Water is an interesting yet mysterious force within Genshin Impact. In this video, I analyze the element from hydro from a lore perspective in hopes of predicting what roll its concepts will play in Fontaine’s storyline.

My take after doing the Melusine world quest is flipped upside down.
The melusines are created by Primordial water, which I suspect is not primordial but the Abyssal sea. More on this later. However these creatures see the Abyss as a luscious garden filled with magical animals. They also see the traveller as the devourer that will consume the entire world. What if we been lied to. What if the primordial one took the power from the Abyss to become the new ruler of Theyvat. Fast forward a king in ancient times aquire forbidden knowledge that would reveal to him that humans were born from sin. He then chooses to call himself the "sinner" and decides to kill the usurper he then disguises himself as the primordial one. Irminsul would record these actions as "truth" and past history would be erased the longer time went. The humans would assume that Abyss is the enemy and try to remove what they perceive as corruption without access to forbidden knowledge. The only way to access such information is with the Gnosises that is the only explanation that makes sense within the story. The Fatui are humans that once were explorers, but after finding evidence of being lied to have decided to rebel against the false god and prepared to do anything to free mankind from tyranny that they do not yet know about.

It seems like Hydro is associated with prophecy too, although we haven't made a connection with Mona yet, we do have René's world formula and the local national story this year revolves around a prophecy.
The purity thing may come in too, as it may be that only those who are pure enough in some sense (not "dross") are dissolved into the primordial sea. However this contrasts with the idea that the prophecy involves a "first sin" even if it "the fairest".
I think instead of water reflecting light power, more like water reflect both light and dark. this is well-reflected in Mona as a character, who seeks to understand fate by seeing at its reflection in water.
it's just that narrative-wise, since we're being told that the abyssal power is bad, we are focusing more on using water as a mean to separate the "good" from the "bad", and then we throw away the "bad".
we know ichor is a purified water from the sense of light, and that if ichor exists, the counter of ichor prob also exists somewhere.

What if the reason that even a god cannot edit out the truth out of Irminsul that easily… is because the water remembers the truth?
since you know: these days water represents collective consciousness and, for a lack of better words, the "wish of life".
This might explains the reason why when a seelie lost their bodily form, they lost their memory. Since the moons are also reflecting the morning star (an allegory for existence.)
and that, if we assume Paimon is a Seelie,
the reason no one knows Paimon despite her claiming she's been wondering off the land before getting into a whirlpool and then getting fished out by the traveller…. is because she didn't have a physical form by then. She didn't even have a name, or maybe she did but she had forgotten it. Her true identity only slowly reemerging out of her as she was regaining a body.
Remember the Solitary Sea Beast quest that we had in inazuma.. and if you remember, "The Life of Mouun the Shrine Maiden" book has mentions of whales, and it just makes me wonder …
It's interesting how in the Teyvat Chapter storyline, since most of the Archons are willing to give up their gnosis but in the storyline mentions that the Hydro archon knows "Not to make an enemy with the divine". This makes me think that Furina will be on the side of Celestial and not give up her Gnosis so easily
Water in astrological terms is the deadliest element too, and it is connected to the transcended ethereal.
The Vast Life water nourishes is the depth of its Destruction.

Water makes up all life, the previous dendro archon was only able to make simurgh by combining hydro and dendro. Using the power of kharvena to combat the abyss directly. ousia does seem to be a weakened form of abyssal energy, pneuma the same of celestial energy, because theyre weaker the annihilation reaction doesnt cause massive antimatter like energy release. Low grade energy release that it usuable by devices. Once it's reacted though it's reasonable to assume the result is now pure. Cleansed of both ousia and pneuma. I suspect focalors is not pure herself but puts on a show of it. But not being pure doesnt mean she's evil, she's possibly got two states and swings from one to the other like somebody suffering biopolar.
Something has kept her in her pneuma personality for a long time, and it's possibly why we hear the ousia personality crying an the fountain of lucine at night. Just my latest crack theory.

Shanghai is successful and its beside the shorelines as well as Tokyo, London,New York and many more as well as in the Old world especially romans since they build acqueducts for their communities to prosper.
Also the concept of justice ingame with Hydro my guess is When you measure the height of Objects ,Structures and Terrains its always called Above sea level since water throughout the world has the same horizon which means equal while in Ground it has slopes and steep terrains.
Lastly and a Random fact the elements that builds up water in the Periodic table are Hydrogen and Oxygen. Oxygen is abundant in earth while Hydrogen is the Most abundant element throught the entire universe then when you think about it Mona can foresaw the Fate of someone through their constellations and constellations in the space are made up of Stars and whats intriguing is some Stars are Made up of Hydrogen.
