  1. at the surface level, I really like this theory. it intrigues me as to why the traveller would need to be monitored – perhaps they come from a dangerous bloodline or clan?
but like you said, this theory has its holes and would take the personal aspect away, making the story kinda mid. what would make it redeeming for me would be if they somehow captured lumine and replaced her with a fake, turning it into a mission to save the original lumine… but there’s holes in that too
    still interesting though 🙂

  2. I think the story that Venti tells us at the start of every Battle Pass is going to be very key to the plot.

"Once, there was a glorious kingdom established among the heavens. From that kingdom came a crowned heir, tasked with seeking out the Genesis Pearl from the Kingdom of Darkness. The first crowned heir began her journey of seeking the pearl. But she was deceived, and the memory of her noble origins faded. She now believed that she was the queen of the Kingdom of Darkness. But take heart, a second crowned heir had already taken up the path where the first had stumbled. This is the story of your journey, of your tale to be told."

It could be that the Abyss did something to the Sibling that made forget some part of their past, and that with the loss of that memory they came to be considered a part of the world itself, which is why Irminsul can track data about them.

  3. Could being bound to Teyvat be the Abyss Siblings reaction to the "curse"? We know that people in Khaenriah had mixed reactions to Celestia's punishment. Some remained human, while others become the monsters we're forced to fight in the game. Since the twins are facing off with the sustainer at the beginning of the game, could the Abyss's Sibling's divine punishment be that their fate is changed and they are forcibly bound to Teyvat? We know the Abyss Sibling's history starts at Khaenriah, and it's presumed that the game starts at the events of Khaenriah. Since that's when the separation happens, could one twin be bound to Teyvat, with their memories intact, while the other is forced to forget and is presumably free to leave?

  4. Crazy theory idea hit me. So I was watching a documentary series about the possibility of ancient human civilizations during the ice age and several factors popped out at me. The sea level was 400 feet lower thus not just the climate but even the coastlines and available landmass were incredibly different then they are today. And of course the concept of a civilizing hero teaching hunter gatherers secrets about construction, agriculture and the stars. As in survivors from the old civilization going abroad to administer to the remaining survivors of the human race.

    So it hit me.
    1) Khanriah = ancient civilization (among others)
    2) Archon War and the Cataclysm = Ice Age and Flood
(I realize a war is not like an ice age but actually doing battle over land and limited resources is similar)
    3) Civilizing Hero = Archons? OR Great Sages like Hyperion
(Here I'm thinking Zhongli been around for 5 millennia guiding his people as example)
    4) Academia refusing to investigate the real history rather then refute a shorter human timeline = Celestia banishing or declaring certain knowledge forbidden.
    5)Liyue -> Inazuma -> Enkanomiya -> Sumeru = China -> Japan -> Sundaland -> Egypt

There may be more examples but given the similarities and the knowledge we have that the Abyss Sibling journeyed Tehvat with Dainleif 500+ years ago I gotta ask why aren't we allowed to ask the Archons what the state of the world was like then or is that also forbidden knowledge?

  5. A twist on this theory that makes it work more smoothly is that the Abyss Sibling (AS for short) is not the Travelers sibling but a clone/copy of the Travelers sibling. A sibling that traveled the world of Teyvat before the fall of Khaenriah, then when they went to/back to Khaenriah at the end of their journey where something happened that killed them this could of caused caused the fall itself, as there are always major repercussions for the death of a god. And if the Twins are gods as suspected then what kind of catastrophe would befall the land should one of THEM die while at their full strength. The cursing of an entire civilization perhaps, an upheaval/major influx of abyssal energy perhaps, the destruction/death of gods… Especially if they felt betrayed as they died, the sheer emotional damage it could do could change a world entirely and throw it into chaos.

