  1. You didn't realize it at first but you did realize it soon after Arnold but the "Fairy Tale" being told at the beginning of the short was explaining how the orphanage was run/how the next Knave is selected
Basically teaching all the children from a very young age that you're all eventually going to fight to the death to attempt to become the new mother
And a subtle difference I'd like to bring up from this is, it seems like the current house of the hearth was taught this very same thing or learned about it but there's no longer a fight to the death, the only death the children experience is the possibility of not returning from a mission and that arlecchino selects the potential next knave not leaving it to some cruel process

  2. Commenting again to say, I wonder when exactly this is
We don't know how many harbingers exist at this time but if we only believe what we see then including arlecchino we're only at 5
So perhaps at the time of arlecchino's recruitment there's only 4 other harbingers all of them being long lived, there's Capitano but there's no way he's just a normal human under that armor
Also if those are the tsarista's words that the jester is saying then this could be somewhat proven true and that instead of immediate rankings the tsarista gave harbingers their titles

  3. arlecchino said "Is it normal for daughters to fight with their mothers…?" and Clervie side stepped the question with the shneznya fact and her dream to see the lights plus in other shots you see the doc plush at the beginning checking a kid out, another shot you see Clervie with a bandage on her hand and in another one is a syringe lying on the ground like the "mother" had been letting someone(maybe dottore?) do expirements on the children of the house of the hearth to try and nurse a strong successor like her garden of flowers "mother" saying "I should have plucked that one before it withered and Clervie having the same flower mother is raising at as a necklace all very ominous and intentional I just dont know how too many connections…

  4. I knew this was gonna be emotional after all that we learned so far about the House of the Hearth, from the manga to any playable characters involved with the Fatui. But this still caught me off guard 😭😭😭 should’ve steeled my heart

  5. In my head the children's chorus when Arlecchino excalts and is about to end Mother, is all the other children she had to kill on her way to end Mother's reign, joining her in this their common goal.

  6. I’m still puzzled about her arms turning black. Is that the same thing Caterpillar has? Even if it is, idk what that means about her true power. And the only harbingers that showed up at the end was Scara, Signora, and Capitano. Where’s Dottore, Pucinella, Columbina, and Regrator at that time? Childe obviously was the last to be recruited

  7. I bet she sacrficed herself so arlecchino could be the king, probably pited against eachother, arlecchino looked shocked in the scene, the girl probably knew arlecchino couldn't do it herself

  8. If i wasnt hype for Arlecchino already i certainly am now. So many theories and her backstory surrounding the character. Her reasonings for “Father” make so much sense now after all this.

  10. Everything about this animation is so sick!! But what is the coolest part of all is Arlecchino using GRAVITY against Mother, so as the building is falling, she cannot escape Arlecchino's slash as she is coming down. Imagine getting slashed at that velocity

  11. I’m genuinely worry about her as a character, ngl.

because I think this short video is meant to sanitize her and make her more sympathetic. now, sympathetic villain can be good if done right. however, if the sympathy the writer is trying to convey doesnt add up with what the audiences feels, or when the audience ends up siding with the villain. you have a problem. which isn’t really the case for Arlecchino. If her backstory was mention in Shuumatsuban Gaiden quest, sure, but it wasn’t mentioned until version 4.0 where they added new dialogue to Momoyo. it’s a red flag to me that they are trying to satinize her by removing her flaws. (I means.. we’re talking about a character that made child soldier and send them to dangerous place that could cost their life, a character that pull every manipulation tactic there is in the textbook whenever she’s on screen, a character who almost murder someone in the middle of the night)

Arlecchino is a competence villain. she’s amazing already. her moral compass isn’t repelling enough to worth a redemption or sympathetic backstory.

It also doesn’t help that we already have too many sympathetic villain with zero accountability. Scaramouche might say “yeah, it’s my fault that Kamisato clan and Kaedehara clan were nearly extinct. so if they want to revenge, they can have me” but would you really think that Ayato/Ayaka and Kazuha would want to avenge their ancestor ? imagine how cool would it be if Kazuha was like “I won’t forgive him ! If I see him on street, he’s a dead man !” a man that usually kindhearted and humble, now want to have his revenge. a stark contrast to his usual self. of course, it won’t happen because all character need to be artificially good person to be playable.

