My Honest Final Review on Sumeru! [Genshin Impact]

#genshinimpact #genshin
Woah, I don’t usually have unscripted videos on my channel, but people get a whiplash when they hear my normal talking vs my lore talking. HAHAHAHA. Anyway, here’s my final thoughts on my favorite nation in Genshin. I was going to have this scripted but I was like

“now where’s the fun in that??”

  1. For me some of my favorite parts were 1. The sabzeru samsara. I LOVED this quest SO much and enjoyed every second, they did it so well, every loop you learn something new, the way we could only choose one option, hearing traveler's thoughts was a nice feature, and when traveler left the city and we didnt know till we got a message from ourselves was so good and they made everything so creepy and alarming, and nahida is just such a good character, she helped us just enough. I also love the final heist so much because they didn't tell us the plan. We knew they had a plan but didnt know what it was until it happened, alhaitham pretending to betray traveler was so good, and then traveler and paimon revealing it was part of the plan, and yes i love dehya. I also loved the fight with the balladeer. The only couple things i didn't like was 1. Scaramouches interlude. I may just be dumb but i did NOT like that he erased himself. It was absolutely unnecessary, and im interested to see how they're gonna explain the absence of the sixth harbinger spot as well as absence in memories. Another thing was dottores clones, its a shame bc i really wanted to see more of them, but maybe one is enough. Another thing thats been bothering me for a while is that child has been suspiciously absent for a very long time. Last time we saw him was in the labyrinth with xinyan i think, when he said he was chasing scaramouche, that was before signora's funeral i think. Just interesting. But yeah i can't wait for fontain, its honestly been pretty boring without any new archon quests for a while, even if the events are pretty fun
OH one more thing, and this is kinda weird, but i've noticed that traveler really doesn't feel like part of the group with sumeru characters. Idk he just feels more like an outsider compared to monstadt liyue or inazuma. Maybe its bc sumeru is the newest nation, or maybe bc all of the sumeru characters seem to be closer, but u dont get the vibe that traveler is really a part of the group, or at least i dont. Its just interesting

  2. The complexity of sumeru story is miles better than inazuma. And it is better than Liyue and Monstadt.
The thing I want to complain is not enough voice-over. There is too much text to read. Like golden slumber quest voice-over will be epic!

  3. I guess because of the games i play i see things in a different light.
Sumeru was good but I can say this. Genshin is a game that if you only play it you can be happy. BUT if you ever get busy or pick up another game your will to play goes down a little. I play Genshin for story (I play a combat game for story, yes. Most games I play even if i don't like them i want to finish the story) but i can say because Im in college the one thing I wish they did was break up the story's more. like the Aranara quest was so long, and so many unusual words, i just wish it was given in smaller parts.
    side notes:
The 5 stars being more involved in stories than 4 stars makes perfect business sense to make you more likely to want 5 stars. so as long as the 5 stars a written well I'm good.

I think AR 60 will just be the limit, most games i play cap you at 70 or 55 so I'm assuming genshin is the same. Idk why games do this but they do

  4. Not playing the rainforest and desert world quests is honestly missing out on ALOT. they are long but you get so much rewards and lore esp in the desert quests. Especially the npcs in golden slumber and dirge of bliquis are amazing. I also love the quests from the latest desert area and the new sorush gadget and puzzles are so much fun. Plz play them if you havent, its really amazing!

  5. I think it’s very unfortunate that with the huge amount of real world culture references we got, Hoyo still didn’t manage to create characters with darker skin tones. They are living in a literal desert and they are basically all white. I know that China has a problematic view on all of this but a large part of the fanbase isn’t from China and is waiting desperately for not white chars. Our only hope now can be Natlan, since Fontaine and Snezhnaya are based on France and Russia, I don’t have any hope that we will be getting non-white chars there…

  6. Am I the only one that think Paimon negatively impact the quality of the story and quests she is in? MC looks a retard that she bosses around and explains obvious things to.

  7. I absolutely adored Sumeru from its new mechanics and characters and their developments, enemies and also lore wise we got so many infos Sumeru is one of its kind! And let’s not forget the door to khaenriah

  8. I find it strange you guys are complaining about too much content. For me, Genshin didn’t have enough content. I am at 100%; the only things I have left are three endings for Heizou, five for Faruzan, and five for Layla (haven’t unlocked it yet). But in terms of events, mini games, archon quests, exploration, and so on, I finished all the content. I don’t have as much time to play as I might have when I was younger. Hopefully Fontaine will bring on more content.

  9. I’ve loved sumeru. I really hope they add a new endgame mode that’s at least somewhat combat related in Fontaine, even if it’s more casual friendly. But totally agree on pretty much everything you said tbh

  10. I love Sumeru and I only have few problems with it
    1. the quests are to long, I'm some one who loves to hear the lore and the characters talking but I ended up just skipping everything because it was way to long.
    2. the characters are way to weak, I don't focus on the meta, I will never build Fishl, Bennet, Sucrose, Xingqiu, or Xiangling but I can't play a character if they aren't able to do damage.

