All i can say, Yelan vs xingqiu reception is very different from itto vs noelle.. Is it the element? Waifu outweighs meta? Or simply characterization?
My hutao with yelan can get CA damage 100K, With xingqiu only get 78K
Considering Jade Cutte is a better weapon than Skyward Harp, stat wise, this is pretty amazing. I think a better comparison would be between Xingqiu with Jade Cutter vs Yelan with Aqua Simulacra.

Yelan basically has a major advantage over Xingqiu for a very simple reason, and nobody has talked about it. She has a crit rate scaling, which means it's way easier to build her to do damage. For Xingqiu the only way to get close to those numbers is to put a crit rate weapon and a DMG circlet, but thus the Sacrificial Sword is given up and his downtime becomes exaggerated due to the skill CD.
So, yeah, if we take into consideration a normal scenario with multiple team rotations, Yelan wins on the long term DPS-wise, while Xingqiu provides a little more utility.
Xingqui is very good in single target but he's weaker in abyss vs a lot of enemies

I'd say Yelan is slightly stronger than c6 xq. Xq can provide much more consistent hydro applications and he can easily regain his energy back plus giving extra resistance to interruption and small heals. On the other hand, Yelan has more mobility and she can help group small mobs plus she can greatly buff teammates.
Yelan is a lot easier to build especially getting a good crit ratio and a variety of weapons. However skyward harp isn’t the best bow for Yelan
Harp has pretty high attack which is bad for yelan if anyone reading this comment you better use slingshot if you don't have aqua

Yelan burst duration is 15s same as Xingqiu, but end faster than xingqiu 😐
I also want to put that xingqiu skill with sac sword can deal 60,000 damage when cooldowns end and yelan can do 40,000 damage with sac bow however her skill is 10 seconds less than xingqiu so when half of his skill time is gone Yelan would already do an additional 20,000. Overall Xingqiu would deal more damage for single target but Yelan skill does aoe damage allowing her to do the same high damage output in different enermys.

Just so you know, Yelan with Recurve bow does more damage than Harp. You should at least use R5 Stringless if you are using Jade cutter on Xingqiu
Just reviewed yelan and decided to pull for Xiao in the end. I have a well developed c6 Xingqiu who I think is way better than yelan. Xq can also provide a bit of protection and healing. Considering both damage and utility, ill stick with Xq and wont waste any resources on someone who's gonna be a seemingly advanced duplicate of Xq like yelan.
Btw, I pulled the featured bow and gave it to Childe who became godly in an instant. Lol.

Doesn't make any sense if you're giving Xingqiu an advantage with weapons and Yelan with the disadvantage. SacBow and Skyward Harp are far from her bis.

Quite an unfair comparison id say. My Yelan on support build with Elegy + Kazuha does 11k first throw. Meanwhile Xingqiu with sac sword + Kazuha does about 7k.
Yes Xingqiu has some utility but Yelan gives a buff to the team. And you did not factor in Yelan's bassive hp buff either.
Skyward Harp is a pretty mediocre weapon for Yelan tbh
You should be using Yelan's skill after the burst for the extra exquisite throw proc
Yelan with an ER weapon and 4pc Emblem does way more damage than that.
Yelan will have a higher damage ceiling, due to her being a 5 star with better base stats, crit rate ascension, dmg passive and also has many bows that work with her. Xingqiu easier to obtain, sac sword easily gets his burst up and can be used in many team with supportive buffs also still the best at applying hydro for reactions.
