I think Everyone has different kind of playstyles, yeah Hu tao is the single target queen but she is a polearm user I think mohoyo made yoimiya also a single target here in order to have a wide range of single target units for all types of weapons in the futures we should expect a sword single target pyro dps in my own opinion hehe

About Yoimiya and her ICD, I'd like to mention that even tho she can't apply reaction on every single hit, if you look at the dmg % of every hit and match it with her ICD, you notice that her strongest attack is usually timed with the reaction. So even if she didn't have ICD restriction, her "weak" attack would still be the weakest, although they'd Vape, IE. You'd usually vape every 1st, 3rd and 5th attack (Which has the highest % dmg modifier, exept for the first one which is a 2 hit combo), if you'd pair her with Xingqiu.
ive noticed that most of the new characters are almost impossible to build at c0 for me as a low spender
they all have gimickey problems that get conveniently fixed at a higher constellation and its kinda scummy to me
also i don't care about meta but any character with more than a 10-20 second cooldown is a no for me
i skipped childe 3 TIMES because of that smh
With thoma having less dmg scaling since he has more shield absorption and shield refresh in his kit, ICD is a blessing. He won't steal elemental reactions and he will focus on shielding. Imagine someone cursing because thoma stole elemental reactions that was for the pyro dps to proc.
So long as these "limitations", constellation locks etc… Don't affect open world exploration, boss battles, quests / story progression, events, then I continue to play and buy welkin/bp. Abyss will be 12* minimum for BP.

I personally straight up don't summon for characters with IDC issues bc I know what Mihoyo is trying to do and I'm not falling for that trap. I really wanted Thoma but I'm skipping just bc of that. For me I judge every character at c0 and if I get constellations in the future I get it but my decision on to roll or not comes from how they are at c0 bc I know at the end of the day, powerful constellations are just a way for Mihoyo to make money and for me personally, they don't add fun to the game. If a character isn't fun at c0 then they are not for me. That's what happened with Sara too, I really was looking forward to her but after realizing her kit was a little locked behind c2 I didn't even bother building my c0

Honestly, I have more than enough characters for whatever the game throws at us now and with ICD being a thing, I have even less incentive to buy gems and pull for newer characters.
I would say Mihoyo made Genshin Impact so lazy bring entertainment into intended game system gated Hack and Slash way to kill them faster especially break their elemental shield don't destroy SO FAST!!!
Honestly the first time I heard of icd was when aloy first dropped in 2.1 and I still dont understand it till this day.
To be honest ICD(Internal Cooldown) on any reaction is kinda realistic at least for me.The ICD exist in the game but it really doesn't affect me that much.
I don't understand why Mihoyo wants to hold back this characters with "ICD" when its only a PVE game. Also the fact that some characters need a constellation in order for them to work is pure BS. Imagine buying a burger and they only give you the meat now you need to buy the other ingredients again to enjoy the burger or just suck it up…

This sounds like they are nerfing characters to drive player to pull for constellations instead of just rewarding us for just pulling on the banners. Oh… right, it’s a gotcha game. I forget how scummy this practice can get.
I think having powerful Constellations isnt really a bad thing, but I do think the character should be very good at c0 too
I think your premise is a bit off. It's not Inazuma characters are more icd restricted, it's vap/melt centric characters has icd exceptions in their kit. (Hu Tao's charged attack, Ganyu's charged shot, Xiangling's ult, Diluc's E, etc.) Plenty of 1.0 characters are icd restricted, standard icd is far more common, but that doesn't mean there aren't ways around standard icd.
XingQiu for example has standard icd, but because how many times per rainsword wave he hits his icd resets on a single target due to the 3 hit rules. This is also why attack speed is going to be a thing sooner or later because it's one of the ways to reduce icd on a character.
Also, even if Yoimiya has no icd doesn't make her better at vap/melt because no hydro/cryo characters can keep up with her pyro application anyways if Yoimiya has no icd on her normal attacks, so she ends up single target enabler without icd.
Simply put. Vaporize and Melt currently only works off icd exceptions, characters without icd exceptions are not as good at vap/melt reactions. Standard icd is actually the norm.

