I honestly think that Paimon is the unknown god at the beginning of the game purely because they look so similar and it would make sense that our best friend was the person who separated us
Actually, there is a theory that paimons the daughter of that god that took one of the twins, but paimon could take this stuff no longer, so she landed in the lake, for where the traveler found paimon, so paimon helps the twin along on their journey, to find their twin. But paimon could still be keeping it quiet of their twin, she could be hiding something..
Or who knows really, I know this because someone had a glitch to make it to celestia I think it was called? And they saw lumine, aether, the god, and paimon behind the god who took one of the twins.

It is quite an accurate theory, though, why stick with the traveler that woke up 500 years after being cursed, right? It would make more sense to watch over them, not act childish if she was a god. Though, it could possibly be the god being reborn with memories. I just believe if she was connected to the god, or the god herself, why would she act like a child, or not help the travelers sibling? Simply, I’m confused. Though it is an amazing theory.
Paimon is prob the god we see in the beginning of the game is more powerfull then any other archon we have seen and and has been hushing them for there saftey because piamon just shows up and commands us to do things but im kinda scared if one day we dont listen beacuse if piamon is the primo god then she has our brother/sister and has been making us do her work to spare time before the end of the game and could be waiting to do something bigger and better with our brother/sister maybe they did something in the past and piamon could be getting revenge on them so we have to wait but we all now hoyo is going to milk every last drop off of genshin in merge and stuff so we might never see the end. But thats just a theory a genshin theory!

They’ve forgotten what they were supposed to do and are trying to find each other as they are brother and sister, but they also might remember why they are on Teyvat. At one time Venti says, “It’s good to see you again!” Which is a mistake. Scaramouche before he becomes the Wanderer tells the Traveler he has met them before. Scaramouche also tells the Traveler they lived with the Jester when he was a royal Madge, before the fall of Khaenri’ah and he doesn’t know when they arrived or left. A lot of it has to do with the timeline and the start of the most recent war, 500 years ago. Fontaine will be interesting as it will add to the lore and mystery.
