Is Genshin Impact REALLY Dying In 2022

With Genshin Impact 2.7 fast approaching I think it’s time we once and for all put to rest the notion of whether Genshin is in a downward spiral. I think people for the most part speak with their emotions more than their brains and here’s why.

  1. I personally think the main problem is that people expect a little bit too much, like they expect a whole new area or some gamebreaking qol change every update just to be disappointed by a new character and a few events, everyone says how Genshin “has so much potential but Mihoyo just doesn’t care (or something similar)”, but correct me if I’m wrong (if I am then the rest of this comment is completely irrelevant), Mihoyo made the game as a sort of stepping stone for future games, and did not expect it to blow up, I mean Mihoyo’s current business model seems to be working, why step out of your comfort zone if no one’s forcing you to do it?

  2. Yep, even I who’ve been a player since literally launch day; I don’t need guides or help or any community interactions. The only “community” I’m left in is a very small one from a discord where the content creator doesn’t even make Genshin content and hasn’t since before 2.0, but there’s like 10 of us who still talk about leaks when we see them. Otherwise, there’s no one else I talk to about Genshin.

I mean even if you look at the character likes on their social media, the ones they reveal nowadays have exponentially more likes and shares than the ones before, like up to twice and thrice as much. I never once believed Genshin was dying cause this isn’t my first gacha game and I know how the communities get when content creators dwindle off and start doing other stuff.

  3. The issue is people on the internet get trapped in an echo chamber of opinions within certain communities and believe that it’s universal simply because it’s all they hear. People need to realize that there’s way more going on beyond the scope of what they hear within the very limited communities they choose to interact with.

  4. Ik that the game is healthy and all but constructive criticism should not stop and theres a huge difference between constructive criticism and blatent doom posting(doom posting being just stupid complaints about the game without providing of any way to fix the issue) which brings us to the real problem here is hoyoverse doesn't care about constructive criticism as long as the game is doing good which means this problem will probably never be solved because the game will always do good despite the fact that you think otherwise… genshin impact has really become an unkillable leviathan of a game… Love it or hate it its there and always will be there

  5. i completely agree genshin is absolutely fine but the comunity is very toxic and i honestly am getting sick of it
I used to watch genshin videos every day at the begining but there isnt really any need for me to watch them anymore since i can clear abyss first try with ease

  6. The game has the same problems now as it did when it launched. Mihoyo hasn't really tried to fix any of those problems, for lack of reason to ever need to do so. After a while, i guess people get really tired of complaining about the same thing for almost 2 years and have nothing change. Like an old man yelling at a cloud. Nothing will change as much as many would like it to change. I have to give it to Miyoho though, they made the game just good enough that people stay disillusioned and think the game still has potential. There is no potential. Genshin is Genshin as you see it now, this is all you will get. Like it or move on, but you all won't move on, and this is why Genshin won't change, and this is why it won't die anytime soon.

  7. I agree 100%. The game is very healthy and for new players it has a lot of free enjoyment through 3 nations already, lots to do!
Basically put, for a new player the experience playing the game is a positive one. But if they go online they find a lot of negative posting and hate about the game. It just does not add up to what they are experiencing in game. So why subject yourself to all that negativity when you can just play at your own pace and have fun?

  8. Changes should start coming by 3.0 (new region/banner mechanics changes/abyss difficulty adjustment / few errors fix here and there / minor modifications in artifact system ) as for the end game the most we are going to get is archon quest progress IMO

  9. I started my own channel and community simply for this reason. Walrus you're the only content creator that has a community where I didn't get destroyed for having opinions.
    Love the video, very true

  10. The thing people forget genshin is a good game is our fault as player to expect or do more, as far a Japan goes since I live here genshin yea I can who doesn’t play but no one much talk about it like I saw a post Reddit they were surprised jp players don’t do commission and if they want a char they pull wallet which is what I do commission are boring lol honestly genshin as a content creator job like the people who cover it yea its a struggle but hoyoverse just keeps winning genshin is a good game yea it just how it is embrace it

  11. The monthly player count doesn't count how long the players are playing but if they log in. So people doing dailies and logging out in 5 minutes still counts…. That's why the numbers are so high. It's inflated by only fomo rather than active engagement. MiHoYo built this into the game so that the shareholders can see people are "playing" the game. But at this point, it's more like login into an app once a day. lol

I wish they could measure actually "play time".

It's the sales count that will really shake MiHoYo up, if we stop feeding them then they have some explaining to do…. they will hit the Facebook wall eventually. (as in no new people using the game/app.)

  12. Im still playing the game, grind for every primogems, im just waiting for 2.7 AND then interact more with the community from there, there really isnt much to talk about the game because of the lockdown in the china and the hiatus that wasnt actually long.

  13. The community isn't dying either. People still get excited about new characters and make fan art. People still make youtube videos of all sorts about the game (music, lore, theories, game play showcase etc.). Sure there is less stuff during a drought where we can't even use the teapot but it's not that bad. When we get more content (especially in 2.8 and 3.0) the community will be even more active, and hopefully less depressing.

  14. genshin is the most f2p friendly game i ever played, but if you talk about the numbers then that's how genshin is designed towards. genshin content is everything for new players and nothing for the old players. people are angry because this game don't provide anything significant for old players in general.

  15. Finally Silent majority in Asia still playing the game with no problem. At least you show numbers of the active and new gamers. We just want to play the game in our own pace. ❤❤ Keep up with the content.

  16. Genshin is doing great. People are just tired of the negativity, and especially from some of the content creators. Its ok to be negative but i personally have stopped watching quite a few just cause thats all it is. Theres good communities out there that will get their day in the sun soon. 🌞

  17. But wait wasn’t China’s Genshin fan base also complaining about Genshin? North America is not the only region complaining about the game. My thing is why make this game available for other regions of the world when you’ll get called a “complainer” for constructive criticism? Mihoyo/Hoyoverse has a monthly questionnaire for this reason no? Clearly they care. We aren’t asking for anything crazy. Want to know what money cares about? More money….period

  18. IDK where to ask but, i have been having this feeling of wanting to start over on a new account since i got rid of the old one, but is it worth it to come back and start fresh with the current state of the game?

  19. Those monthly player numbers aren't accurate, u have to take into consideration of the amount of reroll accounts. And ppl are allowing to criticize someone they enjoy or put their money into. Kiss hoyoverses ass isn't gonna make them give us more primos

  20. I agree! I used to follow more communities across different platforms, but now I limit it to about two content creators with Walrus being one of them and Mtashed being the other. Sadly, Mtashed's community seems to be dying because he's not enjoying the game.

I unfollowed other communities because I don't need the info anymore, and some of them were toxic. Regardless, I still very much pay Genshin Impact on my free time and ignored the doom posts.

  21. The game is losing steam – follow Google Trends and its been a slow downhill slide. If they don't improve, I don't see how the game lasts more than another couple years.
