On day 1 I elemental sighted idyia and guessed she was an oceanid, then I went in that one cave and sure enough, a note saying she was an oceanid lol

On the first day you get to the event map the playable characters pair up and have conversations the player can listen in on. Kaeya tells Klee a story of a Djinn (Genie) that did bad things and was trapped in a little lamp for his crimes. My theory is they are Djinn.
She just made Eidolon with human bodied because some people who visited asked her to make them so they'll keep on taking care of what they build. Nobody died

the people are clones of people in the real world who wanted to accomplish the wishes, but had to leave π finished the quest today!!!!

Then it all made sense in the end

Idiya is an Oceanid who was exiled. She took on human form so she doesn't scare guests. The other NPCs are Eidolons. Some people who visited the Mirage asked Idiya to recreate them so their dreams can live on. The people themselves are propably already dead or very old, since they didn't know about Cameras and the scholar didn't even know who Cyno is and they left the Mirage a long time ago.
So basically they are recreations of real people that exist, by request, thanks to Idiya.
They look cool, another species unlocked lol.

Actually, they are copies of people that came but never realized their dreams while they were in the bottle so then idyia (the oceanid) created a copy of them with hydro eidolons
I only figured that out when I finished the eventπ
I just thought they were Fontaine, then I learned and it made sense!

If you finish the event you'll know that Idyia is an oceanid because she will confesse it and turn into one,she also took the form of a human because she's insecure of the way she looks as an oceanid