Then knowing that there was one more of them out there, the AS was created with the memories/artificial memories of the sibling that died and designed to replace the lost sibling. Then once the fall was over they, the newly born AS traveled the land gaining power as their original had done then returned to the fallen Khaenriah to assist in removing the curse the original had placed on their people. This was both an attempt to seize the power these outlanders held as well as placate the other sibling (Traveler) when they woke. However the AS is not a perfect reproduction, and cannot properly wield the powers the deceased sibling once held. So now that the Traveler has woken, Khaenriah/the abyss order is desperate to create a god slayer for themselves, not to seize Celestia but to stop the Traveler's eventual and inevitable (in their eyes) rage/sorrow fueled slaughter of the remainder of their people.

  6. It's extremely rare that identical twins are born mixed gender*, assuming that we're playing by human rules and not talking about transition Aether and Lumine probably came from two eggs not one. So yeah it's really not that weird they look different, they're as different genetically as any other siblings.
*youtube doesn't like the more scientific s word.

  7. My theory about Sibling which is consistent with what has been said by Nahida in the end of archon quest.

Nahida: There's only one possible explanation: (She/He) belongs to this world.

Nahida: According to the records I was able to access, your sibling suddenly appeared in Khaenri'ah…

Nahida: After the Khaenri'ah disaster, (she/he) began (her/his) journey through the seven nations of Teyvat.

Nahida: All I know for sure is that somebody, for reasons only they can know, is deliberately obfuscating (her/his) fate…

So my theory is that Sibling died at some point after Unknown God sent him/her to somewhere.

Most likely Sibling was badly injured during the cataclysm in Khaenri'ah. Maybe he/she fight against archons for Khaenri'ah (why Zhongli dont want to tell us what happens in Khaenri'ah?)

Sibling`s fate was to die in Khaenri'ah, but somebody (Rhinedottir? Istaroth? Tsaritsa? somebody else?) changed his/her fate by creating of copy of him/her (clone) and transferring all knowledge and memories from original to clone. Maybe even consciousness. After all Sibling becomes as creature of Teyvat because was physically created in Teyvat.

The Sibling may not even know that he/she is a copy, if he/she was badly injured during battle and lost consciousness, but then suddenly woke up in some place without doubts what happened.

From that moment the Sibling appeared in Irminsul chronicles and start his/her journey.

  8. I think maybe abyss sinling got exposed to something that deleted their previous identity OR something that changed their part/ history in irminsul around the time of the cataclysm in khanria… at least i hope so 😭

  9. i like the possibility of the abyss sibling being a homunculus made by Kheanri’ah but that would leave one big plot hole about Albedo and his double aka Rubedo or Dorian. if the abyss sibling was a homunculus then they’re going to be seen as the “perfect human project by alchemy/khemia” then why would they make Rubedo? he was seen as a failure and Albedo even sometimes thinks of himself as not being “perfect” enough so if Khenari’ah somehow made the perfect homunculi aka the abyss sibling then why did they failed to make another one aka Rubedo?
that would be the biggest plot hole miss imo hut it’s a nice theory we could go by

  10. The first thing that came to mind was the Abyss sibling uploading their identity into the Akasha. Don't know the reason, maybe the Irminsul can be infiltrated somehow/our twin had some plan regarding the change of Teyvat's history? I can't imagine there would be some plot twist such as the 'so-called twins not being real twins at all'.

  11. Hmmm after the archon quest in sumeru I would say… Its possible.

Travelers mind is not the best. I think we don't have a sibling anymore.
(He's the only one who can change elements and still have its usual look. The hartbringers changes there look.)

A good nice theory clip 👍

What if our sibling is death? We are life?! She "already had her journey" and cares for the DEAD people of Khaenri'ah. We have alot of lore from different artifacts but since the artifacts themselves already have base names such as Flower of life, Plum of death, Circlet of logos (possibly representing the heavenly principles)?

  13. It might be just as simple as the Abyss Sibling has been around for 500 years, it's only natural for Irminsul to have information about her and consider her a resident of Teyvat. But at the same time 500 years is a long time to collect/gather information and if Irminsul has any sentient consciousness I think it should know that the Abyss Sibling is an outlander/descender. So it's still clear as mud basically. It's frustrating but also fascinating at the same time. I really want to know what's going on.

