You legit don't have to justify yourself choosing to do… game activities…. in the game playthrough??? Anyone who gets their panties in a bunch just needs to chill tf out.
1:57:38 fun fact Calvin! this book "A legend of sword" was actually written by Xingqiu and illustrated by albedo!
Not Young Sheldon 2.5 ajf;asjfka;fj;sd
1:26:06 I think it’s very interesting to hear you make that kind of association. You definitely have the right to relate to themes that were important in your country’s history and I love to learn stuff like that. I do feel the Inazuma story (and Sumeru btw) is a veiled stab from Hoyo at their own government though, and they just had to look the other way because Lyue does such a good Job promoting chinese culture. I appreciate how smart this game is and how deep this story can go. People can choose to disregard it as “just a gacha game” but that’stheir loss anyway
1:47:27 Alhaitham (you’ve inverted the syllables when reading lol) is Kaveh’s “roomate” actually, so if you wish for him, you can have the couple. I’m saving my primos for later, but if not I’d wish for Clorinde. They’re both beautiful and good characters but I had a lot more fun testing her out
"Of course they're exaggerations. Obviously we don't have skin of steel."
I mean… you were blasted by a huge energy wave into the side of a cliff and just got dazed. I'd say the Traveler's physical toughness is actually on the level of some metals, ngl. lol
I personally prefer alhaitham as he is easy to use and has good reactions, being dendro. But it’s up to you 🙂
Watasumi island is by far one of my favorite locations because of it's beauty. I think when the full game is out, I'll make a list on twitter of my fav Genshin locations because this one is up there lol.
6:55 Really weird that they had enemies from other nations in the character trials! I don't remember they ever doing that before, especially so many of them! Oh well, you'll still have plenty of new enemies to see in the other nations anyway.
25:30 I think the pacing is nice too. Mixing up world quests and exploration with the archon quest is good, and by not doing all World Quests right away, you'll be able to continue mixing them up with the many Story Quests that come up after the Archon Quests as well.
It was by the way a sin, that you looked closer at Clorinde's animations in the test run but not at Alhaitham's. 😉 He's so cool when he's dual weilding and and kicking his sword.
Charecter-wise alhaitham is more interesting i would say like hes just tired…
You said about getting Bennett's constellations from this banner. I feel like it's important to warn you that Bennett's 6th constellation is controversial, and not everyone activates it. Since there is no way of deactivating a constellation, I think it's important to think carefully if you want to activate Bennett's C6 or not (in case you get it).
This constellation makes every character with a Sword, Claymore, or Polearm inside of Benny's Burst to have their weapon infused with Pyro. This means all of their physical attacks will instead be Pyro attacks. In your Eula team for example, if Eula gets inside of his Burst, her Normal Attacks will start only dealing Pyro damage, which not only can mess up with the reactions you're trying to trigger, but also can make she do less damage depending on your Artifacts and Weapons, since most of her damage is Physical and the kit you set up for her is probably focused around that Physical damage.
The constellation also gives Pyro damage bonus to any character on the Burst as well, so it can be good in certain teams though.
I haven't activated my Bennett's 6th constellation even though I had it for some time already. Benny is already really good normally, and I think giving Pyro infusion on other characters would only restrict how many teams I can have him on.
Clorinde is a more dedicated charecter and she does her duty well. While alhaitham does his job because he has to. Alhaitham is definitely my favourite out of them because he's kinda funny in a sense
Clorinde is pretty unique, so I would go for her! But Alheitham is great as well 👍
As for whether you should do archon quest, story, or world quests – please do whatever you feel you will enjoy the most! 😊 There are some world quests in Inazuma that are very long and quite rich in lore! (like Moon-Bathed Deep, Serai Stormchasers) And as you have seen story quests in Inazuma are pretty awesome too! In general, whatever you do, I think you'll enjoy it 😊
I saved for so long for Clorinde. I wanted her since her introduction in one of the Fontaine trailers because she reminds me so much Bloodborne. And she has not disappointed, she's so much fun to play, and zooming across the battlefield is really enjoyable. It's up to you of course who you wanna go for but I can really recommend Clorinde.
Loved that episode. Watatsumi Island is still one of my favorite places in the entire game, the music there is top tier and makes me really nostalgic.
God, Watatsumi island is so beautiful! To this day its still in my top 5 most beautiful places in the entire game. This whole piece of art is more than just a game, and the story quests in this game are a fundamental aspect of its beauty. That world quest directly to your left at 1:15:00 is the start of one of my top 3 story quest lines in the game, I really cant wait until you eventually get to experience it!
Im happy to be able to re-live this game through your playthrough!!
so.. the new banner huh? …kaveh nation we lost
10:47 Calvin you're too 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 for your own good (just like me fr)
The Watatsumi world quests lead to some insane stuff. Looking forward to Sun and Moon.
You're worrying way too much about spoilers with those trials
33:52 the reason for that is these samurai are restless spirits. By killing them, you're releasing them and they can finally rest. You will notice that they have black smoke around them. Hence, why "finally, I…"
Please don't rely too much on normal attack except for Eula. Genshin named Genshin for a reason
1:48:21 when i cant choose i do like a one wish per each banner – one wish on this character one wish on the other, then again one on this, one in that, and i let the destiny to decide 🤪
If you ever try sethos again please use his charged attack
Also remember yanfei uses charged attack once her seals are maxed for high damage
We call teams of all one element mono-element teams eg monopyro monogeo monoanemo etc.
