I only dislike the hair they look similar to eula and her hair looks like she got in hair pulling fight i prefer the ponytail fanart ayato although i prefer the official clothes

I'm not sure where you're going with the darkness and light. I understand what you are asking for, but I think it isn't a good take.
He's stereotypical royal class. Ayaka should be a good one to show a glimpse at what he is about based on her demeanor and character. She behaves in a polite, but calculated type way. Would stand to reason that she got it from her family.
I never thought I'd agree with you THIS much on Ayato. I'm also a little disappointed and I ALSO expected him to be more like Byakuya, or at least pre-reveal Aizen.
Then again, I've never heard him speak. Good, well-directed voice acting can completely swing my opinion on a character. Looks aren't everything. Ningguang looks dope but dear God when that woman opens her mouth I fall asleep 🤣 Super bland and one-dimensional, no offense to her fans.
Also, I don't know if you've talked about it before (I've only started watching you recently) but I really wish we had some buff, muscular characters in Genshin. The shoulder width especially is killing me with some of these models like Diluc/Zhongli. I understand the appeal of the shota/teenage boy model to some extent but damn is it humiliating to walk around Liyue harbor or Inazuma where the port workers/samurai could break you in half like a twig lmao
Itto's a little better but he's still skinny, they just slapped an abs texture on him 🤣
Other people have probably said this but I think him looking very different to his personality (that we know of) is the point, he is supposed to look fancy and neat and a perfect high class citizen due to the fact he had to be the face of the Kamisato Clan at a young age, his whole life he has had to keep up certain appearances when deep down he is a very different person

Personally I think that fans set their expectations wayyy too high (with the fanarts) they knew that something like this was possibly going to happen and now that it did they are upset. While I would've loved ayato with maybe a longer hairstyle or maybe a ponytail like the old hairstyles seen in those old films I think that his short hair is pretty . I also thought that maybe he'd have traditional clothing like a kimono or something. The color palette in the official art seems kind of bland in my opinion I feel that they could've done a cool oceanic pattern (because he's hydro) and i think a pattern like that would've looked AMAZING on a kimono. While yes I understand that people feel let down it doesn't mean that they should go out of their way to harass people who like it or constantly complain because what's done is done and hes probably not going to change.
He looks like Thavas and that, I like. They need to do a Genshin x Card fight Vanguard collaboration. It would be cool asf to have him as a Aqua Force unit.
With Ayato that means Ayata. So honestly, I might pass 2.5. Depends on my hands on with the Yae and Shoguns demo.

I'm not hyped about Ayato, bc otherwise I'll regret not pulling for him. That happened with Yae already, bc I'll skip her for Kazuha and it hurts so freakin much bc I was so hyped for getting her.

He looks like a feminine snowflake. Like Enmu from demon slayer or Yumichika Ayasegawa from bleach. This was the biggest turnoff for me 🤮

i was honestly really underwhelmed with ayato’s design and i wasn’t sure why at first, but then i saw a post that had a side by side comparison with his character art and a picture of baizhu and i realized they looked EXACTLY the same, just different hair and clothes 🥲🥲🥲🥲 his clothes also kind of seem like an inazuma riff of zhongli’s outfit and i just…… sigh 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
While I'm happy with this design, these were good takes. I do think some aspects of the design could've been better, in particular the pose and facial expression. Imo he should have had an expression similar to Yae's splash art, that being graceful and soft but with an air of mystery about him. Ayato who leaves people questioning what he's thinking or up to, and I think that could've been portrayed better.
That said, I personally think the suit look is nice overall. It's representative of the Meiji restoration, a period of great historical significance to Japan and what it is today. While I personally would've preferred a touch more traditional elements, I'm still glad his look wasn't just Ayaka but a man. That would've been cool to be sure, but this makes Ayato stand on his own a lot better in my opinion. Same can be said of the shorter hair, as I believe Childe is currently the only older male character to have straight up short hair. Ponytails are a dime a dozen on Genshin men, this switches it up.
Regardless, great video. I like seeing other people's takes on the design and having a dialogue about it. I've been waiting on Ayato's release since I heard discovered an NPC talk about him in 2.0, can't wait to see the hype train keep rolling
Personally I love his outfit. Like really love it because it went beyond my expectations. The problem I have with him is the face and the hair color.
He does look like Baizhou which makes me feel like his hairstyle should’ve been made more unique in order to draw the line with the differences.
And the fact his hair is light blue bothers me too. Because they went for a more relaxed and dignified direction with his design but light blue is too llamative a color.
All i wanted for ayato was that he wear a kimono, not other Male on thight ass pants that make your buttchecks miss each other through the day
Agree 100% To me its sad to me because he is from Inazuma so I expected a more classical Japanese design. There will be plenty of other characters from regions that will have more "western" styles so to me its a missed opportunity for cool samurai style characters.
He might switch personality after ult /gaining stacks