I think we can assume that what we know right now isn't 100% the truth and we don't know everything going on. It's very likely we're being fed bunk information just to throw us off. I'm fairly certain that Aether and Lumine are genuine siblings but someone is trying to muddy things for their own purpose and we won't know until either chapter 6 or the ??? final chapter. The suspense is killing meeeeeeeee!! 😫😫😫😫

  14. It might a huge stretch but I think the forbidden knowledge is Honkai and this world openly rejects it also since the primordial one isn’t from this world maybe she traveled to this world too get away from Honkai and the since in the other world Honkai is also a power source so maybe the traveler used it to use the art khamia

  15. When I first saw the title, I thought this theory was that Khanri’ah made a copy of the travelers twin, not that the twin is a copy of the traveler. It seems impossible given what we know that Khanri’ah completely invented the twin and rewrote the travelers memory, because it doesn’t fit thematically at all. Though still unlikely, I think it would make more sense if the travelers sibling was trapped by the Khanri’ans and duplicated as their own alien weapon. This would explain the Abyss Siblings strange loyalty to Khanri’ah/the Abyss Order and even why Dain said we must “rescue her” in the travail trailer. I still buy more into the theory that the Abyss Sibling was somehow written into Irminsul and bonded to the world after their arrival in Khanri’ah, but it’s fun to imagine other possibilities.

  16. Here me out what if the abyss sibling we see is a clone of the real sibling and during the cataclysm the sibling was caught and is being held prison by pierre so that pierre could control the abyss order from the shadows through the clone sibling so he can further his goal in raising khanrea and only in certain situations we can see our sibling helping us out such as in the dream word in nahidas story quest and the chasm story quest

  17. What if the Abyss sibling IS a Simulacrum, but one thats a copy of the actual Lumine, who is still somwhere asleep or even dying?
The dying part would make sense if the sustainer of heavenly principles mortally wounded her, only being kept alive by the thought of reuniting with her brother in a cave long blocked off, deep underground, slowly dying.

  18. I don't like the idea that Lumine is dead rather I like the idea that someone created her copy (most likely Dainsleif) to motivate the MC to continue their journey to the end. I do think there is something missing. Irminsul stopped recording before the end of her journey, that means something happened to her and she decided to stop her journey to do something else. You know what, Gnostic chorus was about a girl who was deceived and now she thinks she is the Queen of Darkness and in the meantime another person was already on his way where the previous girl stumbled.
I think it goes like this, Lumine, before the end of her journey, somehow absorbed by Abyssal corruption and became the queen of darkness (Night mother, most likely), dain tried to save her but was unable to do so. He accidentally created a copy of Lumine to motivate the second one who's coming to save the world instead.
Dainsleif said, you have to defeat him to show you're worthy enough to save "her", so i don't think Lumine is dead.

  19. Regarding the first downside, theres nothing to say that the Travellers recollection of their encounter with the Sustainer hasn't been tampered with, and the 2nd, just because individuals who originated in Khaenriah such as Enjou & Dainslief believe and refer to them as siblings, doesn't mean they have first hand direct knowledge of every facet of their lives.

  21. i like to vote on the first theory . One , the "current" heavenly principles calls them both outlander , and since she is a descender she is also unaffected by the irmunsul . Two , irmunsul can erase and recreate data , making it so someone powerful from the abyss did something to recreate data for the abyss sibling similarly to what nahida did but to remove it (prolly the abyss king/queen since we knw the abyss sibling is the prince/princess) . Three , nahida said there r 4 descenders and the traveler is the 4th and she says the 1st one is the heavenly principles and she needs to gather more info on the 2nd and 3rd . Now that is interesting , we know Phanes was the first descender and then there WERE invaders and its said phanes won (yet their worshippers civilization was destroyed?) . What if they invaders (the current heavenly principles) won took over Celestia and changed the history in the irmunsul . That would prove why nahida didnt find any info on the 2nd and 3rd descenders (2nd being the invader who made ppl believe they are phanes or their shades and 3rd is the abyss sibling who's records were lost) . Basically if irmunsul is like a huge database for teyvat its possible for its erased data to still have the blank nameless files and these nameless or encrypted files are the other two descenders . Like for example all of Rukadevatas info is gone but tiny info in domains and certain places still remains .

