What Will Genshin Impacts's Next Weapon Type Be?

My thoughts on the potential addition of a 6th weapon type to Genshin Impact, looking at popular community choices and evaluating how well they would fit into the current game.

  1. Dual Gunner, Shield, and Psychic Fist.

So Dual Gunner, two guns nuff said. They need to reload too. Their charged attacks can be locked-on attacks. And I think they should also have some sort of transformation mechanic. This is where the dual guns can combine into a sniper rifle, shotgun or rocket launcher.

Shield-user. Think Captain America and Naofumi from Shield Hero. They can use their shields as throwable discs. They can dual wield shields and fight like a pugilist. Or they can also cast magic from their shields like Naofumi.

Psychic Fist. Think Stand-user but just the arms. So they'd look like giant fists besides the character. And the fists are like the size of Vi's gauntlets from League of Legends. As for the designs, you don't have to worry about that. There's a lot of gauntlet designs out there. I think Black Dessert has a pretty good selection. And this way, they can still have "putting away the weapon" animations.

  2. /ive always thought of adding scythes, but then again it would just be rebranded into claymores
Not polearms mind you. You dont point a scythes, you swing it. If they ever add scythes its easier to put it into claymore so it wont look weird

  3. Please don't use the poor content management mihoyo has on the game as an excuse for "not willing to bother implementing it" they clearly can, but they are too stupid to make use of the potential that the game has always had, it so sad to se the player base conform with so little, and i don't have to prove my point, just look at how many skins are on the game….so much wasted potential…. I still love the game, but i wont accept mihoyo's BS

Ps. A flashy scythe not having place on genshin? Just look at raiden, hu tao, an xiao, moveset, doesn't have to be "ultra flashy", just flashy, and you recommend the ultra flashy chain, like wtf….

And the unspoken rule about characters not using hand to hand combat argument, its just stupid….

Not here to hate, just disappointed that people got used to get so little….

  4. I think that a good adition to the game would be shield type (not a weapon but it would be a great and fun adition to the game ex in game: shield hirichurl and anemo fatui agent). Also boomerang type weapons would add some nice flavor to the game, they would be semi range, semi melee like kunais, shakrams as you say or huuma shurikens (giant shurikens) and whips but im no quiete sure about this type.

  5. By the way, the new Honkai character uses Chakram so you could use that as an initial thought for Genshin taking out the realism for a bit

I like the chain blade Idea a lot but I think that the safest option will be the Schyte, but I would like to see hand axes or guns

For the guns, my though would be an standart approach, two ways, a fast one with a small one like an Uzi or an Ak, and the heavy type, like shotguns or rocket launchers. These depending on character nor weapon
The first one would have quick movement with a long ammo, the heavier ones would have a lot less movility but way stronger hits, both types will do only elemental dmg with the "excuse/reason" of being ussers natural elemental control

Since elemental skills are too dependant on characters giving ideas would be pretty boring but here goes
Smaller gun ussers would have short CD and the skill could be them recharging their ammo while they load a big attack, having a two stage E like Keqing's, after charging they throw their charger at air and shoot it to explode

Biggen ones could be a big explosion where they gather enemies and recharge ammo to attack inmediatly

  6. Whip in sword category
    Scythe in spear category
Fist in catalyst category (might as well since atk speed animation of fist and catalyst almost the same and catalyst is the most flexible and free-form weapon in genshin)

  7. IF they add a new weapon type I doubt it would be for years. However, it's most likely to be staves as they could easily use current animations with them.

However, the most likely thing to happen is characters using weapons less for their attacks. We're already seeing this turning into a trend where characters throw away your weapon and bust out their own signature weapon.
Personally, I'm all for this. I doubt they'll ever add a transmog system, and I just hate the way a lot of weapons look on certain characters. So I say just give them preset weapon graphics and call it a day.

  8. It's not like Axe will be similar to existing weapons but rather
Why even have Claymore over axe in the first place?
seriously Claymore is just Bigger Sword, Why don't it be Axe?

  9. How about throwing knifes
They could add things like kunais normal knifes or darts and be used like quick short ranged attacks.
The only problem i see is the way a character would use them (like how would you make a combo with them?)

  10. Gauntlets are the most probable given the lore and the fact the company has some experience with it(Although Honkai has different devs from Genshin). It also serves a niche in combat not explored before, which is this super strong and fast, extremely short range which encourages you to be wild and reckless, perfect for Natlan. The Chackram Idea sounds more Catalyst like when giving range, but could be included in the gauntlet option, same for claws as well, if a fist becomes the default grip for gauntlet users.

Guns or Crossbows would be my favorite, being a mid-ground between Bows and Catalysts. Catalysts have short range but always apply the element, Bows do so through mostly charged attacks and can be quick-fired. For me, Catalysts are the Claymore of ranged weapons and Bows are the Polearms, so there should be a "sword". Something that always apply the element with each shot, can be aimed, has lots of design flexibility( As long as it resembles a tube and has somewhere to grip in the back, it looks like a gun to me) but isn't that fast nor that powerful. One could even go full Yoimiya with Assault Rifles or Chu-Ko-Nus, full Ganyu with Sniper Rifles, full Childe with Muskets with bayonets for hybrid Gun/Polearm, or go the shotgun route and be a Tactical Klee.

Chain wips are the most different and the option I like the least, since unless the whip is really long, it is on the same niche as polearms, being fast, long-reaching melee weapons that don't do lots of damage per hit and relying on combos. With range, it's a polearm with one or two gimmicks that could be given to a single character(For example one with a Lasso Elemental Skill that pulls enemies or pushes the player).

Scythes ain't niche, they are polearms. To solve the stabbing animation issue, give a tiny point in the end, and it becomes a full-fledged polearm once again.

  11. I think a weapon that is both melee and ranged is a neat idea. I've thought about the possibility of a staff being added. It would be some sort of mixture between a polearm and a catalyst so maybe not the most innovative, but allowing a character to do both elemental ranged damage and smack enemies with it that get to close sounds interesting. Although tbh, I have a feeling it would get the jack-of-all-trades treatment and be worse than both individual weapons.

  12. bayonet gun or just a gunblade, atks like a sword or polearm but aim shots like a bow thats fast elemental shots but u hav to reload it by atking or like double pressing the aim button.

  13. I would be hyped for hatchets, and they technically are in the game, used by that treasure hoarder leader from the most recent lantern rite festival. I think they would have attack speed in between what a regular sword and a claymore have, and then maybe have some unique passive mechanic like they can critically strike on normal attacks (physical damage) but do reduced damage, or alternatively have an mechanic on charged attacks (either being throwable as discussed in the vid, or one powerful strike, as opposed to the regular sword's two swipes)