Yes, in a sense as, you don’t want a character at C0 to one shot every boss/enemy, and can get even more broken by requiring there constellation(s)

Past 5 start characters are actually pretty crack at C0, like Eula, Ganyu, Venti, Zhongli, and so on…
All crack in there own way, from strength, crowd control, shielding, and future characters to come…
I’m just talking about a* character by themselves, not including team comps characters helping them amplify there potential even further.
So take in account, MiHoYo is balancing the game, in there own way.
Is it the best? No.
It sucks, but it is what it is.

The difficulty of abyss increases because people with constellations complaint that the game is too difficult. This new trend means that more people will hyper focus on a few characters and beat abyss easily, while the ones who want to collect new characters will not be able to 36* every abyss
imo, ICD is there to balance the elemental reaction for fast/multi hitting character (polearm user) and slow hitting character (claymore user). hence why ICD have a hit counter (every 3 hit) and time counter (every 2.5s),
as for yoimiya, i think mihoyo design her to be a non reaction on field dps so ICD on yoimiya doesnt really matter. the problem is the difference between c0 and c6 yoimiya, because she doesnt do as much dmg at c0, so i guess ppl want her to be able to do reaction to do higher dmg and feels she has ICD issues (i might be wrong). while c6 yoimiya just do pew pew pew and not having to worry about reaction.
lets think it another way, what if yoimiya have no ICD on her normal. would she be good/better? by pairing with xingqiu with no ICD c0 yoimiya, in this case will yoimiya be the one doing reverse vape or xingqiu the one that vape. then have about c6 yomiya that have chance to deal extra hit in her normal atk, will she be able to do more reverse vape?

MIHOYO is getting greedier and more greedier they dont really care for low spenders or f2p player and many of them makes it worth to content creators to spend thousands but Mihoyo propably doesnt think that way
Who's gonna use new 4 star characters with restrictions and limitations when 4 stars with no restrictions like Bennett, Xiangling, and Xingqiu already exist? I like Sara as a character but why should I use her when Bennett exists? Why should I use Thoma when Xiangling and Xingqiu exist? I have a feeling that all upcoming 4 stars will be purposefully designed to be lackluster that's why I am gonna focus on 5* characters from now on. I think that's what Mihoyo wants moving forward. Forget the 4 stars just get the 5 stars since only 5 stars characters can match Bennett, Xiangling, and Xingqiu.
I just wish Thoma was the "de facto" pyro applicator :(. I mean… we have XingQiu for hydro, Fischl for electro, and maybe Ayaka/Ganyu/Kaeya? for Cryo. A "sticky" pyro applicator would be SO NICE for Cryo and Hydro dps characters for melt and vaporize respectively. I was hoping someone could out-apply my Childe's hydro application, so he himself could be the vaporizer instead of being the enabler… oh well 🙁
I don't really care when it comes to 4*s because we're all eventually gonna get them at C6 but it's another story when you need cons for 5*s to be worth pulling for… 5*s should be great to play for everyone at C0 and cons should be bonuses to make them super amazing so all players can enjoy these characters.
Yoimiya without ICD would Vape less because it would apply too much Pyro.
ICD has existed since the start of the game. So Yoimiya's kit is set up in a way to allow her to Vape her biggest attacks.
Many new characters are bad so I'll avoid pulling for them and wait for the old ones to come back. I rather play the same 10 good characters on all of my accounts than play something I don't enjoy just for diversity.