  22. Umm aster I know I'm kinda tripping rn but theory might be right after all u know I kinda observe the intro of the traveller they are about to fight lumine just activated her wings but aether already has wings I supposed there is might be one conclusion I think the fact that the people of KHAENREAH made a copy of aether powers and she is a copy of aether is kinda makes sense now but they didn't know that aether always has his wings back while lumine can litterly activate her wings it's too far fetch I think or I'm just imaging things

  23. Rather than any form of manipulation, I think the sibling exists and is part of the world simply owing to the fact that they've had 500 years to be here, there is memories made in that time, connections, heroics even, as the Aranara call the abyss sibling the Nara Varuna, having journeyed with the sibling. It is time itself that may have eroded the sibling into the state they are in, as Zhongli has warned would befall anyone who succumbs to it. Like Zhongli, the sibling could have endured, but after seeing the world, after witnessing an entire civilization be destroyed for the crime of simply not wanting to bend a knee to the gods, after being battered and bruised and being left alone, they succumbed, eroded and became vulnerable to the abyss. And I think in relation to that, Paimon is the world's answer to the bitterness that filled the sibling; a companion to prevent the heart of the player twin from becoming embittered and closed off like the abyss sibling was.

  24. I think the "abyss sibling" got overshadowed or possessed during the destruction of Khanreiah thus making Irminsul to record the sibling as a creature of Teyvat as it recorded the being reciding in the body.

Also I think Paimon is the sibling just extremely weakened to the point that she can't even help you fight which doesn't counter any of the lore since it still makes the traveler have a twin, Deinsleif and sibling adventure still happened, Irminsul/Nahida is still correct

  25. i think maybe the abyss twin is a third one here, the traveler probably have a twin but the abyss one is a different thing, i mean, maybe our twin in locked by the abyss and was replaced with a copy, we kill the evil twin and free our real twin and the end.
that if we ignore the other theories of genshin, about paimon, celestia and the fatuis, with those things is hard to know what could make sense

  26. Given that The Sustainer of Heavenly Principles called BOTH Aether and Lumine as “Outlanders” and that Nahida said that the recordings in the Irminsul say that the Abyss Sibling SUDDENLY appeared in Khaenri’ah, my theory is that the Abyss Sibling being recorded into the Irminsul is NOT natural.
Someone or even SOMETHING artificially recorded them into the Irminsul. Given that said recordings SUDDENLY became blurry means that it’s being tampered with.
Which brings up a question that popped into my head. Are there recordings of CELESTIA in Irminsul? Given that “Heavenly Principles” is another name for Celestia, and Nahida proposes the theory that it is the First Descender, AND that Descenders are not recorded into the Irminsul, and yet the Abyss Sibling IS when they shouldn’t be, has that happened to Celestia? And that the Fatui have simply yet to realize it?
What ever the case may be, the next time we run into Dainsleif, we have A LOT of questions for him. And I hope The Traveler asks them, and Dainsleif BETTER ANSWER!

  27. My personal theory:

The abyss twin was made from Teyvat materials while traveler was made from materials from another world. It's pretty much explicit that the twins aren't human. The question of how they spawned into existence is then called into question

Did someone create them? Are they born from stars? What is happening?

If someone created them, it is possible that the abyss twin is made outside of Teyvat but from materials of Teyvat, which would answer the question about why there is no information about the abyss twin before they arrived (assuming they arrived in Khanri'ah) We don't know if the Irminsul is capable of recording data outside of Teyvat even if the subject is of Teyvat origin, which makes it a possibility that it can't.

