I tried to tell everyone , due to his split scaling he is just male xinyan. The truth is Xinyan is much better than thoma
Diona needs C1 to help with her energy issues she is also hard to work with at C0 she needs sacrificial bow to make her enjoyable when she first came out people didn't like her, but as more people got constellations she jumped tiers. Same with Xiangling she needs C1 for res shred and C4 to increase burst duration. They've been in the game forever and we have constellations on them because they've been in a ton of banners. Of course Thoma and new 4 stars will feel lacking at C0, they are not being compared on an equal playing field. 4 stars absolutely need their constellations to increase their synergy and team utility. Same applies to Bennett and Xingqiu the kings of 4 stars, at C0 they can perform their duties, damage boost and pyro application with some struggles, Bennett has that hp restriction not as beefy a boost and Xingqiu has less duration and 50 percent less damage and no shred.
My point is the new characters are balanced as they should be, fulfilling their role at c0 and adding to that role the more constellations they have. Thoma is a shield with some off field pyro application that helps with elemental reactions and makes for new team comps that are fun. My current favorite is Childe Kazuha Bennett and Thoma š

Did 20 pulls in the character banner the 1st i got Diona and i'm the second multi pull i got Hu Tao twice and a Sacrificial long sword lol
As a Hu Tao player, in my opinion double geo on Hu Tao is still much better than double pyro. Double Geo makes Hu Tao safer because itās buffing the shield and also provide damage bonus. Geo shield is always absorb all element, while elemental shield only absorb the element of the shield it self. So using Thoma to be shielder and provide pyro resonance is not really that good compared to using double geo on Hu Tao. I rather use Noelle/Zhongli with Geo Traveler/Albedo than use Thoma with other support.
It still good alternative tho if you had no access to geo resonance or you want more crowd control to use like Thoma+Sucrose or Thoma+Kazuha, but the sad thing is if heās not c6 all he provides is just shield and pyro resonance.

I pulled thoma and I'm very happy i did. Because of him i finally built Bennett. I'm running Thoma, Bennett, Sara, and Baal. I have r5 favonius weapons on everyone except Baal. Ive never had so much fun doing normal attacks. Thoma synergizes very well with favonius weapons and Baal builds resolve from all those particles flying around. Ults are always up. I don't think favonius requires basic attacks but basic attacks are fast hits and better your chances of consistent crits. The team is a quick swap team with a couple normal attacks in between elemental and burst skills. It's just a fun team i wouldn't summon it to clear abyss. His kit also synergizes with beidou and xinqiu but i already have those characters dedicated to my abyss teams.
Also never use thoma ult without using his e shield first. At talent level 9 his e shield starts with 12% hp compared to his burst level 9 which only stacks 1.9% hp per basic attack. You always want to start with the fat shield then stack smaller shields on top.
The problem with Thoma is that he didn't come home after 50 pulls. Cant risk it anymore, I dislike Hutao š¤£ well hopefully with time we will discover better ways to use him and maybe I will get him later, too
You only talked about c0 and c2 what about just c1 mines c1 will that be good enough
Did anyone try C4 Yanfei as a teammate for Hu Tao? Apparently she could work nicely as both a shielder and a pyro applicator for Sucrose or Kazuha to swirl pyro off.
I sorta tried that in domains while farming friendship and it seems to work but with my Yanfei only being 20/40 I can't exactly bring her to the abyss.
Ironically I didn't build her before because I always knew Hu Tao would be my main pyro DPS but now that I finally got her I might end up doing just that lmao.
So if some of you have tried Tankfei before I would greatly appreciate your feedback, thanks!

I agree that he's constellation-gated. I have C6 Thoma (HP/HP/HP, Skyward Spine) and his shields are godly! Not on same lvl as Zhongli but not far from it and better than Diona.

Sam, i love all your videos, i like the fact u love Mona the same as me ( + i pulled all hydro characters because of you) but, i dont like when u show a shogun raiden clip cuz its freaking C2 it doesnt make sense showing that thinking that im ever gonna get that with C0 lol
i got really unlucky and only got one thoma while doing 90+ wishes for hu tao, and his shield uptime really does feel horrible at c0. guess ill just stick to my c5 diona

does hutao thoma xingqiu vaporize thingy only work well if u have c6 xingqiu? ive got c2 thoma , but if it does not work ill just build diona instead. my xingqiu only c0 tho
He also has energy problems. Making his C4 almost necessary, otherwise you'll have to split his stats between HP (stronger shield) and ER (more uptime).
I wasted so much resin and mora leveling him up.. but still… "disappointing"..
I'm happy with him, I pair him with hu tao and diona with ayaka. i use zhongli with Ningguang. I'm a bit disappointed but I'm not really hoping for high numbers and broken abilities like xingqui, he's good but not the best

Honestly the only logical move to do would be to buff the current and new characters to the same level as the old ones. If they nerf characters like xin, bennet and xiangling it would be a slap to those who main them or invested into them. Genshin is PvE so buffing characters shouldn't be that bad. If anything buffing characters would be a good marketing move for them even though you can complete all the content with any invested character.
I have a C6 Thoma, hp hp hp protype starglitter, 34000 hp 248 ER, talent 1 9 9, his shield is very consistent and his burst is always ready
the issue i see with an Ayaka team with Thoma is that her cryo application is much faster so he's going 2 melt with his kind of crap damage and even if Ayaka melted once it's only 1.5 plus she has a lot of hits not big hits, he's no Bennett when it comes 2 enabling double vaporize Mona ult, Ganyu u would have 2 do n1c not just charged attacks but it would work sicne charged attack take longer than his skill, especially level 2 charge, with Hu Tao and Xingqiu comps it's been proven that Thoma doesn't mess with it 2 much, and as 4 Raiden overload is meh but the shield is nice while say doing her with Diona is better 4 consolidating the healer role but both have elemental reactions with Raiden that r useless unless u r using Raiden and Diona 2 battery and support a Eula.
I was looking for a Remplace for Xinqiu to Build a Vape Comp with Hutao or Freeze team with Ayaka, and Thoma actually surprised me with Raiden's Comp, not only He was able to sustain his shield to not get interrupted but also enabling Raiden to do a Massive DMG with Her Burst doing Overload, doing 120K DMG consistently with my Raiden even if I did not have enough Stacks for Raiden's Ult, it's just amazing.
My Thoma is also C5, and I seriously considering to get his C6 to complete his kit.