Ayato's design is literally his valentine day outfit. Not sure why they went for that, it doesn't even fit Inazuma clothing in general.

Okay, I respect your opinion that he might not suit your taste or can. That is totally fine. Just to make it clear tho, if you were on Ayato_Mains sub reddit last couple of months, we KNEW almost every detail about his looks other than seeing him.
Heck we even knew he got redesign and they moved his mole to mouth from his eye. We knew he had white marine-suit like outfit (Black Butler outfit was another description we got which I think was spot on), short hair from front, blue colored hair, leather shoes.
His description from the NPC's and in game stuff, fits perfectly what is given. He should have look innocent. Darkness is in his mind not on his outfit or face and that is why people think he is cool (in game NPC's). His Japanese va fits his looks perfectly too. The Ayato you wished to see was never here and Akira Ishida's voice doesn't even suit the look you gave. The Ayato you gave wouldn't be best friends with Itto and wouldn't be the only person Sayu likes, he looks cold. But he supposed to look cunning like Yae Miko not cold and I believe his smile gives that.
Maybe your description fits a bit more English VA's voice. I can see that voice with your description. But that is why everybody thinks his best VA's Japanese and Chinese. They both give of his playfull/cunning but elegant pretty face energy.
A nobleman from Inazuma watching Itto's performance in a pants for highschool student and a loose Yukata under a tight tuxedo with wings. Audience would look at him thinking that he is the next performer who's going to dance tango onstage, "Yes milord," indeed. 🤣
Wasn't he also very young when he became head of the clan? So that would mean it didn't happen too long ago I suppose but that's the way I look at it
I agree 100%, he looks like he is gonna go fencing. But Genshin has been great in building personality and acting through the voice actors, so he can still be a badass. Love the kindgom hearts music at the end. Your vids are great, peace!

That's literally my thoughts. Honesltly i dont like ayatos's eyes . I expected eyes like a warrior' or samurai eyes. Sharp and angry. But it looks like a sleepy guy.

your argument of "i don't see any darkness" is exactly the point. you can't see past that smile, hence why people don't know that he shouldn't be messed with.
additionally, given that the shogunate rule was based on the edo period, the period after the shogunate rule was probably taken into account when designing him as there are western influences. the people of inazuma must move past the shogun's rule and i do believe that is the intention behind the design. it was even blatantly shown to us that the kamisato clan was not even in agreement with the shogun's rule. the themes fit all too perfectly
additionally, who gave you the impression that he is like war kind of guy? sure, he knows the art of sword and polearm. however, you have seemed to overlook a few key details about what his role is in inazuma. he is a political figurehead, taking over the kamisto clan at a very young age. now, who are the kamisato? those in charge of inazuma's CULTURAL affairs and nothing like the kanjo commission who is focused in ritou and its borders and the Kujou clan who SAFEGUARD inazuma. It seems there was a lapse in realising that the tri-commission has a different branch for each role.
these are all things readily available to us in the story and i don't think that measly little paragraph from the wiki should have been used as your entire basis of judgement. i doubt what you had in mind was not the intent of the character from the beginning. if you want to judge how you think a character should look based on what you have read, maybe a full read of what the character is like is a necessary step.
Same. I was kinda disappointed with his art. I get his style (but wished it was a bit diff) but its his face that i dont like. Its a bit too "pretty face". I was looking for a lil bit smirk, mischievous smile. Also his sleepy eyes, not a fan. Hopefully his personality wins me over soon

A lot of ppl made amazing fan arts forsure. But you should probably wait until you see his in game model because it looks incredible. I personally love his design and will 💯 be getting him along with yae miko.
