At the end of the day the game is too easy which makes meta irrelevant.
He is going to be mid… like every new character except archons lmao
The one thing i really hate with the recent sumeru 5 stars is the large gap between the one with nahida vs the one without nahida
Hoyoverse has a Male DPS Syndrome. They’re mid or good but never busted like Hu Tao, Raiden, or Ayaka. They have restricted team comps, are hypercarrys and aren’t flexible, niche weapons only suited for them, dps locked behind burst or long cooldowns, needs 4*, energy hungry. Etc etc. this applies to Itto Xiao Wanderer and probably alhaitham. I think hoyo relies on their appearances to sell not their kits.
Watch some spiral abyss runs. The strongest characters are the ones with cracked artifacts. That's why they're so hard to get.
Dehya as a pyro greatsword definitely makes me a bit nervous… fortunately, the Lantern Rite Fest will drain all my primos anyway. Not sure how well a Dendro main will work, but you would think the potential is there, adding a fast style like that of Kequing onto a powerful element like Dendro.
Seeing as there is no end game in sight….i doubt any character that's going to be released will be broken…they'll all be mid aside from archons
Here's the thing , The sole fact that AlHaitham is dendro and has fast application of dendro and in AoE makes him powerful and not mid.
Its like saying Childe/Ayato/Kokomi are mid , but they are never a bad pull because they are Hydro which is a reaction driving element.
Since AlHaitham's dendro application is very good and his scalings are decent enough too.
If i say in terms of Meta obsessed tier list following players – AlHaitham is gonna be a S tier character (not SS , not A)
Whether he’s mid or not won’t matter since their just gonna have you play 500 mini games that don’t make any of his kit matter and their gonna spend more time improving the TCG
The problem with on-field centric characters is you only want one of them on your team. This is why many on-field characters feel "skippable", as the only teams they're going into are teams centered around them, rather than fitting into or enabling a more generalized archetype. At best he might be "Nahida #2" for people trying to run Hyperbloom on both abyss teams, and people who pull for him but missed Nahida will definitely find him easier to use than DMC or Collei, so there's that.
His numbers are out and he's been TC'd. I don't think he'll be "mid" at all. I expect of the on-field main DPS style units he'll be on the higher end of things. Meaning if you like him you can pull for him and get a very strong character, but if you don't like him or his playstyle you can skip him and not be missing out because main-DPS/on field units are a dime a dozen and you can just grab whichever speak to you the most.
I'm 95% sure I'm pulling him, but I want to see how Dehya looks in beta before I full commit. I need to go for Yelan too right after, so unless I start winning a bunch of 50/50s consecutively something has to give.
I like your videos, you have a lot of smart thoughts, so I’m learning a lot from you. Just a minor critique: name pronounciation. Tie-nary and Deya. No big deal, but I just thought I’d help you with that 🙂
While I do agree on some aspects, I disagree on the fact that alhaitham is going to be "mid" af, despite the nerfs his multipliers are still pretty decent (TC say his dmg was adjusted to be just 5% less of the first beta leaks), so his personal dmg output won't be bad. What most people seems to overlook is that he is a dendro character with easy dendro application, so that just makes him a pretty flexible unit to work on a lot of different teams BUT there is a problem on this: He overlaps with nahida on most team comps, and she has the advantage
of applying dendro off-field and buffing your character's EM, something that he does not. Also, HE is dependant on HER for those EM boosts and probable energy issues. Not saying he can't work by himself but his team dmg output with her just gets waaaay better.
at the end it comes down to this (specially for f2p): if you already have nahida, alhaitham won't be adding to much to your account because what he can do, she probably does it better. BUT if you want to get alhaitham and you don't have her, don't worry, he won't be a bad addition to your account. He still does good dmg and even if you underbuilt him, just the fact that he offers easy dendro application with his E makes him viable on teams like hyperbloom. Also, if you already have tighnari it also comes down to what you like. Tighnari is not bad and his kit allows him to be played as a quickswap dps, compared to alhaitham his dmg will probably be a little lower BUT tighnari is excellent at single target scenarios while alhaitham works better as on-field dps and on AoE situations. Again, it boils down to what you like and what you have on your account.
