QQ and Sparkle is coming QQ SW Sparkle Lynx (no Fu Xian) or QQ Bronya Sparkle and a sustain. And I use dual DPS to compensate my damage not having dedicated LC for most of my DPS I only have Blade's LC and I have Jing yuan, Jingliu and DHIL. Also I dont have a DoT team because I lost 50/50 with Kafka and SW with Welt e1s1 so I guess acheron is next after sparkle.
I really enjoyed the jingliu stat stick hyper carry but really found it lacking in.. well fun i guess after a while. Big numbers are cool but it was essentially the same 5-7 characters mostly swapping supports.
But since Ruan released and i got lucky (or unlucky, i really just wanted Xueyi and ended up with an e2 Ruan) coupled with just general team crisis, the games been far more enjoyable using a variety, and even finding unique new comps and combos
I agree with the HSR portion but please NEVER try to use Genshin teambuilding again unless you have someone who really knows what they are talking about walking you through it. You got hyperbloom mostly right, there are a few things in there that don't really make sense but whatever. Rational being compared to hypercarry however, is awful. The comparison between the two is that they are the most popular team comps of their respective game, and they have some core units and some that can potentially switch. the comparison really ends there. in Rational, and most National comps, the highest dps is Xiangling. calcs put her at about 50% of the total team dps, and the next is Raiden, only then followed by Yelan. The main purpose for Raiden being there is not her personal damage, although it is certainly appreciated, it is her providing energy for the team so you can afford more damage stats, and providing electro to make electrocharged so Xiangling can both overload and vape at the same time. also the rotation is so messed up. The proper rotation is Raiden E, Yelan Q N1(N_ means normal attack _ times in this case 1), Bennet QN1E, Xiangling QN1EN1D(dash), Yelan N2E, Raiden n1Q, go through her uptime, Yelan N1E N2 Bennet N1 e. More often you will see Raiden E, and then go Yelan > Bennet > Xiangling > Raiden using Q E on all of them and fitting N1's where you can. Never have I seen or heard about the rotation you talked about. ALSO, there is literally a team archetype that Raiden can fit into called hypercarry, which actually does what you were talking about (not the rotation part but the general idea). The freeze comparison was fine ig, but it didn't really feel like it added anything, if you took it out the video would be shorter but still say everything it should say.
Question.. why not name the characters? I don't know where to find this info and it seems a shame you wouldn't name them or the comp just as information. It'd be interesting to know, and now I sort of feel like I don't know any more than before I watched the video.
I think sparkle is bringing forth every 4* DPS as almost all of them want to skill every turn
I seriously think a freeze team is coming outside of SU. 5 star March 8th will lead it as an exclusive remembrance path .Misha is just an envoy for it.
Fantastic video man, a chill and understanding point of view of the game. Def subscribed
My pain is that ive had a dream that im going to be rewarded for focusing hard on nihility and follow up attacks as my main two teams, but for mysterious dream reasons, the jades between those two rewards are gonna be extremely tight 😭
Maybe I'm not up to date on the leaks but who is Acheron screaming to be paired with that Iyo is referencing?
This man said "I want partner on twitch" but never streams. Make it make sense.
I always loved my hypercarry teams, e.g. I was a Xiao main in GI and my other team was Itto team.
Here I play and probably will keep playing DHIL E2 as my main, there is just something I find extrmeley satisfying about vertical rather than horizontal investment, I am pretty sure I will go for E6 DHIL as time passes.
I do agree tho that they will keep pushing more niche teams, as for whether they will keep pushing double-triple DPS team I think they will push whatever they wanna sell at the time they wanna sell it, I do think tho that 2.0+ wil be more double DPS oriented, but I d not be surprised if 3.0 will introduce new paths and change things up further, as they should.
Playing both games since their releases. This video was confusing as hell despite understanding team building and consistently max starring abyss/MoC as an f2p enjoyer. Not sure why you had to go through such a roundabout way of simply saying ''Teams are becoming more focused rather than all purpose, adding variety to the game''.
I skipped Ruan Mei and didn't regret it one bit and it snot because I didn't have the money (I whale on this game anyway) or resources I just didn't care for her atm. Sparkle is gonna benefit my team in mono quantum way more. I been full clearing MoC every reset without Ruan Mei and if I want her I'll just pick her up during her rerun simple as that.
I mean… whether they come out strong or not, I was probably gonna get them hoping that one day I get to eventually stop working 24/7 and pay attention to my Waifus. This video bangs though! I'm hyped to see you grow!
