No characters get nerfed. They only get out performed by new characters or countered by new content. Characters can also be really weak then strong again do to meta changes in what kinds of enemies you are fighting the most.
All the peeps who say that Xinyan is trash are sooooo dumb. I main her and she is awsome. They forgot about her themselves and i have never seen a Xinyan hater even try to build her. I did and she is good and my favorite character alongside Lisa. So, firts play with her before talking, that's my message.
Aloy is pretty good. Again, people never give certain characters a chance. But i do, and she is awsome. Your chat was shitty full of people who clearly don't know what there saying. Don't get yourself fooled by the twitch chat.

AHH I’m so glad if you’re coming back to genshin?!? and don’t worry you probably remember this but even if there are a lot of characters you can’t get them all just yet because each of them have their own time limited banner so you can try and get whoever got a rerun. And as for the story we’ll progress with you! Honestly it’s always fun to see new players reacting to the lore!
Note if you’re playing just play whoever character you like most and don’t just choose just because they’re the ‘best’ every character technically could become a good dps if you have good artifacts

Qiqi is actually a decent character now that the artifact set "Ocean-hued Clam" exists.
Genshin is actually a pay to lose game. The more you pay to get more character, the worse overall your characters are.

the dub is pretty good but paimon dub exists which ruins the experience tbh
everyone who says they hate paimon just hate her dub, she's honestly super cute in japanese, chinese and korean
just… incredibly annoying in english
also, some characters are just much less interesting in the english voices, hu tao especially
also whatever the hell they did with xinyan's voice, it doesn't suit her at all, and xiao sounding like an edgy teen

Fischl is still a main dps and still Amy has a special place in my heart
You can cross link a Mihoyo/Hoyoverse account with your PSN account if you want to pick up where you left off. Just visit the website to download the game and get instructions on how to link for progress saving, or just start fresh on PC. Depends on how far you got on PS4 before you quit.
There’s so many great voice actors in the English dub and has more variety in terms of tones in the voices. Specifically Griffin Burns (Childe), Christian Banas (Thoma), Khoi Dao (Albedo), Keith Silverstein (Zhongli) and I could list more but it would make this comment very long 😂
Buuuttt at the end of the day, it all comes down preference.
