Villain – Genshin Impact Animation

β€œWe all pretend to be the heroes on the good side, but what if we’re the villains on the other?”

Oh wow, I finally finished this animation! (To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I ever was going to finish it.) I’ve been working on it for around 10 months now… so a very long time and I’m really proud of how far I’ve gotten so far.

This animation started as one of my first few, when I was still getting the hang of animating in SFM. It is also one of my favorites.

I really think Lumine and Aether here really compliment the song really well. The line of good and bad is blurring in the story of Genshin Impact and it’s so fun to watch.

Think of this animation as my happy anniversary a whole month late or maybe my love letter to Genshin Impact and the wonderful story it presents in the world of Teyvat. Please enjoy!

  1. man I hope the gods are actually good, and Celestia is the real villain controlling them. That would be cool. I can't really see the gods as objectively bad people, especially Zhongli since we know how much he's done to protect Liyue and his people, but they're also no saints, like Raiden Shogun. And I like the detail of the shades of grey representing how sus or corrupted/evil each character could be at 0:33 and 1:44, it's clever. The darker the shade of gray, the more sus. Like Jean is the epitome of justice and peace in Mondstadt, so she is in pure white, with Kaeya the darkest gray because of his relations with Khaenria'h, but he's not completely black because he still fights for Mondtadt.

Then for the 1:44 one, similar logic with Keqing. She is a skeptic of gods and believes humans should take charge of their own destiny and wants Liyue to be independent, so pure white. Then Zhongli, without him Liyue wouldn't even exist but he still retired because he wants Liyue to be independent, but is a bit gray since he's a god and we still don't know if we can trust the gods. And Childe is the darkest gray cuz Fatui Harbinger but not full black because he cares about his family and stuff.

Sorry I was gushing over the detail so much, I have an eye for details and love it when details like this are added, it's really thought-provoking. If you actually read through my long-ass comment, thanks, I applaud you good sir/madam. Let me know what you think in the replies!

  2. Omg this literally sums up genshin story!!! Like how Lumine looks like she is evil but what if she is actually doing a good thing and we are helping the bad guys?? Also your animating skills are illegal, a masterpiece!

  3. I,absolutely, LOVE the character represented in the video due to the hood and bad ideal in each character the mystery of genshin remains we know lumine is the true villian but what about the archons, and the mystery of the adepti? There are so many storylines to be solved but most of it is just the line of good and bad, Mean and nice. I like to think of it as every update Celestia draws closer and closer
