  1. If he is only reruning once a year definitely going to pick him up now. Other characters will have chances to rerun more often but apart from Kazuha, Xiao is the one ive been wanting the most. Luckely I will have enough pulls

  2. Homie to be that guy, (yes I took from wiki)

The Xiao Lantern (Chinese: 霄灯 Xiāodēng), while using the same name as the English name for Xiao (Chinese: 魈 Xiāo), is actually based on 霄 xiāo, which can mean "sky."

  3. The good thing is that you know when. With other characters u can only predict but you can really prepare for xiao and eventually f2p’s can probably get c6 xiao if they wanted to. I am hoping he gets a specialized artifact set tho. Or other characters and things to make anemo dps more viable

  4. I was saving over 5 months now and I was going to pull for C6 xiao but he just doesn’t fit currently in the game. I have 783 rolls currently.
He is already on C1 with staff of homeless with 91/243 crit rate/ crit dmg and I am already happy with my dmg.
Doing around 80k a plunge with Bennett and Zhongli.

So I think I might go for C2 Baal and C2 kaz instead

  5. the xiao in xiao lanterns actually uses a different chinese character (霄, or “sky”). however, they’re pronounced the same so it’s wordplay. the xiao lanterns aren’t named after xiao in-game but mihoyo just used some wordplay to make them seem more connected to him.

  6. I think he'll show up more now along with other early characters. To many new characters will have come out after another year. He'd be considered old and at that point better characters will have came out

  7. others have already pointed out some of the inconsistencies in the lore itself, but the other thing is that Xiao (魈) his name and xiao (霄) lanterns both use different kanji (edit to add, i'm bringing it up because the lanterns aren't actually named after him/the event isn't for him specifically; they are just pronounced the same way). I did think he'd come back (timewise since he's one of the oldest characters without a rerun by now) during this time but i also think he might get one whenever the give the next part of his story quest, similar to Zhongli, or whenever he might play a key role in an event quest, like Albedo/Eula or Childe. they mentioned that reruns will start to follow this pattern and apart from making sense thematically, it fit because again, he was one of the oldest characters with no rerun. Technically this would also mean Ganyu would only be having reruns during Lantern Rite too, since she is a half adeptus and also fought alongside Rex Lapis/Xiao/the others in the past. Venti could only be rerun during Windbloom Festival or Ludi Harpastum (whenever we actually get that event for real, etc.

  8. My problem with pulling for 5 stars is not the initial pull, but the pulls after when you're just pulling for constellations. That next constellation had better be damn good to risk all those primo gems.

At C0, my Xiao feels decent. I don't think getting a constellation outweighs me getting a whole new character.

  9. No offense Valk, but I have yet to see a youtube whale who knows their lore and you're no exception because yikes. As a lore nerd, that explanation and a couple of comments here were bad.

But yeah, I do wonder if they're really keeping some characters seasonal like Albedo on December, Xiao on lunar new year, Venti on Mondstadt festivals, etc. Before the double banners I would've agreed with you because it looked pretty likely. Well, we'll see next year if we're right, or if the rerun rotation goes so quickly that they actually return before time

  10. If you go to xiao's story tab in-game, Xiao was tasked with the job to fight demons every year during the lantern rite, so although the festival became a time for joy and celebration, for xiao, it ended up being a time he hated because of everything he went through because of it.
