I'll speak for myself when it comes to this, but of course you can play however you want this this PvE game. But imagine you see someone running Pyro Xinyan, Cryo Eula, Electro Razor, ATK Sucrose, ATK Albedo, Crit Kokomi, etc. These are things that can do damage, but they are at odds with the character kit design. Kokomi was given -100% crit rate, so when people build crit Kokomi, of course everyone views that as a meme. Idk about the past situations you mentioned, but in this case you whipped up a team that wants to utilise quicken, but at the same time has Yelan that very consistently removes the quicken aura. It's at odds with itself, so people just laugh at it. Much like all those other meme builds I mentioned. It's not that I'm competing with you in anything, but I see before me a team that tried to do two opposing things, so I comment on why thats a bad idea. Think of it as OCD – The same team could be so much better simply by swapping a few artifacts, it just feels wrong when it isn't so.
Also just want to make one thing clear. When I said "In conclusion: bad team, I'm waiting for the apology video" that was an attempt at sarcasm, which I often try to add to my essay comments. So that part is certainly not a "competitive trash talk", just an attempt at humour. Ultimately, I have one last thing to say…
You really gonna stay on mono electro until you die? You get no reactions in Genshin. Your purpose in life is learning about reaction mechanics daily! Your purpose is studying Sukokomon rotation daily! Your reaction damage is nothing! Your Nahida serves ZERO purpose! You should build EM NOW! And give somebody else a piece of that Atk% sands and crit rolls, that's filling up your inventory just so you could one shot hilichurls harder. Because what are you here for? To 36* the abyss? Build EM. I mean that, with a hundred percent. With a thousand percent.
Tbh… can't see it the only "competitive" stuff i saw was with streamers Teccy, Tashman Envi. Not even on Twitter aside usual mimimi. Friendos around me nobody gives a shit lend a helping hand or foll around once or twice. Only once did i a "silly challenge" in abyss but thats it.
Could be a me thing and most likely is im a social media albino with my habits/use ahaha. Most stuff i look up is guides content and musicans/artists that react or "research" every now and then hehe~
EDIT: Also most likely is a "side effect" of the Genshin community its gigantic there are multiple "layers" an communities lore beans, casuals, tryhards, minigame enjoyers, explorers etc.
The reason why i think some "tryhards/challenge folks" are out of bounds so much is we get the short end of the stick since 2 years. We only have abyss to challenge ourselves and its really getting boring so probalby being competitive around others is a cope mechanism xD
You called it "strange", I call it stupid, I found your first video about Nahida's build nice and got confused when you made the "I was wrong" one. Genshin is a casual game and your videos are great cuz you are really chill, those who only care about perfect build n cant appreciate that someone is having fun with whatever he likes should go touch grass tbh.
Imagine being competitive in a PvE focused game, people should stop being so serious and relax.
As someone who plays "non-optimally" casually (non-Nilou bloom Childe, physical/freeze main dps Mika, physical Cyno, etc) I still usually try separating when I'm talking about fun comps and ways to play apart from when I'm talking about optimizing. I have a friend who was a bit newer to the game a while back who really wanted to convince me that physical Xiao hits harder than the traditional build and I just tried explaining why it was interesting but I had a hard time believing that. We kinda argued over it a little but they eventually came around and ended up liking the normal build better though.
I definitely do think a lot of people go way overboard and get a stick up their butt over the meta, min-maxing, and in saying non fully optimized characters are "trash" which is why "meta players" get such a bad wrap. Imo there's nothing wrong with playing non-optimally especially if you're having fun but I do think there are better ways to inform others of optimal and non-optimal approaches especially since Genshin is such a casual game. The meta is a suggestion not a must.
It's fine to play whatever you want. If you look at randoms accounts most people arent competitive and have no idea about meta. Not saying you did but a lot of youtubers used to give terrible advice. That's probably why people are more critical towards you.
Generally speaking, if you seek, make, or comment on meta/combat focused content, you'll be among competitive players. So, in a game that has no pvp, they'll create their own by whipping out their little builds and comps to compare and yell "my accounts bigger than yours" and "OMG, your Zhongli's E is so tiny, your such a loser" and so on and so forth.
I think you specifically get so much hate, flopping around and smacking you across the face, because you're a content creator, who has had a sizable amount of meta/combat focused content, so you experience that side of the community exponentially more. People will be hyper critical of anything you say.
You've also made your fair share of shit post videos so some of your audience is naturally going to be extra hard on you. Especially those that can't get hard on you and have tiny accounts.