Think of an American born child whose parents were born in Japan and whose extended family members still live there. They're still part of those families and are made from materials of those families (their parent's DNA) They were just created outside their reach

  28. I’d like to believe that the abyss twin’s fate is to stay in Teyvat forever. Unlike the travel who is supposed to only travel Tevyat, the abyss twin could have to play a part in Tevyat’s future- potential ruler maybe? The heavenly principals could have realized that they can no longer have control over Teyvat, (no idea what could have caused the realization let’s just make that assumption) the people who sent the twins to teyvat understood the trouble this world had and decided to send them there to help. Even if the abyssal twin had all elemental powers and traveled all seven nation, there’s no way that they could just simply become Tevyat’s ruler, they would need someone’s help like their own siblings. I believe that this is the reason the Travelers has such determination to find the other twin but will GO OUT THEIR WAY to help all seven nations. The traveler could have easily focus on just the abyss and learning about what happened at the cataclysm. Instead they help Tevyat as if it’s something they’re supposed to do. If traveler’s main goal was to find their twin like the game insists, we would be tracking down our twin not exploring the world. This could explain why one twin is recognized by Irminsul, because one is supposed to stay and the other is supposed to travel. I have no real proof on this idea but I just think it’s somewhat possible

  29. Given that when Aether & Lumine initially combat the Heavenly Principles they use the same weapons summoning that the rest of Teyvat's Allogenes do, they must come from a similar enough bubble universe. Aether may have very well come with an authentic sibling, but the one we see today may simply be Teyvat's equivalent to her, not the one he arrived with. In such an event, the real Lumine may have already perished or is still sealed like Aether himself. We also know that Albedo has "siblings" as well. If close enough copies of a person can come about in one universe, that ensures a near identical copy can be found in another parallel bubble universe. On a multiversal scale, it truly wouldn't be too far out there for Lumine to actually be Teyvat's equivalent to her.. however this also calls into question if Teyvat has or had an equivalent to Aether, or if Lumine herself if just a genderbend of Lumine from another, previous universe Aether visited. From what I can understand though, that last scenario doesn't seem to be the case. The details we get pretty much confirm that Aether & Lumine came from the same dying world as it was ending.

  30. Abyss is forbidden knowledge, and forbidden knowledge cant be understand in this world there’s two possibilities, the unlikely one is that our abyss sibling got tie to this world with the forbidden knowledge like they got infuse, second a more popular one is our sibling is created from this world a clone of ourself with the forbidden knowledge, in my opinion the second make sense since our abyss sibling is very adamant about reviving “our homeland” and since she was created with forbidden knowledge she is like us but since she’s from this world she can’t leave, that mean we’re both similar that our power is from different and one is a clone of us but the abyss sibling for some reason has abyss power instead of light power like at the beginning, it weird how the power in genshin as all the vision elements seem to tie with the traveler as light and ambition, while the power of delusion elements is like the abyss power tie with god anger, wrath, regret, maybe all combine into agony as we can see how that effect us in the story on how the factory of delusion and signora death put a physical toll on us but somehow the abyss sibling is fine as they wield the abyss power, and the fight with ei we temporarily regain our light power by the ambition of the inazuma people. It would make sense to for the story to be written as our sibling is a shadow of us explaining how they was just a clone of us with abyss magic that got tied to this world due to their origin, maybe we represent light as we are free spirit and travel world to world while our sibling represents dark/abyss due to they being bound down and the heavenly principles being truth represent both. Idk what im writing im just writing my train of thought

Edit- as to the where the abyss power came from to create our sibling? Maybe it got to do with something about the forbidden knowledge that plague sumaru, maybe the forbidden knowledge got to do something with the 2nd/3rd descender, and maybe khaenriah aim is something even more diabolical than the sage, creating their own heavenly principles.
