I do agree invovling new and old characters can be real helpdful instead of NPCs. I think NPCs are fine if its a characer quests but Archon quest shoul invovle new and old characters
I think if they keep things like this archon quest Genshin will deliver great stories
and they still complain about the lack of content
1 week, its been 1 week.. give it time and people gonna whine again..waaa nothing to do..waaa no endgame..waaa mihoyo is greedy. Oh no i dont hate when people do that, its just a comedy show midway through any patch and its funny how people be going back and forth.

This is why 2.6 and 2.7 have been amazing patches to me, especially 2.6. 2.6 was able to balance a great archon quest, great new region, and a great event story. 2.7 has built upon that and was received really well.
I'm honestly surprised how quickly we got another archon quest. We had a good one in 2.4, one of the best story quests in 2.5, now we have 2.6 and 2.7 with even better archon quests. 2.3 was also really good with Itto's story quest and the Albedo event. I honestly love the 2.X series of updates
Version 2.7's archon quest is indeed one of the best story in the history of Genshin Impact, however I don't think it's because the "side quests" doesn't matter at all in that archon quest, but on the contrary, because those "side quests" EXISTS. Let just say we skip those "meaningless things", we quickly go to the new archon quest, then we found Yanfei. Since we skip story, we DON'T KNOW her, what her occupation is, etc. In fact, if Traveler really don't know Yanfei beforehand, I doubt s/he will help her running from Itto. Just look at early version 2.0 archon quest, the Traveler straight up refuse to help Ayaka because, well, Traveler don't really care about Inazuma situation at that moment. Back to 2.7, after agree to help Yanfei, now Itto is the one who coming to Traveler. Let's say if we don't know who is he, we might find him very annoying, tho he indeed is. We also don't know about Xiao, about his curse, why he seems suicidal, and most importantly, why we like 2.7 archon quest in the first place. Because we ALREADY FAMILIAR with him. We knew his circumstances, we feel sympathy toward him, we feel he deserved better than this. Now if we remove those "side quest", maybe we don't feel as much as this. Maybe we think "oh, that's a great story", but we probably don't feel so attached toward that story. Well-polished characters are also needed for a great story afterall.
However I DO AGREE that most of character's story are not that good. Very few of these are great, the rest are probably don't give as much impact to straight up "meh". To make things worse, we must do those quest first before we can continue with archon quest, and we hardly know which character quest that needed for archon quest. However, those are still IMPORTANT, because mihoyo sells characters afterall. If these characters aren't interesting, why would we pull for them in the first place, right? Also we need more contents. So those characters quest are there to introduced to us what these characters really are, are they shy, are they cheerful, are they a descendant of famous clan etc. We can't really judge them from look alone, can we? And we only get Act 1 for most characters, so far only Zhongli and Raiden Shogun who got Character Story Act 2, so we can hope that the story will progress better than the last act, just look at Raiden's.
So no, we the players, or mihoyo, NEEDS that character's story quest, unless we want Traveler to progress the archon story completely alone, without any help from strangers (example : in Sumeru, Traveler doesn't need any help from Sumeru residents, don't give a f to Cyno, just ask Dendro archon then immediately leaves ).
This quest was nice, yes, but i cannot join the flock of " OMG IT WAS AMAZING". Hoyo starves the players all the time and the delay exposed this dramatically, so in the moment they toss a handful of breadcrumbs, of course they seem delicious and stellar. But they still are breadcrumbs. There's is an improvement in this archon quest, actually is a prelude, wich is that finally we had the characters that we met interacting with each other, instead of NPCs that no one cares about. But scractching the surface of the shiny cinematic, it was yet again a circular quest that lead us exactly where we started. We still know nothing. They talked for hours and told us nothing about the main frigging story. Nice to have some piece of info on a sideline story ( the Yakshas), but still…side story. If Hoyo hoped to clean themeselves and be "forgiven"…sorry, nope.
Good? I deleted the game 3 days ago it was so good. I really wanted to last until Sumeru but no such luck.
The thought of doing that long quest on my other accounts without a skip button is too much. The thought of getting one of these or more every patch and events or maps being locked behind them, even worse.
Other than the quest which is ok at first time and a torture session on every future replay, the update has nothing, it's 6 weeks of filler. This update has the least amount of new stuff ever since 1.4…
Instead of fixing the artifact system we can now see how much copium artifacts other people are using…I always wanted to know 100% of the players use a flat HP flower thank you very much, best info ever!
It honestly doesn't matter how good a quest is, if they force it down our throats, make them mandatory for events or areas, and don't provide a skip button, we'll be unhappy about it. I rather have zero quests in the game than have good quests ruined this way.
One of the reasons I loved Ayatos story quest as much as I did, is because the story and the characters were familiar, for long-running games it is important to not only make callbacks, but make the story feel seemingless, which is definitely not the case for a lot of world quests, of course we have outliers like Sakura quest and Chasm main quest.
I liked the archon quest, one of the best even, if I ignore paimon that is, did not like her.
The story was nice, not really interesting, but therefore much more so funny due to Ittos n Shinobu, the real good story of it is the Yaksha Backstory thats hidden inside of the plain side story that leads to it, popping out like a surprise gift at the end, making players demand now more than ever for more playabla Yakshas after that great story and seeing how beautiful designed they are as a family set of characters that you want to see together again after that hearwarming story more than ever before, because now you have visible faces to those deceased characters and know more about their personalities, not much ,but enough to make you feel attached to them more. especially Bonanus, which strikes at our heartstrings with her ultra sweet Brother Bosacius, that you just want to take her into your arms n hug her xD and let her never go again, because you want her THAT much now.

The thing is the most NPCs do have reoccurring appearances. They’re just too generic to be remembered.

The story from 2.7 was tight. Hell yeah. Especially the Interactions between Characters. Very funny moments where i genuinely laughed and it's been a while since i laughed in Genshin lol. If they had this every single Patch this game would've been a banger. But between filler Events and new Character's you can't always get this is unfortunately a very rare occasion

The voice acting in 2.7 Archon quest was also so good! Made me really immersed its like watching a really good funny anime, but in a game
This is a good patch except for Yelan. Yelan was not good for the following reasons:
1) Wrong type of hype by the community
2) Wrong type of weapon
3) Wrong occupation
Seeing some people change their minds from getting Kazuha to pulling for Xiao instead (Some even C6ed him after finishing the cut scene) says a lot about this archon quest. Tho one of them said “I might regret this later”.
Factors that made 2.7 great:
1. Mysterious feeling and sense of discovery
2. voice acting and fun dialogue
3. emotional connection with the characters
4. a chance to use a bunch of different characters that we've built (plus ones we don't own). Abyss tends to have you just use 2 teams and forget about the rest.
5. Cool new environments together with great music.
All this said, I do feel like they still have a big issue of things being too easy. So many people are saying that they preferred this event challenge to the abyss, but it's just way too easy. I appear to be one of the few people who actually prefers timed challenges due to the adrenaline rush of having to finish on time. I do prefer challenegs that aren't timed if the enemies are much harder to beat (in terms of their damage and aggressiveness, not HP; I don't like damage sponges). Enemies like the new "knights" in the Chasm should be way more aggressive.
The archon quest and character being good has been the case before as well to a better degree (Zhongli rerun, Raiden first and second banners). A one hour quest does not excuse the absence of any endgame content added for 6 weeks, ask people how they are enjoying 2.7 in 2 weeks and you will hear groans and moans
