Omg I love the ending
Me as a Genshin player, i know and that's why i love the game
Genshin is that game I wish I could play but as someone that's invested in a handful of gacha I just can't play the game knowing it's a gacha first, game second :/
I've played SIF for almost a year, Bandori and still playing Arknights since launch. Genshin looks great because of how chill it is.
I'm greatly offended but I agree with the points your making
genshin: copies breath of the wild
Yakkocnm: Genshin shamelessly copied botw
genshin: Creates a few mechanics of its own
Yakkocnm: Genshin even failed to copy botw properly
I don't mean any offense. just a meme. please don't kill me-
i like Genshin, i really do, but there's still a point where you have to admit the game fucking sucks and i'm well aware of that fact. there are moments that truly shine in the game for me, such as certain character quests (but only some of them) and finding out the lore which is the main reason i'm still in this game. but there's a lot that stops this game from actually being good, which in my opinion mainly comes from the community. i'm not saying everyone in the community is bad, there are truly some people in there that actually know what they're talking about, but due to the fact that a majority of the community expects the absolute best from mihoyo and get upset when the rewards they get for the anniversary aren't good when the main reason this game was made was to take money from your wallet is a large reason on why i usually stay away. despite my love-hate relationship with the game, i do tell my friends to give it a try because the game really is more fun when playing with friends and i want to talk to more people about the lore and what they think will happen next.
I have a friend who has has spent almost $1000 dollars on Genshin and I still haven’t spent a single penny on it and we both seem to get the same level of enjoyment out of it.
I mostly treat Genshin as a background game as I've done with gachas I've played previously in my life
It's a game I play in the side, not paying much mind, while I do more meaningful stuff in my life, and I wouldn't recommend Genshin to everyone, because I have friends who quit or refuse to play it for the same reasons Yakko has presented and he is 100% right
It's a game where you win by either not playing or not spending any money, and lose the moment you spend your own money on it, like any other gacha
Fk all people who defend Gacha period
This right here is why I don't recommend this game to anyone. As someone that is ankle deep into the anal cavity that is genshin, I've realized many times over how flawed this game is. I continue playing because of how invested I am in this slow progressing story and on some false hope that the game introduces something that is refined enough to make me proud as a gamer of over 25 years
While i think you brought up some good points through the video, some are exaggerated, biased or lack of information. First, the grind in genshin is non-existant, you cannot grind because everything is timegated (which is an actual problem), the "exploration" doesn't even count as grind and more of a gameplay aspect of the game, most people do it because its fun, not always because it gives resources, and like you said, it ends and when it ends the game becomes a 10-15 minutes day and this all becomes to preferences becomes some people do find grinding fun. That being said, i wouldn't recommend genshin to anyone (unless i knew what kind of games they like), at least NOT now, people like to say game is a bad game or even a bad "gacha" but i believe genshin, in the gacha industry as a whole, is a POSITIVE thing, why? Gachas will always exist and will ALWAYS be predatory because weak-willed people will always exist however in genshin case, it at LEAST offers them a decent gameplay experience COMPARED to other gachas (which they probably are playing too) and while your point about the game not really being "totally free" is true, is nothing compared to the more predatory practices like the meta evolving around PVP, new units, etc (I see you Honkai impact). In the end, if you like genshin you'll see its problems and its our choice to keep playing them despite that, as for me, i believe genshin, even with its problem, is a GREAT step-forward in the industry, showing other lazy companies that EFFORT can and does work. Would i like it to improve? Sure, but as of now, there's nothing else like it and is not like its wasting too much time on my day, i play the 15-30 minutes a day and thats it
I stopped playing genshin pretty recently, and this video perfectly articulated so many of my grievances towards the game, plus some things I hadn't even thought about. It was a great way for me to keep in touch with friends, but ultimately mihoyo's greedy tendencies just made me hate a game that had so much potential to be good. If the main story and gameplay weren't so soulless, I would've absolutely loved the game.
Ultimately, the biggest redeeming factor for this game is its co-op, which is the only thing keeping me from uninstalling the game completely. I had fun torturing Xiangling to death with her bear's own fire while my friends watched, and to be honest it's pretty hilarious that Childe's last bow auto-attack inadvertently places him at the perfect height to slap the poor unsuspecting Wangshu Inn cook's beefy ass. Sadly, you really need to think outside the box to discover these rare moments, in contrast to the monotonous grindy aspects that really take the fun out of playing. Great video, Yakko!
You kinda misunderstood some things, but yeah, genshin have a lot of bad sides
I really wanna know the dislike ratio of this….
Wait until you see the western fandom
31:50 Ah yes "HIGH QUALITY CONTENT"
this is literally now my fave vid, it perfectly explains what its like to play genshin from someone whos still playing it
As playing genshin like right now and have been playing 10 months
Yes I hate this game but I can’t stop
Unfortunately…they know what they are doing. Imagine what they COULD achieve if they wanted to make an honestly good quality project? But hey if they CAN nearly "make free money as efficiently as possible by tricking invested players into being their lil cash factories" and they want to stoop that low…who's gonna stop them? and why wouldn't they, its efficient nearly free money?