Personally, I see him as ayato or childe. As ayato, cause its a flexible unit, a jack of all trades, a good option but not neccesarily the best, in summary: a balanced unit. And as childe, bc you can use him as an enabler for just applying dendro the way childe does with hydro for international, but alhaitham has it better bc he can work on more than one team compared to him.
Idgaf if Alhaitham is mid, I'll just make him good 🤷🏻♂️😂 that is what it means to be a dedicated Alhaitham main!
I’m more concerned about the gap between an alheitham with his signature weapon vs one with a 4* weapon
after seeing some of the dreams of more mathematical minds than mine, it seems to me many think he'll be a notable step up from tighnari for aggraspread, and i've found tighnari to be surprisingly strong 🤷♂ now if you'll excuse me, i'm about to go 36-star abyss with ease using "mid" characters 😂
Ganyu, Hu Tao, Kokomi, Ayaka, Kazuha, Yelan…
There are plenty of high tier characters apart from Archons. Alhaitham is the lowest effort they have done with a release that I remember, from recycling a character to the overall gameplay. Even Tighnari is more unique
If anyone wants to hear an actual TC’s opinion regarding whether or not Alhaitham will be mid or not, go watch Zajef’s “Alhaitham nerfed, Dendro still broken” video he does a much better job at evaluating his strength.
It's just a little theory, and hunch of mine, but I think HYV is trying to address the problem of grinding in Genshin turning away less dedicated players.
We used to have a meta favoring hyppercarries. People would spend lots of time to invest in them. The big numbers screenshots are rewarding for sure, but let's be honest, farming artifacts in Genshin can feel really really bad. It can take very…. very long as well. They probably got so many people asking to change that or give more resin.
Now when I look at dendro… not only does that element works extremely well with quick swap style of play, it also makes up for lackluster builds. It's an incredibly casual players friendly element. Getting to Sumeru or getting Collei isn't too difficult either.
Sumeru has brought a bigger changed to the game, and to the meta, than I though. Not by bringing crazy strong characters, but opening an alternative way to get great results for less… dedicated players. When I started a new account recently, I realized that my experience of early game is now incredibly outdated. It surprised me. That's how much the game changed without me noticing when I've been at it since the start.
I could still do the same things I did the first time, but it's actually less effective now. I was wondering how new players were going to catch up, or deal with the lock on Inazuma's region. I guess this is how. Dendro felt really powerful to me on my main, but my account is already set and build. But at low investment? it's good, but not broken or anything.
It's hard to get used to less impressive characters upon release… but HYV, compared to before, now understand much better the way power levels rise due to time and investment. They couldn't know at the start, the data didn't exists. Now they probably tune their characters with that in mind. So when judging characters now, we may also need to start thinking a bit more about how… time will influence them.
Just as an example for what I mean, scaling with elemental mastery. How well can we evaluate that when it's one of the rarest drop for artifacts and people used to actively look for it for VV and… that's it? People started farming the dendro artifacts and pieces with elemental mastery mostly along Sumeru's release. That's end of summer this year. How many people got the artifacts they're looking for and were able to test?
How well do we know the Sumeru 4 stars, when there's still more to come yet?
Tighnari and Alhaitham are dendro units, these things are bound to have a biggest influence on them. So they may be the hardest to evaluate right now.