Bottom line, it's a pve game, keep it in your pants, no one wants to see your builds.
It is so competitive that it make DDR look casual. I've had this happen to me a lot. I play genshin casually but a lot, I've never had a game that I've been super hardcore in because casually playing is just my playstyle. I've played for nearly two years and I still don't understand how team comps work so I genuinely have no idea why this game is so competitive when there's no need for it to be. I guess people are just bored
I would say the reason is virgins tend to have lower EQ than the average population.
Some people just need to touch grass 😁
Only thing that irks me is the Kazuha, do you not need healers?
I think it's because of the lack of endgame content. A lot of people want the average player to be competitive, cuz they think, myself included, that they could get the developers to make more permanent engame combat content. When more people get the fact, that this games endgame content isn't existent and that whaling is the most stupid thing that you can do, then those stupid game developers won't earn any money anymore. Cuz that's the only thing they fucking care about. They don't care about anything but money and the only thing they do for us is new regions (wow i fucking love those shity unclimable Walls in Sumeru!!!!!) and more characters for the otakus and yes they also include every other game they know in the game in some kind of minigame, I came here cuz of the cool combat system not to play pacman! They know that Timaeus stands to close to the crafting table it even was in the 3.5 livestream, but they won't change his position to a place further away from the crafting table; and that proves, that they don't give a shit about anything but money. And if you clear abyss with this shabby team, that only works cuz you are a whale (I know now you aren't anymore but a whale will always be a whale) than they think that you can only clear abyss if you whale.
So please play your Raiden in a hypercarry team with benett kazuha and sara cuz you won't deal more damage by putting nahida in this team. Raiden's electro app in her burst is terrible! quicken doesn't help her damage at all! that is like playing ayaya in a melt team! Stupid! ayaya has normal icd and so does raiden. It is true that nahida buffs raiden, but that's the other raiden build, the full elemental mastery raiden where you only use her skill to trigger hyperblooms and simply ignore her burst.
I don't get it myself but i personally am a fan of make my own meta. The community is peculiar for sure but i also do a lot of co op mode and enjoy it honestly compared to single player. The concept of being online mandated and being single player is another thing that makes no sense. Why play an online game and ignore co op mode? One of few reasons justifying the mandate of my internet.
I agree
Lol Genshin is a single player game
If ppl wanna compete then let's do live 1v1 or 3v3 teams when ppl can swap all 4 characters
Until we have that let's just be impressed with what someone can do F2P
Sorry, val, but its just a lot of people in genshin have a league background. And its literally the most competitive and toxic a game could get
My Eula team stomps everything in the game that i do, The only thing i don't do is abyss (and tcg)
because abyss is irrelevant especially when you have 130 days of welkin..lol
They can say Eula/Zhongli/Rosaria/Raiden is a bad team til their blue in the face
but the fact is it's got me through everything in the game that i do now and that's all i need.
Since i got c1 Mona instead of Nahida, Now i'm trying to build other teams such
as a Nilou team for example so i have something different to play around with and
in accordance with that i'm hoping Kirara and Nilou pair well now i have my guarantee
for Kirara.
Other people will never dictate how i play in any game and anyone who thinks they can is sorely mistaken.
13ms ping 😱 my dude literally living near da wei's house.
valk is the most hardcore genshin grindy player i ever seen kekw
watch how casual he is and enjoy using the wrong team.
thas illegal lmao
thx for the nice stream today^^ was funny
valk doesnt know………genshin pvp is real
the more people you have in the same zone the more competition you have naturally, genshin is just that big
I'm not that competitive, but sometimes when I look at some of my friends' builds, I'm thinking "what the hell is this?"
what I don't understand about this community is why did they play genshin like the way they playing mmo games
idk what came of me when I suggested what I suggested that Nahida damage comparison video lol
yeah I see it way too often, CC and players always seem to love to talk about optimal damage, but rarely about how pretty/handsome this waifu/husbando is, or how much of a great personality they have
as for why? One word: copium. people high on copium hoping hoyo would change their minds about not adding more endgame stuff to the game, and they probably hope that if hoyo sees enough people debating damage and endgame. they would change their minds. "it's low" would be an understatement of how low of a chance it is, but never 0
The only thing I would love to do in the game is to build loads of different sets for a character, meme-build or not, but not constellation-based builds like I saw a CC reacts to healer Zhongli (which needs c6 to be able to do), that shi was hilarious xD
You use a weak character to win
The FGC: Wow! you're amazing!
