i mean, this doesnt really mean they will never be playable, im sure they will make a design for them, but nmot yet, because they were either to lazy or it would be a too early leak. (even tho they did that with baizhu)

Until proven otherwise, I’m choosing to believe that these NPC looks are generic disguises. They did say they wanted to blend in and not be noticed by Cloud Retainer, right? Sooo maybe they have a “true” human form.

I am pretty sure that's not their true human form because they were trying to disguise themselves from xianyun. Xianyun definitely knows their true human form.
So there's still hope for them being playable.

Didn't people think Shenhe herself was an adepti during the interlude quest? And she's human! I'm surprised no one's question Cloud Retainer and her extraordinary look! (Unless they have in the latter's SQ, correct me because I hadn't gotten there yet).
If anything Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper are actually blending in perfectly

Do people even read dialogues anymore?? The point of their npc-looking forms is for blending in and and for disguise from Xianyun.
Plus, they can pick any form they want, maybe in the future they'd be released with new designs😵💫