When you think about it, life is almost exactly like genshin
Oh Hey! I remember the time I watched your Jojos Bizarre Adventure Games video!
Thank God Genshin doesn't have an auto function! Let the machine play is really stupid …
well genshin is free compared to botw.
This has to be a meme. How can you say Genshin is copying botw? Genshin has its own unique design and the game play is more advanced the botw. Imaging comparing these two games like who made the most in a fricken month? It's not because be just like spending money it's because they enjoy the game. I'd you have a device that can run Genshin I advice you to get this game it's amazing. This man didn't make a relevant issue on the game other than it's like botw. Even though it's not. In my opinion I'd you see the maps their releases as of the time I'm speaking you would say botw is a freaking joke
I disagree with the riddle of puzzles being explained, if it’s a world quest you get NO EXPLANATION ALMOST 100% of the time, like the kitsune that wanted you to purifying these things under inazuma. And it’s just horrible I’m always searching them on YouTube.
The hero we need
Regarding the statements around 30:00 ,the goal is to make the game "good" and to make it good we have to make good characters that people want, how can u make a statement that says the game should not make us want characters when new characters is an integral part of the game?
Also about the generalized "addiction" statement: since we're kinda the same age, I'm sure u remember the e sports hype around CS 1.6 in our early teens,1.6 did not have a single element that required our money or attention, yet an average 14 year old was addicted to it all the same. Gaming and addiction go hand in hand no matter what, there must be some reason WHO identifies it as an illness right?
That moment when you get an ad for Genshin on this video of all things.
Im addicted exactly like you said, but to youtube… this video can be relevant to every addictive thing in this planet
I'm a PS4 user Genshin does not separate Playstion friends from the other Genshin friends but there's a friend limit on genshin. PSN has a higher friend limit than genshin. This is a popular game that everyone downloaded and played at least once meaning im far over the friend limit and I cant play with any friends unless there are also PlayStation players or I would need to delete over half my PlayStation friends to add anyone to genshin who not also PlayStation user
side note Why is the PS4 the slowest performing version of this game that runs on a cell phone? I have been kicked or failed to claim domain rewards because i load too slow
BEFORE YOU SEND THIS GUY DEATH THREATS ON TWITTER HE SAID THIS IS HIS OPINION
So other than gacha is shit and there is so much grinding, all other critique i felt were "oh i was forced to play this overly popular game which i didnt think i would enjoy and built preconceptions about it only to end up nitpicking small details about the it"
nice, i agree with every point you made. Im glad ive never played it
Can't trust the Chinese to make anything with substance
while i totally agree that genshin is a soul sucking game, i do feel like it’s gacha system is passable when compared to other gacha games out there. i feel like everyone getting angry over the gacha has probably never played a gacha game other than genshin before, because as someone who’s played one too many gacha games in their life, i’d rather get a pretty character in 90 to 180 pulls than never get a basic png of an anime girl in a gacha game without pity.
I got TWO Genshn Impact Ad watching this, huh
I wonder what people were thinking when they saw yakko just drowning a cardboard cutout on the beach
You’re gonna come back to it sooner or later and you know it there’s no escape from gacha hell
You pointed out the nature of every issue correctly, my disagreement lies within the levels of your criticisms:
"Too much grinding" – Genshin has noticably some of the lowest amounts of necessary grinding amongst mobile games that have any grinding mechanics at all, it's just that you are too used to playing without them.
Repetitive exploration? It's meant to be highly casual in the first place.
Inconsistent combat difficulty? As you progress you get more options to manually adjust it to your liking.
AR locks? Relatively fast to overcome.
Gacha? You knew what you signed up for, the game is notorious for it, shouldn't be too much of a revelation. It is absolutely not a kids game, but admittedly, the demographics survey show that most players are adults and I ve personally seen not a single sizable Genshin content creator who is under the age of 16.
As an amateur poker player and a libertarian I am not a big fan of govt regulations in that area, as most of them usually end up creating significant inconviniences to the conscious players.
yep. I only watch story recaps and cool animations now. The world is amazing as long as you aren't in it
Welp, there are actually a lot of Problems in Genshin, and some are adresse by the "gacha hell" part you did.
but the rest ist just whining on an educated level, its not like "the hidden collectibles" or "the icy effects of dragonspine" or "grinding" (even if its not really that grindy, given you are limited on daily achievable things in most parts) are bad things necessarily, you just don like em.
i do know quite a lot ppl who really enjoy those features
sure, you can ramble on as long as you like about those things, but after forcing yourself for over a hundred hours through a game you dont enjoy, its a pity that you didnt even touch the real problems it has and not just the features that are not your favorite.
theres a reason why this game has such "terrifying succes", and that is:
"its well made and offers exactly what the average target audience person wants"
you are just not the target, apparently
EDIT: in some points i really agree with you, and i would never ever tell ppl to join this gacha hell, it kinda makes you waste a lot of time (and money) so therefore: stay away kids