I am okay with the co and c6 power and quality of life gap. As long as the game is very playable and fun at c0-2 I am fine with that. The whales want to whale…. give them what they want beyond just collecting. Since there is no PVP… It doesn't directly impact my game play.
People have to understand it takes more work and effort to obtain the financial means to have nicer stuff. How is this any different. If I can't afford to whale in an F2P game… Then either I get another job, spend less elsewhere, give up something, or accept that I am not willing to apply more effort into creating the opportunity to whale. We are not owed anything. F2P get an awesome free game… If you want the better stuff… You have to buy it. Life is not the cake walk some people want it to be. It will never be, so get hustling.

Def should be balanced around c6 tbh. I'm fine with some characters not being as good or having a different play style at lower constellations. Makes the game more interesting that way and that way people will focus on pulling characters they like instead of being so deadset on just waiting around for the invisible new meta/dps chatacter
1:24 Yoimiya has no problem with Vaporize / Melt. If anything she's the only Pyro Main DPS character with consistency with Forward Melt due her utilization of 3-Hit Rule allowing her to bypass ICDs.
If her Pyro application was stronger then she would always be the one applying aura first and her teammates would be triggering it (like Childe.) Likewise this would mean that she would actually be losing damage. Her application has always been fine.
Yoimiya's weaknesses have always been that she's single target and that she must Vape/Melt "very specific attacks" in her combo chain (one of which is her finisher) which because of her relying on 3-hit rule can easily go out of sync (resulting in a significant DPS drop) if she has to dodge.
You can have carries using this Quanity > Quality approach but Yoimiya has demonstrated the consistency problems involved as well as a certain unique strength for Pyro/Hydro (utilizing forward reactions as a carry) that it has over traditional ICD based carries of the same element.
im still clinging on the 8th archon thoery and that he/she would be the archon of time and would be able to lower CD on skills or completely remove the CD after using burst. Not gonna lie it'd be op but you'd have to make a team with fast charging bursts and would then switch to said archon if those burst were charged up again but on CD. the archon of time and raiden shogun would probably be the meta tbh
Mihoyo adding this concept for the NEW flavour for the game , more experiments, and more team comps..

I think Mihoyo just realized they screwed up with the percentages for melt/evaporate, that the meta was/is too focused on those reactions. Getting away from that is actually better for more casual players, as it means a character can be designed to be more powerful without the reaction. That opens up more team compositions and makes you less reliant on specific characters. Yes, they are probably putting some better ones up front, to entice rolling from something other than C0 or C6, but ICDs don't matter for that. If a character could vaporize 100% of their attacks, then you just make those attacks smaller without vaporize, so that, with Vaporize, the numbers are where you want them.
Of course, the flip side is that a bunch of characters already exist from before them learning that lesson. And until enough new characters are introduced, the focus will still be on those characters… Xiangling, Xingqui, and so on. And furthermore, we have characters that desperately need lower ICDs on some of their powers for them to be worth using, like with Yoimiya's burst, which is weaksauce. Of course, they could just buff the numbers without changing the ICD, but her burst is lackluster.
Also, I wouldn't say that they are changing constellations because of ICD. We have bad constellations on older characters (hiya, Qiqi), but we also have really good ones (Fischl's, for example). And for newer characters, that applies as well. Kokomi's and Sara's are both kind of lackluster.

Characters should be playable at C0 (Sara is functionally defective before C2), Yoimiya was advertised as a burst DpS while given a burst that can’t be triggered by her, have very low multiplier and artifacts set that prevent you from doing her burst. Damage wise she is not bad but also she was given a reset on her e multiplier whenever she dodged (now Tohma can be a good shielder for her that prevent her from dodging and thus make her get to the highest multiplier hit but at the same time this will make players be lazy at dodging and made them be worse at the game in the long run). Currently 4 stars need C4 or C6 to actually do their support capabilities and given low scaling and energy regeneration issues. 5 stars are drastically different in term of damage at C2 further at C6 (if they want us to pull for characters constellations then remove the 50/50 from banners)

i think xingqiu is a pretty decent constelation example. as a 4star. viable at c0, c2-5 add a little bit here and there, c6 just gives an extra reliable hydro/ stupid damage.
