Reacting to the 2024 Lantern Rite Cinematic || Ft. @PhilipHarts || Genshin Impact OST

@PhilipHarts and I sat down to enjoy the Genshin Impact Lantern rite cinematic which was so full of life and joy. Lantern Rite is always a really special time of year and this particular year, lantern rite definitely felt a bit more subdued than in previous years. Especially noting that that Liyue theme really only appeared once! And very briefly! But, it’s alright – fun all the same.

  1. I really love this lantern rite cinematic, but there's 1 big complaint for me and it's characters that don't have much role in this lantern rite got too small cameo. There're Xingqiu, Chongyun, Xiangling, Yunjin, Xinyan and Baizhu in 0:38 and Ninguang, Yelan, Beidou and Yanfei in 4:56 but they're VERY tiny that you have to zoom in to see.
It would be better if we can them clearly without having to zoom in.

  2. Saw this in Phil's discord and ran over to your Channel to run over and watch and support you Marco!! <3 Much love! Watching Now! So Happy and absolutely excited to see you both doing stuff. On a personal and completely selfish note, when you get around to the MIST OF PANDARIA music in Warcraft, (sings) thinks of me, think of me foundly…. hee hee.

  4. Wow Marco I didn't expect this! So cool to see you guys react together, I loved the video and your energy, and as always, you and Philip were able to understand the story without even playing it yet, amazing.

I'd love to see you both do more videos together! Happy lantern rite to you!

  5. Great video as always!
Any chance you'd listen to the music of Escape from Tarkov? Haven't seen a single video from anyone reacting to it.
Nikita, the CEO of Battlestate Games has made all of the music himself.
Songs like Dark Horizon, Rules of Engagement and The Blood We Spill are favourites of mine!

  6. This is such a great format for a regular type of collab: one of you is a musical storytelling expert, while the other is a cinematoraphy expert, and together you can extract the most out of these cutscenes. If you end up doing this more often, I would be quite happy with this type of content.

  7. While watching this I couldn't help but think of the contrasting storytelling Genshin was using near the later moments in Sumaru. I think this Lantern Rite was Genshin remembering how to tell a story that is grounded in elements we the players can understand. Maybe last year's Lantern Rite, and those high concept stories from those Sumaru land fairies might have been missing. This Lantern Rite honestly felt really good to watch, and reminded me why I like this game. I've personally been so disconnected since late Sumaru and i've been trying to figure out why my disconnect.

  8. I really adored the way they animated the drums here. Its hard to translate the feeling of live drums like that over recorded audio because of course its compressed and normalized to not destroy your ears or devices, but the way they animated the shots of the drummers, you can just feel the power of those drums. The camera shake was just *chef's kiss*, perfect. Not over done, just right on beat with the drums.

I am a little disappointed to see a much smaller cast featured in this years Lantern Rite (I mean, Xingqiu got a whole outfit but didn't appear at all???) because I really love how lively it makes the event feel. I think the second Lantern Rite is my all time favorite for this, when the theme was Fireworks and we got shots of pretty much everyone in the Liyue cast and their interactions with one another. But! I understand their focus was family this time around and there just aren't as many characters in the cast who have important family bonds. At least we got to see how far Ganyu and Shenhe have come in their relationship considering how awkward they were around one another when Shenhe was first released.

  9. So much to absorb from this video with both you and Phil together! The way you played off of each other's insights at certain points was great. It's so much easier to appreciate the way the music and the animation can play off of each other with both of you talking about it. I'd love to see more of it! Honestly, both this video and the Gaming behind-the-scenes creation video that Hoyoverse themselves put out are great for seeing why they might have made certain decisions with his character story and design.
