  1. Jean is basically the "mom" of the Knights of Favonius. In fact, all the Monstadt characters are basically one big, happy, dysfunctional family. Between Jean and Lisa being a married couple (not explicit, but their interactions certainly show them acting like one), Kaeya and Diluc passive-aggressively dissing each other, and literally everyone watching over Klee like she's their child, there's no shortage of fun interactions, which is why I love the events so much because we get to see these characters just hanging out with each other.

  2. Qiqi was an herb gatherer in Lyiue, and stumbled on a mountain where the Adepti trained. A landslide happened and Qiqi died as a result. The Adepti took pity on the child and used their power to bring her back to life as a zombie at the expense of loosing her memory and also be affected with memory loss, which is why she carries a notebook to write down important things so that she doesn’t forget. It’s a really sad and tragic story, and it’s even more sad when you realize that she doesn’t even remember anything herself. What happened to her, how she lived, her family, she doesn’t remember any of it. 😢

  3. If you're wondering strength wise Mona>Jean>Qiqi is probably correct atm. All of them don't see a ton of use, Mona is Bis in some freeze teams, mainly in aoe with Ganyu and Venti. Jean is a fine Anemo option if you need a healer, but usually, you'd prefer a more offensive anemo option since you're often using them to buff your damage so you'd prefer someone like Sucrose or Kazuha, who buffs your damage more. Qiqi as a healer is also lackluster, if you need healing in a hyper-bloom core or in freeze she's useable, but there are other characters that provide enough healing while contributing more offensively.

  4. We're gonna be cooking with the Genshin content for awhile and I'm okay with it.

At the start of the game when they had no clue just how massive of a success it would be, they only made these types of videos for the 5 * rarity characters. As time has gone on however (staring around version 1.4 which was April 2021~) they've also done them for the 4 * rarity characters that are added to the game. That's led to there being exactly 50 Collected Miscellany as of making this comment, all of which are very engaging from both a gameplay and lore standpoint. Despite that they still only scratch the surface on the lore. There's so much story tied to every little thing in the world of Genshin, and especially the playable characters. Some of the very minor side characters that have never even really had a prominent role in the main story (rip Chongyun) feel more fleshed out then a lot of main characters in similar types of media.

  5. I LOVE QIQI!

She usually gets hated on by the Community since in the "Gacha/ Luck System" she often appears instead of the Limited Character the people are spending their ingame Money on. 😢

But her Story ist so interesting, she is my favourite Healer and her Design ist adorable, so pls give her lots of Love!!

  6. Mona and Qiqi aren't fighters in lore so Jean really would be the strongest of the three

Mona's concept is very interesting since she doesn't read the stars, she reads their reflection in the water, the stars are a very important thing in the game's lore, it is said that they dictate everyone's destiny, that is, the stars already know the destiny of everyone from birth to death and most important and intriguing is the forbidden knowledge that sky's are actually fake

  7. Zombie in this game is just a general term for Undead or an Individual who has been resurrected from the dead, that's why Qiqi has a Talisman on her head. Qiqi doesn't eat Brains, her favorite thing to drink is actually coconut milk.

Is Bethany talking about Diablo 3? I think remember a while ago, maybe on a stream, you said you played it together? I just started playing it a day or two ago. I've been meaning to ask which characters you both played as, so that's really good timing!

I played it for a day, and then went back to Diablo 2 last night, opened an AngryJoe stream earlier, and they happened to be playing Diablo 2 lol

Do you think you'll be playing Diablo 4? I didn't think it would have couch co-op for some reason, but it appears it will.
It's crazy to think it's been almost 2 years since you reacted to the Lilith cinematic and from what I've seen recently the cutscenes are brutal. I look forward to you guys playing/reacting to it! I'm gonna go watch those reactions again.

Also Mona is really cool and fun to play as, her and Xiangling were my favorites. A fun thing in Genshin is all the recipes and each character has their own unique signature version of one of them!

Congratulations on 200k! You deserve that and more

  9. Playing Final Fantasy 14, I always start as a Dps class. But I played as Schollar (kinda like a fairy summoner healer class) And DAMMM did I have fun?
Its my favorite class for sure.

    Now genshin.
I like Mona, and she's awesome support. 😂😂❤

  10. Qiqi is also known as a Chinese hopping vampire but are basically the Chinese equivalents to western zombies.
They don't eat brains, but instead suck out the life force of the living closer to vampires drinking blood (but instead of either Qiqi favors coconut milk), and they hop to move around due to stiff muscles from being dead for so long and it's even been noted that Qiqi does regular exercises and stretches to keep her body from stiffening up.

  11. Well the reason Qiqi doesn't look like the typical zombie you're thinking about is actually due to the fact that she's what is called a Jiangshi or hopping vampire. It's a monster from Chinese mythology where it's a type of reanimated corpse that kills living creatures to absorb their qi, or "life force", usually at night, while during the day, it rests in a coffin or hides in dark places such as caves. The style of clothes she wears are the typical clothing Jiangshi wore and the tag in front of her face is a talisman which is essentially to make the corpses move by themselves for easier transportation as well as enable the Jiangshi to be controlled by the priest in doing whatever he orders and without it a Jiangshi will enter a mindless rage. At that point, the only ways to stop it are to destroy its body completely or break the spell binding the spirit to the body. Which is why in one of Qiqi's idle animation shows her holding on to her talisman when the wind blows so she doesn't lose it and go into a mindless rage.