I would agree with you on Dehya being mid except the fact that she’s Pyro. This element is just insane. Either she’ll be our first off field Pyro applicator aside from XL, or she’ll be an on-fielder and vape will probably make her cracked. So either she enables reverse melt or reverse vapes herself. Like honestly, C6 Yanfei puts a lot of other 5star non-pyro dps to shame simply because she can vape a lot.
omg i can’t listen to the dehya prediction anymore. i’ve been so worried abt her kit, bc it rly could revolutionize pyro’s future in a dendro meta. but she’s so popular that i feel like they’re gonna drop the ball. i’m too scared to look for any hints of her kit in case it confirms my fears.
i have saved enough wishes f2p to guarantee her, but just hearing walrus basically confirm my thoughts and fears… especially after being really excited for cyno but ending up skipping him because. well.
praying that dehya turns out well. please plslspssls. i’ll take mid. i’ll take niche. just, better than cyno please 🥺 at least give us that
i truly have to pause the video and do something else bc every sentence is like an arrow through my heart, and not in the lovestruck way 😭
if it was wrong, it wouldn’t hurt, but it really does feel like he’s right ;-;
if she ends up turning out bad… idk if i’ll still pull for her tbh. i might wait for baizhu, and keep the weapon on my triple-crowned xinyan. she can be a luxury pull for later, like how i got yae just recently.
They were shitting on Yae and I didn’t care cuz she’s so much fun to play and i have been very happy with her since the beginning. So i am getting mr six pack bc i wanna. Not because of dmg numbers.
if he relies on his ult to have a good application of dendro and has energy issues, I'm not pulling.
where is the supp supp flappers?
Worse than Nahida at everything. Needs her to reach a somewhat meta potential. Her teams without him are/will be (when more dendro units come out) better, because, as every alhaitham supporter says, it's about the element being strong, not the character. Has a terrible BiS weapon. Way too similar looking E skill and ult as keqing. Am I really the only one who thinks they did him dirty? Yeah, I know all about that "play with whoever you want", but why are these kind of players watching this video? I just wanted him to be the best at something, even if he was niche, to have a playstyle and animations as unique as his model. But meh, I'll just skip, can't really get hyped until the unit comes out and it's already too late to farm gems
Never found him interesting so wether he turns out to be completely mid or good still skipping, never found him interesting plus I got keqing c2 already
This is gonna age like hot milk.
He's definitely going to be stronger than Scaramouche and that's 1000 times better/jk
Personally, as a f2p, I have to be extremely selective on who I pull…unfortunately.
As much as I would like to pull for every character, I can't. So I decided to pull only for units who are fun + strong and Alhaitham doesn't look fun so he's definitely not on my list.
I will get myself C0 Alhaitham and hope he is good, but I suspect that Yaoyao will be more useful.
I have Nahida and I think her E is more important than her Q, because it has an insanely long duration time.
So far none of the other Dendro characters could provide such long Dendro application like her. And I think Alhaitham also cant do that, but maybe Yaoyao can.
I don’t play this game anymore but list of daddys is not mid 😮💨
I think alheitham will be an amazing hyperbloom/burgeon character. Constant dendro application and have a yelan or xingqiu and raiden or fischl I think will make great off field hyperbloom team
Alhaitham has more utility than Keqing becoz he's dendro
I think he will be good and versatile like ayato, works in ton of good comps and decent in many but still Replaceable which is pretty good, also while tighnari is only good in spread alhaithem is said to be good in hyperbloom burgeon too, so basically full dendro ayato
Reminds me of "5* sucrose" situation with Kazuha lmao
Lol A tier is mid?
I honestly stopped caring. It doesn’t really matter if a character is good or not anymore.
I started playing when Yae/Childe had a banner, currently AR 48 and just finished Inazuma archon quest.
I didn’t spend a primo till Raiden and she’s my only 5* (C2R1 Raiden with C6 Sara). Well, I did get Qiqi but she was literally the one roll after I got C2 Raiden which was a blessing cause it put me on guarantee now.
For abyss, I have 3 starred every floor up to 10-3.
Other than that, for some reason, I only built electro characters 😂. Along with my level 80 Raiden, my most invested are level 80 C2 Beidou, 70 C6 Sara, 70 Kuki, 70 XL, 60 C6 Sayu, 60 Fischl, 60 Bennet, and 60 DMC.