What make Arlecchino ridiculously interesting is the fact that she’s unpredictable. and mysterious, posing as an actual threat that genuinely scary as hell. I’m pretty sure you guys also have a moment of “can I even trust what she just said” or “oh god, what’s she up to now ?” and “what’s her goals ? what’s her motive ?”. this short animation kinda ruins that aspect. “Oh.. she is fighting her children in the version trailer video ? hmm.. remember that one short animation where she was forced to off’d her friend by her mother ? maybe she want Lyney to be her successor but instead of him k*lling other children, she want him to k*ll her instead ?” this is exactly what I meant, it’s too predictable (and I hope I’m wrong) I’m even willing to bet that she didn’t even k*ll her friend but her friend did it herself.

It’s such a shame because Arlecchino is by far, one of my favorite character not just in Genshin but also in any pieces of media.

If anyone like this direction, I’m happy for you. it’s just not my cup of tea. but hey, I still have tiniest bit of hope for her. because the writer of Arlecchino did such an amazing job so far at portraying her. maybe he might be able to pull it off (assuming the story department didn’t interfere)

Anyway, I love your enthusiasm and how invest you are. I wish I could be like you, to be able to enjoy something without dissect every structure of storytelling.

PS: I did say that she didn’t k*ll her friend. which make sense because if she did so, she would’ve gotten Anemo Vision from Venti. welcome to the ded friend gang ! after all, k*lying your own friend is way more traumatize and sadder than your friend k*lled herself. (this one is a joke, please don’t take it seriously 😂)

  12. I personally believe that Hoyo shown in that 'pardon' scene all Fatui we will actually have as boss fights: since it is few years ago, Tartaglia is still not one of Harbingers. We fought Signora in Inazuma, Scaramouche in Sumeru and now Arlecchino in Fontaine. Capitano is in Natlan as far as we know and will probably be our main antagonist there. That leaves Pierro for Snezhnaya. Interestingly, it would make us fight Fatui in ascending order: 11-8-6-4-1-0 (assumption on Capitano and Pierro since in video description Pierro is referred to as Director and not Harbinger again, which would put him above Harbingers).

  13. With Arnold hyping up Capitano, can you imagine his reaction if he just gets Signora'd? That would be the start of Arnold's Joker arc. Like imagine hyping up the 1st of the 11 Fatui Harbingers, just to kill him unceremoniously and not making him playable

  14. miHoYo stopped making animation shorts for Honkai Impact 3rd (they are now made with the game engine), but I0m glad to see the team is still active making them for HSR and GI characters.
I hope they will make more and more of these animation shorts and even short series like they did for HI3 (ie. Cooking with valkyries or ELF Academy)

  15. In Chinese version, the part where she said "mother, the answer is no.", she said " mother, you don't deserve/worth it ( dont deserve to be a mother/leader, or don't deserve to be the one guiding her to be the true king)" . I think it has a stronger impact than the English Version, it really showed how angry she was towards the "mother"

  16. She doesn't quite follow mothers footsteps wow she was appearing kind and devoted secretly mother was cruel and abusive. By calling herself father instead she is the antithesis of that cruel woman seeming unfeeling but deep down caring about them. That's why she sends them off in groups to various missions rather than having them kill each other

  17. the hoyo team did amazing with this animation.
i guess the curse is something to do with her blood-debt.
that place where they fought looks like the old fontaine research institute.
also peruere means – to persevere.
in the end i think she does repeat what her mother did.

  18. I don't know why but something tells me Clervie and the Blonde girl with the orange hairpin are still "around."

Also in the story book there is a doctor character with a syringe and later when Arlecchino is waking up to "Mother" we see that syringe again. I think that wasn't one of the children but a "Doctor" that watched over the kids.

  19. I think she fights Lyney, Lynette and Freminet because she wants to do the exact opposite of her "mother"."Mother" was making children fight each other for her. Arlecchino wants her children to fight TOGETHER and AGAINST her.
