those first bad impressions are very accurate, genshins an ok game, has potential to be much better but it will never be, and ive played since day 1 and i even play other gacha moble games

I've been playing f2p for 2 years now and I'm pretty satisfied with my account.
i've been playing since day one. i will say i don't like dailies. i do them in the morning JUST so i can have a free character. i don't really spend more than a 100 bucks in for a character. i have every character except for wanderer. and all 4 star characters at 6 constellations… oh yeah… and fuck weapon banners. they are a scan i'll never do them ever again. just do the game with 4 star weapons and the 5 star weapons you'll get at random for getting the free 5 star banner ones. games good but it does get annoying logging in every day. if you don't wanna spend money you have to do dailies… if you don't mind spending… don't log in unless you want to play that day. plain and simple… otherwise i enjoy it still after 2 years. hoyoverse is like a cheap business man. don't expect anything out of them on events besides a 10 draw… yeah they are that cheap >.>
Im playing for 2 years. I took some smalls breaks, but im still hyped for every new content and new story quests. The lore is so good that I feel like im waiting for a new season.

You don't need to spend on Genshin Impact to enjoy it. I've been playing since the game launched. There have definitely been times when I didn't log on every day. But every time they introduced a new region, I found it really enjoyable to come back and play. As a casual game, there's not a better game out there. You can get the $5 monthly gem pack and pretty much get any character you want. You may not get all the powerful constellations, but you don't need them to beat anything in the game. The game is actually funner if you don't get the OP constellations to be able to mindlessly kill anything.

The real power creep in Genshin is the music. The biggest of them all is the harbinger boss music.

I dont think you should be able to buy characters instead of gacha at fixed rates, the highest points of genshin is getting the character early, or getting 2 for 1, and you kinda can buy them anyway just have to do 180 pulls when you can get them in 1 with a tiny tiny chance, i feel like in this game buying characters would only make them more expensive and take longer to get them as f2p, and it takes more than 2 months to get 1 char 100% and more and more characters are being on banners, it was 2, than 3, now 4 every version, and version duration was cut from 6 to 5 weeks which is good overall, but that means people who could get 20% of what they want will now only get 10% if we have a fixed price which would be higher 100%, and you cant get lucky and get 100% of what you wanted unless you swipe intensively
The character that was on screen which is given to everybody is one of 3 most expensive characters, so you need 7 times 1 character to get all their perks unlocked and you spend 200$ you can get 1 hu tao or yelan or whoever 5 star, but you can spend 1000$ and not get 1 gut that was on screen, he is free, but to max him out will take lots of money or couple years of playing the game i am max level and still have 6/7 of him
i think peoples problem is patience! if you dont want to spend money, play genshin like a resource management game with amazing visuals gameplay and great story, saying this as a vet with hutao, yelan, nahida, baal, ayaka, kazuha to name a few

When you hit the repetitive content wall then quit and play something else. I dunno why anyone expects a game to entertain them forever.
Blue protocol looks like Paladins trying hard to make fast changes in the fly to follow the money but forgetting on deliver their own idea, the game wasn't supposed to have Gacha but now have and with the help of Amazon the marketing will be big but still a game without soul that will be just like living on life support of streamers like asmon

Here's how you play Genshin. Play for story/quests/exploration, the story, music and world building is 80% of this game's appeal. Don't get obsessive. Watch your wallet and be responsible (or play F2P. I've spent $80, most of that on costumes, total and still have 15 5-stars at c1 and all of the 4-Stars with most of them at C4 through C6. It's very doable). Don't engage with the overall community, 8 out of every 10 people who openly claim to be part of the "Genshin community" are the worst human beings you can possibly imagine.
Do that and you'll be fine. Play it obsessively or as a career (like Tectone did) and the game will crash and burn for you.

Played the game, it doesn't matter to me how much they gussy it up, it's still gacha. Got up until they introduced the banners to me in game and just turned it off; awful, predatory business model that I genuinely believe people should be ashamed to support in any fashion.

With the F2P you can look at Mtash. His F2P account was broken good.
genshin has its flaws, but the gacha is not one of them. simply because of how relevant the 4 stars are in genshin. some of them are simply cracked and way way more valuable to have than a 5-star. you will passively get 5 stars just by playing the game, you can save to snipe a 5-star character you want. also because of how easy the game is. if anything, the most mind-numbing part of the game is not the gacha at all, but the artifact farming. but then again, the game is so easy you don't need perfect artifacts, so it's not a reason to not play the game. but to those who want to min-max, yeah it's pretty bad. also, it lacks the basic features that at this day and age you will expect from this kind of game. like build preset, artifact and weapon preset, and skip button. but then again again, it's not reason enough to not play the game or to hate the game. the community is also one of its flaws, but as long as you steer away from Twitter and just socialize with other players in a youtube genshin content creator comment section, it's pretty nice, not that bad.
