  1. I'm NOT pulling on the banner, skipping all the way to shenhe /Ganyu or Yae. BUT I am looking forward to eventually getting Thoma one day from standard. I don't have and don't care about Zhongli so I use Noelle Xinyan and diona a lot so I love shielders so I'm gonna love using Thoma as a shield support. Looking forward to it one day.

  2. He's fine, but he really wants a couple constellations to become optimized, which not the best thing i guess. Another one character with "create a problem and sell contellations to fix it" balancing.

  3. So i think thoma is a 6 for me the reason is that for and actual no reason his burst actually gives you res to interruption which is pretty nice ,his shield is also probably the second best shield that can take dmg (which i wasn t expecting at all )and his energy rechage is actually pretty good (creates 3 or 4 pyro particles everytime he uses his normal skill) and then the meh that is his pyro aplicación and dmg overall(im not saying i want him to do the same dmg has a zhongli cuz that would be incredibly pepega so its actually good that he doesn t have good dmg )

  4. Thoma can give interruption resistance even after the shield broke just like the Geo Resonance… With him around yer gonna have a shield that's a 4* worth unlike Zhongli, and an easy Pyro Resonance plus Interruption Resistance… I still haven't tested how much it is but he's good on my Chongyun Team hehe

  5. I think Lily made a great vid explaining why he's good. He is what a balanced character should be. Thoma provides constant shields, making it so youre not interrupted when enemies attack, but you still need to be good enough to dodge attacks and all. Basically he is anti stagger shielder rather than anti damage. We all know that Zhongli is broken, its because he does both of those things well. Thoma is a balanced version for someone who wants no staggers and pyro application.

  6. Pretty disappointed with him. Was hoping I could at least use him with Hu Tao but he kinda screws up vape and his cooldowns are long enough that you get Hu Tao's E back before you get his stuff back so you only really get him once every 2 rotations unless you spend time sitting around waiting for him.

  7. his cooldown and the stack it make me confused, cuz like if you got his C1 the cooldown is change. it make it lot harder to remember his cooldown time, for me i like to keep swapping the characters to use their skill and ult still….sometime after you done with three skill used his still not ready yet but i really like how good he is with childe together it make it more powerful

  8. Most Inazuma characters are so niche. If this keeps on I'll just keep investing in the Mondstadt and Inazuma cast. There are some exceptions like Raiden and Kazuha which I enjoy. But most new characters are lackluster especially the 4*.

  9. I think his main purpose is really just to give shield and give pyro resonance. The reason they put xiangling with him is just to make it clear that his purpose is not pyro application or damage dealt

  10. Idk man, 4 stars just don’t seem that exciting and unique anymore. At the beginning of the game, we had all these 4 stars that had a lot of potential and were very different. Seeing Fischl for the first time when you turn into Oz and fly him was amazing. Even though Barbara isn’t the best, the fact that she sings and dances to heal was so cool. I just feel like a lot of the newer 4 stars are just a way to get people to gamble on banners since they aren’t guaranteed.

  11. Hes only good for hu Tao teams if you don't wanna do double geo/don't have zhongli as well as don't have elegy amber. His DMG potential isn't that high, he got low numbers and needs a lot of hp and er

  12. I am just going to use him in mono pyro team, with Bennett, Xiangling, and Kazuha. Before, I ran this team with Zhongli, but Thoma has much better synergy for it. Not that I use this team a lot, but it is comfy in some situations (i.e. cryo domains).

  13. I Honestly think Thoma isn’t THAT bad for a 4 star, he’s fun to use, sick and fast normals, medium cooldowns, can apply pyro, constant shields, and dope character design. Imo anything else and he’s a 5 star character. 4 stars can’t be better than 5 star characters and we shouldn’t expect them to be.