  11. YESSS i love how characters speak in honkai star rail and i noticed this too in genshin. I feel like they thought if a character is more chill is going to take us away from the story but idk, it just was not the case, it was well executed like they do in star rail which imo the start of the story seems way heavier than our start in monstadt soo ye you can defenitely balance that out

  12. A long comment but short review of the Sumeru experience:
The archon quest was good with a number of interesting ideas, the cast was mostly well used though Nilou always feels like a shoehorn.

The side quests get worse. Jeht's quest is good and it's nice to see some NPCs show up to show that people without visions can matter like Jeht and Dunyarzad. The Aranara quest was a burden and the Pari questline was worse. The Aranara quest contain a more detail about the way Teyvat works than you'd anticipate, but it's a lot of text with no narration and that just makes it like more and more of a slog. Additionally it feels like an opportunity to have roped in a Sumeru character, like the Aranara quest could have used someone like Collei to further develop her post-Elezar. Likewise the Pari quest could have used Faruzan instead of trotting out the backstabbing guide again. How many times do you get backstabbed by a quest guide in Sumeru? Four? Five times?

Sumeru is interesting in that these patches have produced some of Genshin's strongest characters and its weakest. Nahida is obviously one of the best characters in the game, possibly the best 5 star. And it also had Dehya, the polar opposite. We also saw Faruzan, a very C6 dependent character. Many of the 4 stars are actually quite well designed and a number fit into teams, even Collei managed a fit in Nilou teams despite my low expectations for her.

Sumeru added a number of overworld tools and interactions. The grapple stars were an excellent addition and its a shame that they can't retroactively be added to Liyue which sorely needs them for many of that region's vertical cliffs, mountains, and spires. Hopefully these won't be region locked, or we'll see equivalents in new areas. However, Sumeru is the region of plenty and this applies to its overworld interactions. When I find something with a white glow there is often a sequence of me trying to remember whether it needs a straight dendro hit, an electro one, a pyro one. Maybe it's hydro? Or is this one of the things where I have to use a dendro core? Or is it one of the green flying things that I have to locate? Or maybe the Pari gadget?

The inter-Darshan event was decent in terms of main questline, but had some of the most patronizing mini-"games" like the weasel jump. The fungus pokemon autobattler events were alright and could have had a bit more depth.

The star of the release was the Dendro reaction and its ability to burgeon the value of existing characters like Kuki, Yae Miko, Thoma, and even Lisa was an excellent shake up, let alone the actual quality of the Dendro Main Character. Hopefully Hoyo considers using Fontaine to consider developing a few more 2-step reactions to help things like Geo and Physical find some more footing again.

Fontaine has a lot to live up to and I'm not optimistic that it will live up to Sumeru. With the teasing of underwater swimming and Fontaine being the Hydro nation it is quite possibly going to end up as "Genshin's Water Level". Swimming traversal in Genshin is already one of its worst movement mechanics, whether its worse than climbing cliffs is your own discretion. A lot of the character art leaked for Fontaine seems to have a lot of overlap with each other, hopefully the region has its own standout characters that help feel significant to Genshin's larger plot.

  13. The biggest problem I had with Sumeru is that it had way too many long world quests which is ok to have but world quests do not have voice acting making them really boring. I started watching videos while spamming clicks instead of trying to understand the story

  14. I love everything in sumeru except the character design (personality wise they're lovely but the colorism was not it) I'd also say some kit design was questionable (dehya) but I'm not too knowledgable on game meta to comment on that

    P. S. Also endgame content pls hyv I beg you

  15. for someone who played gensin for the music, honestly it's dissapointing. if i have to rank the music from top to bottom, it would be Liyue, Mondstadt, Inazuma, lastly Sumeru. the sounds and melody doesn't leave an impression. there is no character music that's outstanding. only two four-star characters have great music, Collei & Faruzan. the outstanding music only comes from this year lantern rite, and Baizhu's room background music. in summary, Sumeru Music is underwhelming and dissapointing.

  16. Sumeru archon quest was my favorite. Because this time characters were pretty active throughout the quest. Also we witnessed Scaramouche character devolopment.
On the other hand i really dont like Inazuma archon quest. It had too much potential but they ruined it with their own hand by uwufying Raiden Shogun. At least she should've face with consequences. But all she did was fighting with her puppet. And after traveler beating her whole inazuma literally forgot things she had done. They anger lasted like 0.1 sec.

  17. I got to say the most hated thing I found was all the dialog. For someone that does not play the game to read everything (reason why I love your videos along with other content creators). I found it bad. Like you can get up with it been on auto and get a drink or do something and come back it still not finish. It is not to bad when it was voiced over that you didnt have to read. But even the events in the patches you could have 30 minutes of dialog just to setup so you can do the event.
