The Zhongli drama was deserving of that spot, however your description of it didn't really add up. Zhongli's burst had always scaled with HP due to his passive. What changed was that both his normal attack and his skill simply got the same treatment to also scale with HP after the buffs (and a whole slow of other buffs ofcourse)
I completely agree though, Zhongli was extremely mediocore, including his shield considering we had no Geo enemies except slimes and hatchlings and absolutely none in Abyss. Diona's shield outpreformed his since it was filled with cryo and she could heal😂 crazy that Mihoyo thought 'yeah this is okay for an Archon let's give him a bad ass trailer and be done with it'

What changed during Zhongli drama was His hold skill started giving the pillar and shield. You can watch his demo and see that when there's shield there's no pillar but that's not the case anymore.
The geo resonance got reworked. Earlier it only granted resistance to interruption I think. After the drama the geo resonance seems like it was made specifically for Zhongli. 🤣
I don't know if they changed DMG multipliers on him or they fixed his split scaling.
Though Mihoyo only did that for Zhongli because Chinese revolted and liyue represents China. Nobody in Japan cares for Raiden's synergies not working. 🤣
Now that they started making abyss hard I can agree that the zhongli buff was a good thing. But this stupid habit that mihoyo has of selling the solution before creating the problem is really starting to annoy me now.