  14. I had 27k Primos & 40wishes. I Pulled C1 Hu Tao in 3 10Pulls and Homa in 2 10Pulls. This was the second and third time I hit pity early for the Year I been playing, and I Still have 25k primos. But got No Thoma 🤷🏽‍♂️

  15. i really dont think hes shields offers anything new, i already build shield diona, and he doesnt do dmg . . . the only use will be to protect Hutao and like melt Kaeyas ult? dunno unless thers a comp were hes best in slot hes mainly a good adition to the team for newers players in the look for a f2p shielder. I think mihoyo is trying so hard to make a Xinq or Ben mistake again and they are releasing un interesting characters in the end ill say for players that have a year playing or close to both Sayu and Thoma (tho on looks department they are solid) add nothing to the char pool as a whole BUT as supports but both have their uses especially for new players.

  16. im starting to notice how all the inazuma characters are dirty rain water compared to liyue characters , i know mihoyo is a chinese company and im starting to notice some things that i dont like.

  17. I kinda look at Thoma as someone who can replace your healer in a team. Similar to how Zhongli is used in a lot of teams. Though if you have Zhongli, there isn't much incentive to get Thoma, but that's comparing a 4* to a 5*.

Worse things about him are his base Hp is low when he is clearly designed as mainly a shielder. And his ascension stat being Atk% implies he could be used for damage but his ratios are very low.
And also they need to add a shield health bar. Thoma's shield health literally goes up and down during combat and it's impossible to know how much health it has.

  18. If only it was cheaper to build 4*s….but no. Same stuff it takes to raise a 5* across the board. From hero's wits to boss materials to weekly boss drops. Unless the 4* has inane utility or pairs well with the unit you want, they're not worth the investment.

  19. How I see it after testing, is that he exists so that 1. Hu Tao doesn’t get interrupted mid CA and 2. So Hu Tao can swirl pyro, his shields pretty alright and is above diona level which does suffice. As for ER vs HP management, I do think the ascension stat makes virtually no sense at all, but that’s the same with diona as well so I think that a couple of those apart of the character design team just enjoy giving supports offensive stats.

I run him on a r5 favonius 2 emblem 2 shimenawa- with all HP main stats but around 15-20% ER on each piece, and about 30% crit which works fine since hu tao transfers crit rate also and he serves his purpose fine given that it seems to be pretty obvious he’s only meant to be ran with hu tao who doesn’t use bennet, kind of like how Sara is only really viable in a hyper raiden team.

  20. i definitely think he's ok/ good as long as you don't need damage out of that slot–for instance, i just have him as a shield/ pyro applicator/ resonance thing for my lisa overload team and he does a fine job of keeping her protected while i hold her skill. if one's account lacks stronger units and supports, i don't think he should be that person's priority but the utility is really nice in the right scenarios and i'd be surprised if he didn't become more useful over time as we get new chars/ dendro/ etc.

  21. He's cool and flashy but that's probably it for now. I'd fear that if I manage to get him at this current point of time (which I am not really aiming for) he'd just be another spot on an already packed roster with a long backlog of unit development.

  22. I feel like a sacrificial polearm would help him out a lot especially if his E synergized with the effect and the double casting of his E could stack then he could potentially have 100% uptime… but IF there actually was a sacrificial polearm. Theoretically he could've been comparable to Zhongli honestly IF that were the case.

His C1, C2, C4 and a favonius lance all really help out with maintaining uptime which is super important and if you manage to get him to C6 (and time his kit right) you can pretty much always have a +15% to the whole party's normal attacks BUT that's all locked behind constellations. I think the thing with his shields is that he's more about endurance that builds up over time (if managed effectively) and it requires some dodging in the beginning while all the others are just initially durable upfront and it's done when it's done and I actually kind of like his quick-swapping playstyle… but still his damage is… something… He's not like Bennett levels of op but he's really not as bad as some people are making it sound. Plus it's only been a day and I mean everyone thought Bennett was awful at first so hopium to the max

  23. I think Thoma's shield's damage absorption needs some work. I think the shield's damage absorption scaling needs to be increased. Also, I think there is an issue when the shield is up and Thoma still takes damage.

  24. I pulled him but really not excited due to his kit and 80 cost burst, man I'm tired of characters with a high burst cost.

But this is how the community reacts in general, excited for new hero then forget them after a week or two.

He's a 4* hero only suits Hu Tao.
