I found the reddit thread itself after recording this, looks like many posts have since been removed/deleted, but shout out to the redditors who actually left kind comments ❤️
I saw that art on reddit and I didn't even notice the arm until I watched this
Reddit, like Twitter, gives an overinflated and false sense of the importance of ones opinions. The ones leaving essays are probably narcissists who don’t even have a desire to benefit the other with critique, rather flex their intelligence by going into asinine levels of detail for what could just be reduced to: “I don’t like this”…..
Tbh the arm does actually look thin
Some comments were giving genuine criticism while others were just shitting on the artist
btw anyone else notice the art is having some persona5 vibe from it, like the art style, or its just me
r/genshin is the worst community in genshin. It is just full of f2p players glorifying themselves because they can play the game w/o spending money as if it actually matters. I remember a streamer that I watch posted a "one-shot the boss enemy" kind of vid. All he got were people complaining that his charactered is fully geared, C6 and R5 weapon (which cost alot of money) as if he is hiding the fact that he's spending money in the game.
I'm a shitty artist myself I can see their point but I can say that artwork was really good, but the problem is how they point out that flaw, the construction of words was giving the vibe of hate.
note: (I'm not an art major, I'm an I.T.. I've just a year and half in this art thingy so don't smite me.)
If they don’t like it they draw her 😐
One lesson I learned now, never post on reddit.
I usually never write anything Reddit if it's negative try to keep goofy or positive
If you want to criticize someone's art maybe they should try and draw it like???
Bro you can't draw yet you call someone else's drawing bad like..
The arm is really short, foreshortening does happen tho but they definitely went a bit on the rude side and didn't give enough criticism.
As an artist myself, i can say that, yeah, right arm is too small, and looks like there is no shoulder blades on her back. But i was there myself. There`s nothing to get triggered about. Also, lol! One dude said: "Before drawing humans you should study human anatomy". The question is: how do you study human anatomy without drawing humans? This is ridiculous. We learn by making and fixing mistakes, and you cant make a mistake if you not doing anything, therefore you can`t learn. Big kek on this one.
Ok so this is the problem I see in her right armpit, instead of using a dark shade of brown to emphasis a shadow the artist used completely black colour this gives a sense of a hole in her armpit which makes it feel as if she is very thin.
So who’s gonna tell them most anime girls have really thin arms…
awww pwoor digitwal awtist may abbandon her widdle hobby. Thats what you get machien head now learn how to do a gresai
An aspiring artist is by far their own worst critic. Most of us love getting feedback of any kind, and helpful criticism is greatly appreciated. Yeah small anatomy errors happen from time to time, but it's nothing to get upset about. I guess Twitter and Reddit are just good at twisting what should be a normal interaction into something ugly.
In situations like this, I want to remind you this from someone we lost time ago:
You don't need to be an expert to become a great artist
Lesson learned don't install twitter 🤮
drawing different angle for body part like that is always difficult.
How to solve the weird arm problem: don't stare at it
I have to disagree with the artist if you post something online the least you can expect is criticism and that's the least that is to be expected. If they don't want criticism or want "time to prepare" then they should restrain themselves from ever doing something publicly. On first glance of the art yeah most of it is good but the arms are off the right one looks too thin while the left seems to be perspective with that perspective so much of the arm shouldn't be lost behind her breast either that or the character just has arms that are really short (she got some Chris Benoit arms just without the muscle).
Let's be honest: That arm is looking fucked up and they were being nice about it giving some somewhat less than constructive criticism. There is no faulting the reddinogs on this one, you're just simping on this one.
Do people not realize that poses can make body parts look different an arm facing away from the camera it's going to be a lot different than an arm facing towards the camera
i find most of the comments fine i mean its just kind critique and most of these ppl dont deserve to be called out like that
Honestly anatomy suggestions like that are so stupid. No one is hyper focusing on that arm unless you tell them to, and even then you can just laugh about it with the artist because art is hard and that stuff happens way more often than people think. If a hand or something is backwards you can compliment the art and then say, “But the hand on the right is flipped so watch out for that haha!!” But like easy to make anatomy mistakes where they got the perspective wrong at a tough angle?? Leave it be Redditors.
the arm does look off but i thought it was just a perspective thing. perspective can make things look off and a bit funky.
I'm guessing these people don't know what "foreshortening" is.
I don't think people realize the garbage folks on Twitter are usually the same ones on Reddit. After Reddit became popular over the next few years people from Twitter started using it too and that's when it started to become extremely toxic and no longer helpful.
hero it's not a woke mob vs BASED JAPANESE ARTIST FROM BASED JAPAN thing, it's literally people collectively pointing out the wonky looking arm, it sounds like you're bunching it together like damn bro CHILL, find a HOBBY
(PS: Not defending the people that were assholes about it, I mean the people
who said something like "oh cool art but the arm looks weird" also since she was commissioned, she should at least make sure they proportions [or rather the proportions or an arm shifted by the perspective {aka it's too thin almost like uncanny valley feeling inducing thin}] aren't messed up, because it's one thing to mess up a free made for the joy of it art and messing up a paid commision is another)
they should tell naruto artist that when they were drawing the naruto vs pain part lol
YoU sHoUlD lEaRn AnAtOmY
And you should put on some fucking glasses because proportions have been respected.
Also, summer Jean in P5 like style, muy likey.
