Will Tower Of Fantasy Be Enough To Change Genshin Impact?

In light of recent debates, I share my honest thoughts about Tower of Fantasy and its effects over Genshin Impact. Ranging from being a Genshin Killer to how both games can promote a healthy competition to each other’s development.

  1. While I do agree that genshin is much more polished in terms of looks and feels, but at the end of the day the game suffers from a lack of a an objective.

If you haven't completely 36 starred the spiral abyss you would want to get those units to your roster which would help you to do so, and build them. But genshin doesn't even allow you to build your units at a steady rate. If you have already beaten the abyss, you don't really have any reason to play the game, but considering that you want to play with newer units because you are bored, you end up with the same problem of not being able to raise units at a steady rate.

This thing burns anyone who wants to immerse themselves in a game more.
They are more likely to play genshin as a side game (if they don't quit altogether) once they have more engaging alternatives.

Now why should this concern the genshin developers? Because it is these players who spend bulk of the money in the game. Most of the 'casual players' who don't play the game for 'progress' are F2Ps (I am ignoring the gacha addicts who don't have any control over their spending out of this because they are going to spend regardless).

So while genshin might retain its 'loyal' fanbase, I am not sure how much of them will be their 'loyal' sources of revenue.

  4. wish the security of genshin is good too getting hack and changing your information in your account without your consent is bad wish they could fix their security :/ hope Tower of Fantasy security is good so you don't have to lose your progress easily

  5. ToF doesn't look interesting to me, plus it's an MMO. I much prefer single player games with optional co-op. On top of that, being an artist, I refuse to support a company that stole literally an entire promotional video from another studio and steal things from other sources too(they got caught stealing from Honkai). There's a difference between inspired and just flat out copying. Genshin needs some good competition, don't get me wrong but ToF is already doing some shady stuff and it's not even released yet.

  6. How this genre works: you make a game, it becomes popular, another company makes a game, it becomes popular, you make a game, it becomes popular.

If anything, both ToF and Hoyo's new game will kill Genshin faster.

  7. i was having doubts about trying out ToF but now that genshin is in a hiatus state with china's lockdown, im definitely gonna try it out now, see how it feels compared to genshin both gameplay–wise and Lore-wise.

  8. these discussions are so cringey honestly :p
A : People are gonna get sucked into the hype of something shiny and new JUST like they always do and get bored of it in like 2 months time when they realize it's only purpose is to be a shallow genshin competitor.

and B : Have you SEEN the characters for Tower of Fantasy ? It's the same waifu collection thing you love to mock so much. I've seen like 3 people play this not one dude character in sight

It's single player RPG first , a gacha game second, a co-op game last. It was never marketed to be an MMO with any of the typical things those kinds of games have for people to comer back to every day. Which brings me to C : If you honest to god NEED this game to have content for you to sit and play for hours on end, ya need to go finds something to do with your life. I , CANNOT stress that enough. and I'm gonna keep saying it until someone gets it.

  9. there will defiantly be and exodus of players – how long they stay away will depend on TOF's retention / i personally think GI will be loosing out big time because they appear to be a very greedy company

  10. It’s a really good game. However just like any gâcha game, the gap between SR and SSR characters is very large😭😭 well it’s gacha so it’ll favor pay to win

  11. i get why people commplain about genshin and rightfully so but I don't even think they can met peopels expectation, this isn't an mmo most play genshin for the characters and the exploring aspect and that's exatly whatt they are delivering whenever aa new region is released eryone is estatic tthe fandom thrives people get exited and enjoy the game then that slowly stops because everything is explored (and I amm talking about 2 weeks not about people who rush through it in one day) and then we have events keepingg us entertained and some do thatt better than others that really depends on what you like the problem isn't that they want to appease casual players but that they want to appease everyone (except for hardcore, skilled player) and when you do that every other event will be a miss for someone

but unlike the firstt year we have a good time frame for new maps to get us reinvested into the game, genshins game play is new regions and events and tthat keeps enough people intrested aa lot of players either need to find a way around that, mmaybee by quiitting the games for a week or sso and returning only for big patches, or bby not rushing through everythingg but keeping themselves back, or by playing other games from time to time , genshin isn't desinged to keep you playing for hours on hours

also fomo always exist in gacha games especially with all limeted baaners no sugar coating mihoyo uses that to sell their characters, haing more banners only helps a bit but then you say "we won't see ayaka for a long time"? ???? says who why do you as contennt creater create non existting fomo, xiao just recently had a rerun and now has another ayaka doesn't have a personalized artifact set yet maybe she will have a rerun in the forseable future (childs second rerun was also just filler for sommething as is ayakas right now butt that didn't stop them from realeasing his planned re-rerun) tthatt commment was a bit unnecesary

  12. i wish Tower of Fantasy ( and Blue Protocol in the future ) will success to the point of "suffocating" geshin, not killing them. I hope this will make genshin devs to actually make changes and delivers contents that players been asking for months.
