  1. Probably won't but we should atleast give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they'll do something since this was the biggest backlash yet.
    So there's still some leftover hopium in the canisters.

  2. I have already moved on from anniversary. Though grateful for what we have received, I feel like they have just made a last minute band aid solution, which is literally tells us that they don't really care at all. I would appreciate an official statement about the issue instead of those 4 day rewards. I hope they do address those issues and don't just let it die down and do it again in the future. Glad that Valk did this video.

  3. I think they are going to improve.
    We could tell there was some sort of disconnect in the company between the developers, the executives, and the players. I am glad to hear they hired a new PR person and hope that it is enough but we will have to wait and see if that makes a difference.

  4. Until we see proof otherwise, I won't bank on them changing their ways. This was a rude awakening and all, but they still managed to get back to sleep despite all the clamor.

  5. For people who don't want to read much, there's a TL;DR at the bottom…

    Honestly, as someone who has played Honkai way before Genshin, here's my take: I believe they will improve, specially considering they have a new PR in place as of this whole backlash. But it would be unrealistic to expect a sudden improvement. This will take it's time. The question is how long are people willing to wait.

    Something people often forget or aren't even aware is that when Honkai first started (not global, I mean IN GENERAL) it had a VERY rocky road, and I have heard it may have been rougher than this. It withstood thanks to players who actually had the patience to stick around and fund it with their purchases.

    Now… I will adress the elephant in the room: This whole drama happened because of two reasons.
    1) Mihoyo didn't really communicated that well and even made some very questionable decisions. I would believe however this was due to the person that was recentely fired so we can hope they learned not to do what he/she did.

    2) The community had VERY unrealistic expectations on what we may receive and used the 5th anniversary from Honkai as a guideline when they should have looked earlier. Though now I suspect they took a cold bathtub full of water with ice cubes of reality itself to their very face.

    It's important for there to be communication and I believe we may see it in the future but who knows. But it's equally important to never be clowded by expectations and to always keep your feet on the ground. Not many games are generous in the start… and lets be honest the League Commentators only really know of this probably thanks to the riot… as of this moment Genshin's entire community is ill seen and even communities within it (CN, JP) don't really like what the ENG Community did.

    As for what Genshin has vs what Honkai has… keep in mind that some of the endgame content that Honkai has was NOT there for a VERY long time, hell some are even made available as important story related moments are brought into the game (EG, the Key of Corruption Raid being tied to the first Open World, Elysium realm being connected to the main story in Honkai SEVERAL chapters later on and etc)… so if this is a sign of anything, it's that endgame content will be made more available as significant story arc moments occour… so we literally need to wait until we reach sucha moment… and I suspect it will be connected to Celestia and Khaenri'ah if anything else will be added.

    As for the anniversary rewards comparecence… here's something many Genshin players don't know about the free 100 fragment (Honkai impact's 5* version) character we got: it is one of the OLDEST characters in game, it is also one of the characters many people requested a buff. It is also a character that has HEAVY story implications AND relevance since the very beginning of the game (more around chapter 2 moving forward) and later on a new skin was made available to her and finally: people could chose to get her OR any other character but not a 100 fragment one.
    In short, if we were to receive a free 5*… it would have to be a character that either has really high popularity after a long period of time or has strong story connections or both. But keep in mind that in Honkai in other anniversaries (about after the first) there were characters made available for frre that were equivalents of 4* and were relatively brand new battlesuits to boot. So if anythign maybe around the second or third anniversary there will be possibly a new 4* for free or maybe it will be another choice for everyone.

    – TL;DR –
    I suspect, as a Honkai Player and a Genshin Player, they will learn from this and grow from it now that someone else is in charge of PR;

    They need better communication with the community but the community also needs to temper their expectations realistically;

    Honkai impact went through similar problems and their endgame content was released as it was made relevant to a few story points so expect that for Genshin;

    On terms of anniversary rewards, we should expect them to be closer to Honkai in how they did it, which means if they stay true to it they'll probably have free 4* stars or a free 5* that has high popularity or something like that in later anniversaries.

  6. I'll keep it short and simple: Mihoyo loves the Hl franchise, GI is just cash grab. They used the profits from GI to expand their ambitious HI franchise into two more games. If a year of radio silence has told me anything about them it is this.

  7. Wish I could say something different, but Mihoyo kept their head down and mostly just plowed through the complaints. We won't know for a year, should the game survive that long, if they learned to listen to their community.

    Perhaps more ppl going F2P might teach them a lesson?

  9. I'm on the fence. I figure I'm gonna wait it out til next Lantern Rite, since dev cycles are so long it'll be easily at least 3-4 months before we actually see any evidence at all in the actual game of Mihoyo making changes that people are asking for, IF they even plan on doing them. Then if nothing's fundamentally changed by next Lantern Rite, I'll peace. I figure that's a long enough period in which to give Mihoyo some time to see if they change their ways. I'm not hopeful about it, but I'm trying to not be cynical either. I think it's fair to give them an opportunity to see how they actually react from here and a reasonable enough period in which to do it, and if they don't take that opportunity, then I'll feel well-justified in leaving.

  10. Hey Valk, can you make a poll about who got the welkin from the webevent? With options like:
    (1) F2P who got welkin
    (2) Spenders who got welkin
    (3) F2P who got 100k mora
    (4) Spenders who got 100k mora

    I just want to know if they did this fairly.

  11. If Mihoyo starts caring about the Genshin Impact player base as much as they care about the Honkai Impact player base then every body will satisfied tbh. The sheer difference in how much the Honkai community loves Mihoyo and how much the Genshin community now hates Mihoyo is literally sad. The amount of wasted potential in this game and it's management fucking hurts.
