With Dendro finally being a full fledged playable element following the release of Sumeru, I thought about remaking an old video ranking each element in Genshin Impact from weakest to strongest (conceptually anyway). Shoutouts to the Keqing Mains! Specifically: Zajef77, Ayzel, Reens and Artesians for helping me format this! 😀 You can check out their website to learn more about characters and whatnot! https://keqingmains.com/

I still think hydro would be better than anemo if vv set didn't exist, without hydro in the team u lost freeze, vaporize, bloom with it's 2 variant, and even electrocharge for tazer teams, this element by its own is basically why the elemental reaction system is that important, anemo's grouping is very good but i still don't think it's as necessary as hydro
Venti might be the weakest archon but I wouldn’t be able to achieve QOL and enjoy world exploration without him. He is the most useful unit I ever had and I will always cherish him as my first 5*. Zhongli and Venti are both staple to my world exploration team comp.
I personally disagree about pyro's ranking. If we're talking about reactions alone, electro has electrocharged vs pyro's vaporise. I think vaporise is just much better than electrocharged most of the time. Overloaded is shared so let's ignore that. melt vs superconduct. Both are very niche because melt is very hard to trigger by Pyro characters and physical damage is not that good. Well quicken is better than burning hyperbloom is better than burgeon. Now if we're talking about units,Pyro just takes it, quite easily to be fair. Electro's best unit,Shogun is in my opinion worser than Bennett, who is arguably the best character in the game. Now for other good characters from each element. Pyro has xiangling,hu tao and yoimiya. Electro has yae, beidou and fischl(and kujou sara i suppose). The Bennett xiangling combo just carries Pyro to be fair. And for resonance, I don't think I need to explain why pyro's is just much much better.
Besides cryo should be near pyro as both are big dps elements.
Even as a Cryo main I can't deny Hydro seems like the strongest element simply because it reacts so good with every other element except Geo of course.
Ehh. Anemo is #1, Hydro #2, and then rest is all #3 with Geo in last place as an exception.
6:41 nice Infinity War reference
At first I was like “nah” but actually this makes sense
People aren't gonna believe me now but dendro and hydro are most certainly the strongest element in the game if we ignore all the characters
Hyperbloom and burgeon has by far the highest dmg max potential of over 200k dps or in a classic rotation, 4 million dmg
literally nothing else comes close
not giving geo a dendro reaction was such a blow to my confidence in the current balance. I'm biased cause I love itto but I just was so excited for geo to get SOMETHING new.
We don't even have a new char in sight either. My cope is hoping we get some sand Geo char that gets a bit of grouping since Geo doesn't play with anemo and grouping can feel so important in abyss. That being said I truly don't see them doing anything to move away from their current design which is either sheilds or Def stacking :/
Anemo is my pet peeve element. Because it's like you said; they are second to none in crowd control. They also have two powerful healers with Jean and Sayu. What's my problem then? The healers can't crowd control, AND vice versa! (No, Jean's sword doesn't count! It's not comparable to Venti, Kazuha or Sucrose)
There are so many teams I want to use, but then I realize I don't have CC or survivability, and it's always the anemo character who's the flex spot! One anemo CC/Healer would just be nice.
Dude….
I like your videos and your points overview about the game but… You don't need to push down even more Geo element.
Seriously now, maybe Geo may have some more love in the future, maybe new Geo characters utilize crystallize in other way geo characters right can not do. I will still believe in Geo will be more relevant in future.
"Geo is just physical damage but piss coloured" -Zajef
I think Hydro wins over Anemo for me, but other than that I agree with the list!
Thumbnail: what’s the strongest element
Me: ofc hydro, bc that shit makes or brakes comps
Vars: Lemme succ hard my boi Kazuha one more time
Im sorry but why throw so much shade to barbara 😭😭😭 She was the only hydro unit not included. She does amazing healing, acts as your kokomi with the ocean hued clam set, revives fallen character and is free!!
You gonna make a follow-up to the "WNOP: Keqing" vid now that she's a top pick for aggravate teams?
For me it would be:
1. Hydro
2. Anemo
3. Electro
4. Pyro
5. Dendro
6. Cryo
7. Geo
Heres my updated teirlist: Also keep in mind that there arent any good denro units out currently so its harder to proc reactions. Also this isnt based off of how good the characters are, but hoow good the reactions are. Anemo, Hydro, Cryo, Electro, dendro, pyro, geo. And it used to be; Anemo, hydro, cryo, electro, pyro, geo. So not much has changed imo but dendro might go up when dendro xq comes out
Pyro being designed around vape and melt ruined it. Probably won't see another meta relevant pyro character until the archon.
