Also arlecchino's best friend is also the biological daughter of the Mother who is also the former knave and the other children were orphans in which she like to find the perfect soldier by letting them kill each other to be the one true great king even her daughter is even not an exception.It's also the reason why she uses "Father" instead of Mother because of how she despised the Mother.After she became the head of house of the hearth and became the Father all orphans are being taking good care by Arlecchino that's why they are very loyal to her and I think Arlecchino's motives are in the good way because she just wants her children(orphans) to have a good life.

"Looks like a battle royale for children" You said this jokingly but it seems like the most plausible explanation as to why she killed her friend and then also battled her 'mother'. You didn't talk over that line so I'm confused why you questioned it so much

Honestly, you and a significant amount of CCs I've seen either glossed over or completely missed the beginning part where it literally said (albeit in story form) what happens to the children in the orphanage (you even joked about it).
Also, could be lore significant in the future… but Scaramouche in this vid is actually an anomaly considering he's supposed to have erased himself in Irminsul which should have left NO TRACES of him in Teyvat as being Scaramouche.
Context:
The House of Hearth of that time was a breeding ground for assassins for Shnezhnaya, kinda like a Genshin version of the Red Room from Marvel. That fairytale Mother was telling them was their actual destiny. What you said at the beginning was accurate: they were being instructed in what their future would have been, and indeed Arlecchino was the last standing of the orphans, who killed each other to nominate the "King" aka the best assassin in that batch.
Another interesting thing: When Mother (the head of the House of Hearth, she uses hydro btw) was tending to that lumidoce bell, before the fight started, she was talking about her daughter: the kid who became Peruere's best friend, Clervie, had a lumidoce bell shaped pendant in that early scene when she brought cake. That kid is Mother's biological daughter, and Mother sent her to her death. By talking about pruning the flower before it withered, she's expressing disappointment at the fact her daughter was killed by Peruere (she didn't get the title Arlecchino yet). Not a shred of regret, of sorrow, of mourning, instead she thinks she should've killed her own daughter because she sees her death as a disgrace. So that coldhearted b***h sent her own daughter to be killed by her best friend and doesn't feel anything about it.
I think that is why Arlecchino chose to be called "father" by her kids: not much because she's the King (she refused that title, it's clear from the ending when she said "my answer is no"), but to mark a difference in management from Mother's methods regarding the House of Hearts: unlike Mother, she deeply cares about her kids.
Btw, Peruere went full Ultra Instinct in that fight, that was precious.
I do think they'll make her turn against us, I mean she's a fatui harbinger, we're bound to fight her, but I can't wait how they will pull it off since she's been the less hostile to us so far.

3:49 Im pretty sure she offed herself rather than fight Arle. The shot right before is kind of a common way to depict that in anime and manga without fully showing it, and we dont see her hands so she is likely holding the sword hilt.
The "Mother's" name is Crucabena a Gallic equivalent of the Welsh enchantress Ceridwen. And she was a harbringer.
Clervie (pink hair) could be Crucabena's biological child.
Oh also if you didnt catch it we now know that Peruere is Arle's real name.
It says in the VERY beginning that yes, a battle royale death game is EXACTLY what used to happen to the children at the orphanage under the prior Knave’s management.

If you haven't noticed, Clervie is Crucabena's('mother) biological daughter, hence their same hair color and why Arlecchino asked at 2:51 "do mothers usually argue with their daughter?" the EN translate is wrong on this one cause in CN and JP it translates to "do real mothers" it hints at Clervie possibly being abused.
Clervie is also symbolized as lumidouce bell. In both part 4:44 where the mother said she should've pruned the flowers long ago, not waited till it wilts. She's saying that she should've gotten rid of Clervie cause she's weak("Innocent and kindness are such beautiful qualities, sadly they're also useless") hinting at Clervie too.
The second, where Arlecchino glances at the lumidouce flowers 6:24 and let out a small smile as if she has gotten the strength to continue fighting, she's probably reminded of Clervie as she owns a necklace with that same flower!
These small details crushed my heart the many times I rewatched this animation so I wanted to point it out, let's all get hurt tgt! 😀

The shots of scenery following pinky-hair's death pretty much shows the aftermath of the battle royale. The sword with the bullefruit hanging off of it alludes to blondie who likely perished as well. The scene where Babychino asks pinky "do mothers argue with their daughters?" hints that pinky might have been the previous Knave's actual daughter.

Clervie killed herself because Arlecchino wouldn't do it. You can see that when she drops dead she has a different sword stuck in her and Arlecchino is holding her sword.

"Mother" or Crucabena is the previous "Knave" and manager of the House of the Hearth. At the beginning, she told a deceitful story where the children will fight against each other and earn the title of "King" and even then, the plushie that represented Arlecchino (Peruere) was on top.
Clervie was believed to be Crucabena's biological daughter. She was Peruere's childhood friend. Despite that, she still pit her against all other kids of the House of the Hearth. It is also hinted that Crucabena actually favored Peruere the most and wanted Clervie killed even from the beginning. She had a Lumidouce necklace and when Crucabena was holding the same flower, she says this
"I should've pruned this flower long ago and not waited till' it wilts. How grotesque."
Clervie pushed herself against Peruere's sword since Peruere hesitated. This makes a lot of sense because of her dialogues
"You will be… A great king."
"I'm sorry… Thank you…"
Pierro is the harbinger speaking. Capitano is the harbinger next to Signora, with the helmet 🙂
We don't know why Peruere killed Clervie. It seems really stupid to kill her and then go kill the mother in retribution. The common assumption right now is that they were having a mock fight, but Clervie threw herself on Peruere's sword to just bring an end to all the fighting. We don't know what the "king" position means either, so maybe it's something important enough that Clervie felt the need to kill herself.

Yeah they were basically raised and fooled into finding friends and family just to kill each other because of the "mother" former knaves cruel form of entertainment, and her biological daughter didnt want to kill arleccino so she was happy when she died but also sorry she couldnt continue the journey with her friend and keep all the promises. And the mother didnt even care for her every child was just a flower to be cut down at the right time, thats why arleccino changed it she didnt lie…nor hid she ever the truth about the battle royal to her children thats why she chose to be a unfeeling strict father…to give them the best possible chances in surviving what ever comes their way, also her curse was under control didnt progress one bit in all the time she was with her friend till the moment she had to kill her