Calvin, the artifact you got from Adventure Rank level up is the best artifact to have on Bennett.
Very much the correct reaction to Alhaitham, man is fine. I'm enjoying the inazuma acorn quest, and there are natural breaks in it I feel, where it does seem like you should just go out and explore, it does literally drive you across three islands with little time to explore.
Way I approach the new banner is like…skip on Alhaitham cause I have Nahida.
Went for Clorinde cause of drip market and she is one of 3 characters who uses a gun. And the 2nd five star that uses a gun. Plus she self heals
But honestly pull for who you like regardless of meta or waifu/husbando
Sethos is a bit complicated. Since he switches between normal attacks (which get considered charge-damage) and charge-attacks depending on what mode he's in, and eats energy to empower his attacks. Though he's VERY easy to build. 4pc Wanderer's Troupe. Done. His energy management can be somewhat tricky without C6 (C6 refunds all the energy he consumes to empower his attacks though on a cooldown), so if you do decide to dump in for Clorinde and Alhaithim, hopefully get him to C6.
getting Thoma to C6 would also be helpful as it allows his burst to provide a powerful buff to normal/charge/plunge attacks (works best with Scara since you need to do normal attacks to trigger it, but Xiao could also use it as long as you mix in a normal attack every 2 pogos).
Bennet C6 is a mixed blessing as while it enables some new teams (Razor's best team, and also helpful for some Cloud Retainer teams), it also makes him incapable of working with some other characters (i.e. Eula and Keqing completely break if used with C6 Bennet), since his burst will apply a pyro infusion that overwrites some characters infusions and completely breaks their kits. I.e. Eula builds for physcial damage but C6 Bennet will convert her attacks into Pyro while she's in his burst. Though it's not too bad as supports have come out that largely replaced Bennet in those teams anyway or they got even better teams that don't use Bennet anyway. (i.e. Keqing is pretty much all Hyperbloom/Quicken these days, which doesn't want Bennet at all. And Eula has Mika for physical support that provides a similar level of damage buff to what Bennet would've given. Ayaka has Shenhe etc).
Sethos plays a bit like Lyney as he focuses on lvl2 charge attacks until he bursts which puts him into normal attack mode. His focus on EM stacking and low base damage practically makes it mandatory to play him in Quicken teams.
1:57:47 “we buying all of this” he said and then haven’t bought Flowers for Princess Fischl
Mono-teams are that are composed mostly/all one element.
Typically you cheat a bit an include an anemo for grouping/VV Debuff but since they can swirl the element of the party, they somewhat count as a damage dealer of that type, while also giving you someone that can kill destroy same-element shields.
Mono-Geo typically goes full Geo, since Gorou is the primary Geo support and he needs 3 Geo (including himself) to achieve his full power. And at that point you might as well go all in since the only option that might work is Bennet.
Yun-jin has some minor bonuses for having unique elements (but not required and works MUCH better in a mono-geo team) and Navia wants 2 Geo and 2 of some crystalizable elements to provide ammo for her gun.
Ningguan has no particular preference but double Geo is at least recommended to enable Geo resonance as there's not many ways to reduce geo resistance otherwise and it gives a nice damage buff when moving through her screen (she can also do decent geo energy gen when C2+ and her burst can hit like a truck with proper set-up). She pairs well with Bennet, so Noelle/Ningguan/Gorou/Bennet could be an interesting team. She can be both a solid main-dps and sub-dps.
Mono-teams typically focus on reducing resistances and providing massive amount of energy so characters can run very little energy recharge. But can hit a wall if they run into element immune enemies or abyss-shields of that element. (shields that buff resistance but don't completely stop damage you can basically ignore with VV's debuff active).
Cheveruse is a bit unique in that she's a duo-element focused support, which requires pyro and electro, AND ONLY pyro and electro to function. But provides a basically free -40% resistance shred to pyro and electro to any enemy damaged by overload, and doesn't even need to be on-field.

Bond of Life is a Fontaine mechanic that consumes healing done to the character and is normally something you DON"T want (it's normally applied by some enemies though a few Fontaine crafted weapons will also provide bond of life and give you some bonus for getting rid of it), but a few characters (currently Arlechinno and Clorinde) get benefits for high Bond of Life and will gain it via their kits. They also typically have some means of removing Bond of Life or healing themselves through it. But can be squishy and definitely benefit from a having a shielder since shields are unaffected by Bond of Life.
The main big gimmicks of Fontaine is consumption of HP, healing, or preventing healing. Also the Pnuma-Ousia mechanic (which is likely why they included Fontaine enemies, which is exclusive to Fontaine characters and enemies (though you do get a sword eventually that lets any sword user trigger pneuma or Ousia depending on what aspect you've currently aligned it to)). Basically if you use a character who is aligned to the opposite element against an enemy you can either negate certain abilities or at least stun them.
happy pride month to calvin drooling over alhaitham's muscles
I NEED you to know how happy your videos make me I swearr they’re the best part of my week
