I was so excited when i finished wanders story. I was thinking cool we can play as a x fatui but no…like a giant middle finger to everyone you can only get him in the banner…talk about hurt🤬
at the start wanderer is one of the main villains after you 'save' him you found out about his backstory and his multiple losses and betreals and you understand why he is acting this way.
I 100% recommend you watch the character trailers for Honkai Star Rail! The updates have been awesome and the newest character HuoHuo is adorable! I like the spirit living in her tail he's funny lol.
Can't wait for the day you start doing this type of stuff but with honkai impact charater previews!

To answer your question about how long it takes to get passives
not too long if you get the materials you need to ascend each character
it depends on the character on whether it’ll be easy to get thier items or not and it depends on whether you not you can find thier nation-exclusive materials (nation exclusive as in they’re only found in that part of the world) each ascensions also requires a specific material thats dropped from bosses. Also, some characters like characters in Inazuma’s materials are story locked. because you have to go through the story in order to reach inazuma since its very far out in the ocean.
I'm a huge lover of Wanderer and Alhaitham. You're right in assuming that some things went wrong in the nurture category to lead to his current personality. He can be a very divisive character in the community. That said, he's definitely stronger than Faruzan.
You have made it to my favorite and strongest character that I have! Alhaitham has carried me through pretty much anything and the projection swords are really cool looking too. The game pretty much became super easy with how OP you can make him.

Wanderer is in fact not a human but a puppet created by a god. Scaramouche, also known as Kunikuzushi "Country Destroyer") or by his Fatui codename "Balladeer." Scaramouche was created as a concept to test Raiden Ei's plans for an indestructible Gnosis-bearing puppet. With his creation accomplished, Ei decided to leave him in a slumbering state, free from her control, as he had cried upon his creation. After awakening, Scaramouche came to believe that she had deemed him a failure and abandoned him. Following two other "betrayals," he started to hate both gods and humanity, taking on the name "Kunikuzushi" while wandering Inazuma and joining the Fatui as The Sixth Fatui Harbinger, The Balladeer. This fight takes place after he cut contact with the Fatui and tried to become a god using Ei's Gnosis and the help of the Akademiya. After we defeated him he erases his Fatui ties from Irminsul, the Wanderer is shown to be amiable and yet living an unsatisfactory life as he lacked a human heart and name. The lack of a human heart caused him to long for a purpose he lacked and thus willingly accepted his memories back to reclaim his sins to be himself once more leaveing the dark past behind.
The Wanderer is more or less Raiden’s Son and has been around for a very long time. In the story of the game, he starts off as a villain and then ends up becoming an ally with the main character (although not really friends with them)