Genshin C: Stop playing that character
I don’t understand why people have to feel so competitive in games. I try to avoid playing hardcore outside of FromSoft games.
If the content is too dry. Toxicity comes out most of the time, since theres literally nothing to talk about.
Most drama happens on dry season aswell.
Just wait until a new 4.0 drip comes out.
Also The community just simp too hard on hoyoverse.
It's because they don't have any real problems in life.
sup valk, sup comments
At least for me, the only time I have had a problem is when someone asks why I didn't pull for some character that is good. I don't like a lot of them, and honestly, I have no primo anyway. I have had people in co-op judge my weapon choice, but that's usually when I want my character to look good lol.
Try NOT to understand the Genshin Community challenge! [GONE TOO WELL] (Got reverse pranked) [GONE ASEXUAL] I still dont understand anything!
Someone had to say it the genshin fan base is very competitive. It rivals fighting games communities like Smash Bros. People only care about damage and being simps. People act like everyone should pull for who they want yet the only characters to be recommended to players or most played units are meta ones like Nahida or Yelan. Nobody pulls for Albedo or Klee. The only reason people were mad about dehya was because she wasn’t meta. People go crazy when a character is niche, needs a 4*, or strict comp. If you don’t play the correct team comp you will get destroyed on Reddit and people will say all of their meta terms, comps, and what you need to do to improve your builds.
Because they give so much importance to their way of seeing the game that they want everyone to follow or else you're denying them the validation that they want because they're probably a bit insecure. I used to be a bit like that with my friend but I mostly stopped it.
I mean while Genshin doesn't have a true end game where the min/max and proper teams would matter as much , I look at it as just doing your best as a human every time no ? If you do everything to the best of your ability whether its cooking a chicken or making good Nahida teams it sets a mentality for success no matter what you do in life. So maybe the people that are vocal about this are those kind of people ? I think its fine to take Genshin competitively as long as you don't force those ideals on other people. Look at this analogy , I am free to stuff my turkey with nerds candy and butterfingers , its all food and it doesn't matter it all goes down my stomach, but best believe people will call you out for it and say that isn't the optimal way to stuff a turkey , same thing there is probably an optimal way to build certain teams even though it doesn't matter as much.
Its so strange. A friend gets angry at me for using 4 star characters and i tell him the game is easy, but he insist in that i use my 5 stars
I have characters with non optimal sets, like 2 husk 2 petra albedo, or a hybrid Kazuha, GD Nahida (RNGesus blessed me with better stats than DW) I work with what I have, and if I can't build a character I bench it and maybe little by little I get the equipment I need. I just try to have balanced characters
The whole video can be explained with just one phrase, "Knowledge is power". If Genshin players see someone "not building a character/team right" then they'll have that sense of superiority of knowledge. A simple explanation for the complicated nature of the Genshin player mind. HAHAHA 😂
That's kind of every video game community. I think it's just more noticeable given how large of a fan base this game has. I don't really care how other people play and I'm not very competitive. I just always min-max in every rpg I play.
Just a bunch of weak beta males.
It's basically MMO community in a nutshell. In various games people really care what you run, because there is a risk when someone's weak build/performance might impact whole group success. Even if they shouldn't. Because Genshin is first really big gacha game on pc, and it is semi multiplayer, even if only to farm shit, it really brought many MMO players to it, and they brought that competitive attitude with them.
That' just you. U build your community around that so people are gonna correct u. A bunch of creators out there dont give a damn about playing optimally, pulled for waifu, vids about genshin story, vids of random ass coop moments, pulled cons because they like the chars but then benched them, etc and so the community built by that content never questions their pepega gameplay etc.
People with the most extreme views are usually the loudest ones, those that are just happy to go about their lives tend to leave others to get on with their own lives too.
if there is no content in game then community creates content outside of game
If people are saying that this game is "easy" as they say, then why pull for characters? My guess, people are just simping for the characters and big numbers.
It is Made of weebs and entitled children… what do you expect my dude?!
Man, the genshin community is made up of entitled people with superiority complexes. They'll feel offended by every opinion or statement that doesn't align with theirs, and treat you like a chimp with a tick sized brain when they think they know better. Then after attacking you or insulting you they'll act like the bigger man so they can get their internet points.
They'll even put words in your mouth, gaslight you and upset you just to make it seem like you are the toxic one
At least that's what I think when I come from reddit which I nowadays don't use as much as I used to. But there are some special one here on YouTube aswell.