Anyways, I’m on 55 guaranteed and I like Alhaitam who would also benefit my built Beidou (the first character I got and fell in love with/invested in) but I already researched the characters I truly want which are Yelan and Yoimiya (idc about anyone else but I’ll be happy to have em).
Alhaitam would be so good for my acc tho since my C2R1 Raiden + C6 Sara can demolish any floor but my 2nd team is lagging now that it’s getting a bit tougher. Don’t plan on getting Nahida cause I don’t like her baby voice.
Anyways, would I be able to get both Alhaitam + Yelan as a 2-3 month new player? Haven’t touched sumeru since I have a boat load of world quests in Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma that I haven’t touched. Was also thinking about C1 Yelan + her weapon.
My logic is simple: Tagnari is a pretty decent character and the best from the standard banner. Al Aitham a limited character. You do the math.
At this point I have 300+ wishes because I was like:
Damn, this character is mid, I'm gonna wait until something interesting comes out
But now I guess it never gonna happen
ONE piece? one piece is REALLLL
The unit's top of Tier List are the best units to help build teams which means all MAIN DPS's fall below them. And Nahida is in that top tier for a reason. 😉
Nilou is funny in that she dose have 100% F2P team with Barbara, Collei, and Dendro MC. But with like every native Sumeru character she wants Nahida as well.
Tighnari was 'TRASH' without Nahia and a spread team which does SOOOOO much more damage on that team only…. He's no the strongest standard banner unit and only NEEDS any star weapon to be so. But I have hope that Alhaitham will be a little more flexible. He will be Dendro meta. The leaks I won't say the numbers but unlike other units Alhaitham NEEDED to be nurfed he was WAY to OP when the first tested in Beta because this is the first Dendro Main DPS that was built for wishing on (aka not a standard banner pity popper) and haven't fine-tuned yet the ceiling for Dendro. What he dose best at we will have to see, but UNLIKE Yae Miko he got options already for team builds while Miko was released with basically nothing to help her on team builds…..
I think MiHoYo learned with Miko that you can release a 5tar without ANY options for multiple patches…. But I wouldn't be surprised we get a Fontaine unit in the late 3.+ patches that needs the Hydro Archon. They gave us Kuki just before Sumeru the way they gave us Kazuha going into Inazuma.
Also Dendro units don't need their BiS signature weapons to be good/godly. Nahida and Tighnari have proved it with their Dendro scaling. I suspect any 5- star weapon will be good on Alhaitham. 😉
No the LAST question your should ask is this a Tartaglia VS Ayato debate. Tighnari in his BEST team (Spread) on par with Alhaitham in his different teams. I get the feeling Alhaitham is going to be more Ayato instead of another Yae Miko/Cyno that NEEDS their BiS weapon and artifact set and a small team pool.
I'm actually more scared/Intrigued by what the heck Kaveh going to do in the future…. if he's a Dendro Shenhe/Dendro supporter watch out!
Mid is good. A balanced character like Ayato. Not the best, nor the worst.
I guess I’m a pretty casual player. I can’t be the only one that plays for fun and pulls on characters just purely because I like them right? Idc if he’s meta defining or mid whatever I just like his character design and his play style is right up my alley so I’m gona get him. I have decent supports built so I’m sure he’ll fit in somewhere. Unsure of his synergy with ayato and thoma but nothings gona stop me from making my burgeon husbando team idgaf I will make it work😤
BLAH BLAH BLAH MID CHARACTER WHO CARES THERE'S NO END GAME? If you've been playing genshin for 3-4 months and get some meta units even 4 stars builded you can 36 abyss and that's it
Yelan was the last character that is powerful, with fun play mechanics AND is also a waifu. Don't miss her banner.
He will be #3 A tier behind childe and scara
who is top bot and jungle?
