What is Happening in Fontaine? (Genshin Impact)

Fontaine is facing a crisis but the nation itself seems to be doing very well. It has the most advanced technology, the archon Furina is treated like a celebrity and the judge is the hydro dragon Neuvillette himself. While in the background, many other things are happening that can easily be missed and are just as important to remember going forward. Let’s look at all such things and understand how it all connected to the main story of the nation of Hydro. I hope you enjoy the video πŸ˜€

  1. Funnily, if you use Neuvillette you'll realize that his hair glows up when using his power, a trait share by all the Archons, maybe he has the potential to become a true Archon or it's just a special trait that the dragons also have. Either way he's the first and currently only non-Archon character to have this trait.

  2. Doomsday Clock exists in the real-world too, run by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. It's a concept of how close we are to the end of the world (most likely by nukes), as of Jan 2023, it is set 90 seconds to midnight (the closest it has ever been iirc). The game seems to follow the same concept, though I doubt it strikes midnight just like the real clock, because if it does it should be inevitably the end.
I have a theory that Il Dottore encountered Narzissenkreuz in the past they seem to have a similar goal of making powerful humans, but that's just it. Might involve as to why they mentioned the end of an old world and exchange of a new one, I think that's what was in the Fatui teaser. As for Furina's identity I think she's somewhat like an Oceanid, much like how Mary-Ann made Ann the Oceanid.

  3. From the start during the 4.0 livestream I said Arle is part hilichurl because of her hands and the "intellectual" redditors and Youtube comments section laughed and downvoted me to oblivion and demanded "eVidEnCe". Who's laughing now? Bunch of clowns.

  4. Idk what’s up with Fontaine , every back story you hear either involves death, or some other pretty messed up stuff, the kind of things that are usually buried pretty deep in the lore are just being told to your face and then you got a doomsday clock in the background and like a dozen unanswered questions, it’s jarring for sure but it’s fresh and I like it

  5. If the sky nails are able to stop abyssal energy, can't Celestia throw them at Fontaine since the Primordial Water is most likely Abyssal energy.
Since this is also something that is a major event in Teyvat (the whole world could be flooded), I don't see why Celestia would be sitting back

  6. Based on what Dainsleif hinted on the Teyvat Chapter teaser about Fontaine, he said "The God of Justice lives for the spectacle of the courtroom and seeking to judge all other gods, but even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine"
This might mean that Furina DOES want to save her people but also doesn't want to rely on the Fatui for help, because relying on them means giving her gnosis since the Fatui's plan need her gnosis to work and I believe she knows they won't give the gnosis back but instead hand it over to the Tsaritsa which means making an enemy of the divine (Celestia) since the Tsaritsa wants to overthrow/fight them
Based on this theory, I think Furina is trying to think of a way to save the people all on her own because she's too afraid of the calamity that might befall upon her nation, she loves her people, love the "shows" in the courtroom by her people, therefore she wants them to keep existing and not drown in primordial waters and be dissolved leaving her all alone and feeling guilty over not being able to protect her own believers

  7. As you stated, I think the Knave's β€œreal Archon” logic has some holes, too. Every Archon follows their own ideal and does things differently. For example, Barbatos doesn't interfere the mortal problems too much – but that is because he respected the freedom of people. It can be seen as negligence from other people (Keqing talks about this in her voicelines), but that is what Mondstadt chose, and it is one of the many forms how Archon and people interact. The Tsaritsa and Furina conduct things differently. As Fontaine's Aquabuses and lighting system allegedly powered by the people's belief of justice (which is likely linked to the people's enjoyment of trials), and as the people actually anticipate and enjoy the show of the sinners, our flamboyant Lady is just doing things in Fontaine's way, not in Snezhnaya's way.
…This does not mean the Knave's opinion is completely wrong, though. Her anger for Furina is reasonable and the curse is actually suspicious.
