Opera Singer Reacts to Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie(Fischl's Domain Battle Theme) || Genshin Impact

Holy ever loving crap this song from Genshin Impact’s summer event punched me square in the face and left me with my jaw on the floor. This is the reason I adore, treasure, and love Genshin impact music so very much. It is truly astounding in every sense of the word. Unbelievable. This is the future of classical music. I am HERE for it.

  1. ive edited out the vivaldi example i included. Classical Music folks love to claim their music which is maddening as i'm trying to educate you. So annoyed. Anyway, YES it does sound like Summer. check out 7:00 in any vivaldi summer video…you'll see what I mean

  2. i agree this is the evolution of classical music. since the innovation of classical genre have been literally at peak, the only way to create unique classical compositions in these days is putting classical and 'modern' type of instruments at the same harmony.

remember when you said saxophone has been rarely used in orchestra because it doesn't connect with other classical instruments? imo, electric guitar also should have not connected well. but hoyomix successfully created it. not to mention they added flamenco/classical guitar to baroque composition, people's mind in 1700s would be blown if they're listening to this piece.

another amazing vid as always. love your work, marco.

  3. man.. i got tears for the 1st time in months looking at your genuine reaction to this masterpiece. Your videos create a perfect atmosphere to enjoy music on a deeper level than i am used to, and it's simply amazing! And the feeling of admiring it together with another human being is also great.

  4. I understand how you feel. Sometimes the evolution of music can progress slower than we want it to. There will always be those who strive to create something new and those who want to conserve the old. The beauty of art is that these two can exist together. I'm sure this type of orchestral music Hoyo-mix introduced us to, will be a lot more popular in the near future but waiting can be a pain. I could hear the frustration in your voice and I wanted to say I share your feelings as well 🙂 Thanks for the great videos!

  5. Everytime I hear that "Genshin Impact is a stupid game, only stupid teens play it", I want to force these people to feel the lore, the style and one of the best videogame OSTs I've ever heard. It has so much soul to it, I can't understand how can you call such music bad, no way. If it's not your juice, it's okay, but you can't say it has nothing good about it.

  6. You looked like you had a lot of fun. I'm happy for that. And it also seems like you found a proper method of interrupting the music. A method that you like. But always remember to approach this however you want.
Genshin made me love orchestral and classical music. And it's always been my least favorite type of music. It's hard for me to get into music like that, But there are exceptions. The two that I remmber the most are FGO And Genshin Impact.
This theme goes hard. It feels like the ultimate flex, Though. Hoyo-Mix are amazing.
And there's even more news. We're have a new region, With new and amazing music. Also, It means that we'll have a new weekly boss theme! I can't wait for that.
I'm looking forward to more reactions of Genshin. Andrius, A lot of the other battle themes in the game, And The chasm and Enkanomiya are itching for a reaction!
P.S: If you'll react to Andrius battle theme, Plz make sure it has both phases.
    Anyway, Have a great day/night.

  7. I hope you also take a listen to Ensei from Mai Hime. Requiem of Silence, Chain of Memories and Wish of the Stars from Re:Zero. Aerial Fight from Sword Art Online. YouSeeBigGirl, Before Lights Out and Vogel Im Kafig from Attack on Titan. any one of those!

  8. Well Fischl's not old, but she is acting out…Archaic-ish. You know, like those students doing some Shakespeare-esque play with copious amounts "Thou" with sprinkels of "Forsooth".

  10. Fischl's not old, she's essentially roleplaying. Her mirage told us a lot about her and she actually won a lot of my sympathy, I like her now much more than I used to.
The classical guitar part after the buildup is Fischl's theme from her feature video, just put into very different context. You may want to check it out, just for comparison.
I love this battle theme. I had to stop while fighting in the mirage to listen to it because it was so nice. And since then I played it as OST on YouTube countless times just as background music. Funny thing, even though it has so much tension and energy in it, it also calms me down and helps me concentrate.
And yes, I love how Yu Peng Chen can integrate modern instuments like electric guitar and synthesizers with classical. I certainly hope this is the future of music or at least part of it. We must not forget that even violin and piano used to be modern instruments. It's just the fact that they're used for a long time now that they're considered classical.

  11. Genshin music seems to have life in it. It is one of those soundtracks you can listen to without needing any of the visuals for which it was composed (but the visuals are so much enhanced through it).
Edit: A small correction for the translation: Mittsommernacht-Fantasie means mid-summer-night fantasy (you forgot the night) however, very well pronunciation, I applaud you!

  12. To put this song in context, this battle music was used in the Golden Apple Archipelago event, a temporary event set on a series of small islands that becomes available for one six week cycle, then disappears. This year's event had four main islands that transformed according to the dreams and memories of one character each. It seems like the islands will come back every year but in a different form. So Fischl's castle will most likely never come back again.

So in other words, this is the battle music from one fourth of an event that only lasts for six weeks, then is gone forever.

The fact that the composer would put this much effort into something so small and temporary is mind-blowing.

  13. Yeah the coposers feel that too, I feel that they want to deliberately break out of the regular confines of classical music but still using the systems. They just know the potential that it has and push it to the next level.
Many VGM composers play really well with the boundaries between musical genres and musical systems, but I feel the ones that really push them to the limit would be Yu-Peng Chen and Masayoshi Soken.

  16. you know what I love about all of this?? . . . They know that youngers would never go to a concert of classical music… but they know that a videogame is an excellent way to spread culture. We are consuming REAL CULTURE without realised ♥♥♥
