My only issues with her are that since I don't know her character well, I don't care about playing her, and also I hate playing bow characters
I really hate her design in Genshin for some reason
I don't mind collab units at all, character wise she's perfectly fine imo, cool looking character, unique vision design, lots of thought and effort put into her. The issue is that she's just.. trash, she does no damage, you're better off using someone like Keaya in her place in almost every single scenario, WHO YOU GET FOR FREE WHEN YOU START PLAYING. Characters like the traveler do have their own niche, anemo traveler is nice for vv shred (Not everyone has sucrose, though most do), and she can be useful in certain abyss floors, geo traveler does a decent amount of damage and has buffs, viable alternative for someone like albedo in a xiao jean albedo zhongli comp (or for quad geo), etc.. Lisa is useful in raiden comps (def shred, ttds lisa is almost on part with non c6 sara there), amber is best in slot for hutao comps and useful in certain oneshot teams. Kaeya is a amazing cryo dps (A lot of people sleep on him, he's just insanely good, try kaeya rosaria xiangling bennett if you don't think he's good, I'm sure this will change your mind.).
My point is, almost all free characters have a use, but aloy is literally powercrept by kaeya who everyone gets when they starts playing. Her kit actively works against her (Bombs having cooldown for rushing ice), making her useless unless you're a huge Horizon fan.
When I got Aloy, I was already in AR 40 ish and have 2 established teams. Raising another character is a waste of resources. Also I don't play Horizon Zero Dawn so I don't have the emotional connection to Aloy. Why waste resources to raise a character that I don't like?

Why do people dislike Aloy? They probably played HZD haha. I spent 500+ on HZD and Aloy has this annoying personality.
I'd honestly rather have a small pet version of the "Watcher" from HZD just like the small coloured seelies or the talking paper dude rather than Aloy.
This is why I use Aloy as a sub dps. In my main team – Rosaria does all the damage, aloy is just there for those specters and ruin guards (and now those wolves), Kazuha does the swirls + gathers the cryo bombs to a group of targets. Sometimes aloy in my team does the final shot but she's mostly there for aerial targets and cryo buffs

I guess you kinda forget that non-ps4/5 players can’t get her bow which kinda buffs her a bit
I'm a Horizon fan and I approve of the game's story and character development. But adding Alloy in Genshin was a mistake, not only because of her near worthless presence in a fight or team composition but also because she breaks the game's immersion (literally).
I voiced why I disapproved of her showing up in the game and all I got were a few hundred people saying that I shouldn't talk since she's a free 5 star. Funny how I had the last laugh a few days after her official release.
In my opinion, a collaboration between titles needs the included characters to have a "purpose". Look at Epic7 and their collaborations with Guilty Gear among others. You get Sol Badguy for free who is an ok-ish PvP unit and has one-shot potential in Golem Hunt (you can one-shot a boss with a free unit where in other games you barely see that) and you also got gacha units that were really strong for PvP. Aloy is there for decorum and nothing else.
I don't mean to beat down on a character from a game that I like. But her presence in Genshin doesn't make sense and she's hardly useful. Maybe if her aspect was tweaked and was a reference to Horizon, while being at the very least useful like a maxed-out 4-star character, then I think a lot more people would have used her.

The problem with the whole "she's bad cause she's free" is that Mihoyo's other big game, Honkai Impact, did a crossover with Evangelion and gave Asuka for free and she was, and still is, incredibly good.
i'd love a genshin impact x reincarnated as slime. Rimuru being a dendro sword user.
Mihoyo should release story quest for obtaining Aloy, not just giving player for free. I believe Mihoyo can come up with plot where Aloy can become part of Genshin Universe.
The problem with Aloy is
1. "Exclusivity", her signature weapon is locked by what type of device you're playing her with. You need playstation account and play on playstation so her weapon effect can be used.
2. She is clunky to be used. Her elemental skill and Burst Skill doesn't complement each other. It's hard enough to get 4 stacks of Coil Stacks. It's too unpredictable and that's make her not viable for meta team.

I think its because her kit is uninteresting and feels weak starting out. If they had at least given her a perk like climbing faster without loosing stamina, I would have used her for world exploration.
I think Mihoyo burned their bridges in terms of collabs with Aloy. Why would game companies dare to collab with Genshin again when they made Aloy such a bad character? She's so bad that people still think Amber or Qiqi are the worst character in the game only because they forgot that Aloy exists in the first place.

The same people: OMG Mihoyo should collab with X, Y and Z!!! And give us KFC wings when chickens don’t even exist in Teyvet! And there is no such place called Kentucky in this world!
The Genshin fan base is a sh*thole idc what anyone else says. A lot of the complaints this community makes are so stupid.
Kinda hoping that future crossover characters aren't shafted the same way. Would love to see a Honkai (inverse of Fischl being added to HI3) or Devil May Cry crossover to happen in Genshin in the future.
I feel like they should have tried harder to incorporate weapons from hzd into her kit. They truly went the laziest most boring route possible.

This is kind of random and off topic but I think it would be cool if Genshin did some sort of Naruto Collab or something, they're already pretty similar in the element/Chakara nature area, Fire = Pyro, Wind = Anemo, Lightning = Electro, Earth = Geo, and Water = Hydro. I just personally think it would be cool ✋🏻😭🤚🏻