  12. Seen alot of your guy's reactions to games and one thing you'd probably enjoy is the halo 2 anniversary movie, it's a collection of all the cutscenes on Halo 2. I really recommend it 🙂

  13. 3 special gals for me. Jean is my current best healer/support. Qiqi was my first 5 star character I ever got, and Mona was the 5 star I was always hoping to get until I finally did.

  14. The intersting fact from Genshin is that all Characters you can pull have a sad backstory ….

  15. So, when they say Qiqi is a zombie…. she is a Chinese zombie, a jiangshi.. not the western interpretation of a zombie. That's what the talisman on her head represents. I would recommend googling Jiangshi to get a better understanding of her… I don't know much and am bad at explaining things normally.

  16. i always got excited when these miscellany videos would drop little tid bits about different characters backstories. but these videos are so old at this point that there has been so much more written about each character that isnt mentioned in these videos that would give you more of an understanding of who they are.
i wish that genshin impact had the equivalent of the Overwatch origin stories for each character! that would be so cool to see.

  17. Hard to judge strength here: Qiqi is unlikely to be found alone in a very dangerous place (she avoids going where she doesn't have personal maps due to her memory issues), Mona's well equipped to both detect and avoid a confrontation and often inclined to, and Jean ought to normally be in a place of power where she can focus on command and support. Jean is the actual soldier and the one most likely to look for trouble, so there's that.

    * Don't have Qiqi; would be developing her if I had her since while you can get to where you almost never really need a healer, for those remaining times you do there is simply no such thing as being overspecialized at healing and light sword's my best weapon type anyway. I don't think she's a bad character, but I haven't yet found any practical way to either spend money or devote a period of time playing toward getting her… and definitely get her. So I also have no plans to get her; it'll happen eventually on its own and there's no guessing when. Note: Qiqi is a jiangshi, a Chinese species of undead more like a vampire – but as she isn't draining life energy and is technically functioning more like a trapped ghost with her corpse ritually enslaved to follow her orders "zombie" seems a good descriptor.

    * Do have Mona despite her being in about the same situation as Qiqi: in fact, I got her while trying for Hu Tao… and in a prank worthy of the latter I got both, but in a way so as to make it seem until the last possible instant like Mona would be my only reward. Despite not actually needing her in my current teams she's right behind Barbara (who has no trailer, so don't feel bad about not recognizing the name, though she did briefly appear in this video) on my long list of "good enough to survive the world in a team but could use polishing when I have time and energy". There are three people I want with me when the nation of Fontaine becomes available to enter: of those it's pretty clear by now I will not have Kokomi, I have spent two months off and on making sure Yanfei can not just survive but compete, and Mona was my third pick. I expect to be crossing a lot of water and don't enjoy turning it to ice first… and I do enjoy the idea of at least turning Mona's self-exile in Monstadt into a personal choice. (Her master in Fontaine sent her, underneath all the "prophesied meetings" and "clash of principles" and the like, to retrieve a personal item and not look at it. The personal item turned out to be a diary, which circumstances (mostly meaning Klee) caused Mona to read in full before realizing it was the item she was after. And Mona learned her trick of always recognizing lies and deception from her master, so is rather unwilling to go back to face her and report.)

    * Do have Jean; this was unintentional yet slightly easier in theory than Qiqi. The only reason I am not presently using her is that for practical reasons (my budget sucks) I happen to be maining Anemo-aligned Lumine (the female – and arguably closer to ambidextrous; appearing left-handed at the critical instant was why I picked her – main character) equipped with a sword that provides self-healing. So for solo play purposes I have by default a somewhat more aggressive version of Jean's skillset and am content. It's not that I don't like Jean; it's that I've been shoved into Adventurer Rank 56 of 60, which basically means the entire world has almost all its training wheels taken off and I need to actually focus on methodically building characters one at a time, first to be able to do more than walk around without dying, then to be able to contribute towards team survival, then to be able to theoretically fight solo (important as I don't like deliberately engineering synergy between teammates and my end goal is to be able to use anybody with anybody). This also means building a flowchart of dependencies: who I need first to more conveniently be able to work on somebody else. Jean's simply a good ways down on a very long "to-do" list that I don't often feel up to pulling out and working on.

  18. According to the lore, Mona actually works for Steambird, a newspaper company that is owned by The Court of Fontaine and it’s widespread all across Teyvat. She took the job of an Astrology Columnist and her writing was known to be more academic and complex than the Columnist before her.

And despite this job can be pay you really well, she still suffers from spending problems. It was revealed in “Summertime Odyssey” event during the summer of 2022, that Mona spends her Mora on many astrology books and gear.

I heard that there can be some connection between Mona and Focalors, the Hydro Archon. That’s because since the Court is under Focalor’s commands, and because of it owns the Steambird. But that’s just a theory!