The other thing about Pyro is that… it's not even that much damage, and it mostly depends on Vape xD
Now that we have a lot of units to synergize with one another and a deep understanding of reactions, and especially with the new Dendro reactions, Pyro will lead to big dick numbers but as far as dps is concerned is not much better than other elements chaining together for multiple reactions, and on the same note since Pyro dmg kinda relies on Vape it's not easy to have comps with multiple reactions using Pyro (overvape being the notable exception), while it's easier to mix and match other elements.
Lastly Pyro has a lot of mediocre units since most of them are pure raw on field dmg (and you can on field one units at a time :D) and they heavily depend on strong fast Hydro app to keep up. We could very well say that Xingqiu si the real Goat of Pyro dmg dealers xD
I feel like geo having no noteworthy reactions and having individually strong units is kinda the point of geo, with gorou and itto’s release the intent seems clear to me to just pack of many of them in one team as possible and go to town and that’s its strength, just to shake things up it seems like rather than complicate the reaction chart and give one, fairly entertaining option rather than a number of options
The only reason other elements are still relevant is that anemo can't buff itself lol
(nor geo or dendro)
6:41 nice infinitywar reference 😛
To me Hydro is the strongest, without hydro many element reactions are missing, while anemo swirls and helps spread the elements and does crowd control. Without hydro you couldn't do any of the broken reactions.
For It's just that hydro and anemo are somewhat tied. On top of it hydro unit does not rely on a unique set for them to work so that's a plus for them. For example Kokomi can use multiple sets based on play style like Clam, Tenacity, Deepwood, Guilded, Heart of Depth, etc, Yelan and Xingque can go 2pc 2pc, or nobless and so on..
5:20
Raiden did make electro more meta though. Double electro can be very good and Raiden is by far the best driver and battery in those comps.
Geo numero UNO we don't need to stinkin REACTIONS we got BIG DICK ENERGY FOR DAYS where my GEO MAINS AT WOOOOOOOOOOOO
Still mad about geo, they made a game all about elemental reactions yet one element can't do any reactions
literally just make crystallize reduce resists, do damage on picking up shard or shield breaking, anything .
Geo might be the weakest element but it doesn't need any other element to function properly. Mono pyro, hydro or cryo teams all need anemo to perform. Geo is the standalone element, it can heal, shield, dps, burst and support by itself. Running a mono geo team in the spiral abyss allows you to play your best team with all your best units and the other half. There's only one Bennett and one Kazuha, just for this reason I won't rank geo as the weakest element…
I honestly think you should’ve waited on this video until we had more Dendro characters, it’s Dendro’s biggest weakness
If element good why Amber, Aloy, Anemo MC, Xinyan bad?
Elements are ultimately not important, it's the characters mechanics and numbers that make a difference.
Geo and Physical is just a different playstyle. They DO NOT need some convoluted reaction system.
Element is just one feature of a kit, not the core of it.
My take:
(from weakest to strongest)
Geo – bad reactions, not synergistic
Dendro – reactions are weak, the best reaction is quicken and it's more helpful to electro than dendro
Electro – just like dendro uses transformative reactions which are weak, but it can use anemo characters with VV set
Anemo – strong support element thanks to CC and VV set, it's a nice addition to the team if there is an open team slot
Cryo – dps element, melt and freeze are great offensive reactions, cryo teams are generally the strongest when enemies can be frozen
Pyro – dps element, vaporise and melt are great offensive reactions, pyro teams are strong vs most enemies and don't have the weakness that cryo teams do
Hydro – has the best reactions, a neccesseary element to use pyro, cryo and dendro characters at full potential
I haven't watched the full video yet, but I would definitely argue hydro. Anemo is good for buffing and cc, but hydro is the core of so many reactions and teams. Vape, freeze, any version of bloom, electro charge, so many teams absolutely fall apart without hydro whereas you can generally get away without running an anemo. Hydro characters themselves are also usually top-tier and the resonance change only made them that much better
Anemo gets carried hard by VV set and it’s characters. HYDRO is the most versatile & sought after therefore the best element. It’s not up for debate.
