You’ve probably noticed the way miHoYo handles the latest 4-stars from Inazuma region and how they tie-in with the rest of the Genshin’s cast and the thing that stands out the most about them is the focus on maximizing on their niche. Characters like Thoma, Kujou Sara and even Sayu are part of a design philosophy to only be good at 1 or 2 things instead of other 4-stars like Bennett or Xingqiu.

Along with this topic, there’s other areas this video explores, like the hindsight effect on characters like Raiden, Kokomi and Yoimiya, which had their own fair share of public outcry. Also, I go through the whole segment of Hu Tao banner 2.2 Genshin Impact crazy effect in the current meta and how much of a demand can re-run banner have even when Genshin has been out for more than a year.

Genshin Impact is an open-world gacha game that’s available on PC, PS4, PS5 and mobile devices (iOS & Android). Genshin Impact features fast gameplay with best RPG elements in an action packed setting.

  1. My biggest problem with this style of balancing is that the new,. niche characters, aren't significanly better, or even worse at their niche than the universal characters from Mondstadt and Liyue. Take sara for example, she's supposed to be an atk buffer specifically for electro teams, and especially raiden. However, bennett is just better in so many ways, even on electro teams, and he also is insane in basically every other team as well.

  2. I don’t really mind that the Inazuma characters max out on their niche it makes for really fun gameplay for some and none of them are necessarily bad some do jobs a lot better than others

  3. Kokomi is dogshit, lol. "Ayaka comp" xingqiu > Kokomi ANY day for her.
The reason people use Kokomi is because you CANT use 2 Xingqius. The moment any other AoE hydro application comes out, everyone will chuck kokomi to the side.
    LOL.

  4. I have a question: The only electro batteries are Fischl and Raiden, right? Because I want to make a compo with Childe and Beidou but I have a lvl 1 fischl and don't want to level her up. And I don't have Raiden xdddd, I've been using Electro Lumine and works just fine.

  5. I agree with the people saying they should make something to get materials for characters from Inazuma. I got my Kujou Sara as my first banner 4* and I was really happy, but I wasn't able to level her up because I didn't have the materials. I think if they gave me the materials, she'd be in my main team right now, because my team comp goes really well with her.

  6. Anyway, I know that this has nothing to do with the characters, but I still think that Liyue is a lot funnier to explore, and it's generally better looking… Mondstadt is boring. Inazuma is between the two.

  7. I will agree that inazuma characters are bad for new players, but it's not because of their niche roles it's because you can't get their ascension materials. I had a friend with a level 40 kokomi and level 40 yoimiya in their party while the rest of their team was level 70. Dunno how they're going to fix this problem but I hope that they fix it soon.

  8. Inazuma characters have been wack for me ngl. With the exception of Sayu, but merely because of Anemo commodities for exploring, but already having C1 Hu Tao with Homa made these new characters feel really weak for me. Now I got an artifact upgrade for her feather and cup (+5k HP) as well as her C3 from her rerun. I just don't feel any need of pulling these new characters that can't hit the same numbers with similar investment. I have Ayaka (C0) with Mistsplitter and it was sort of dissapointing for me to see like, 65% of my usual damage even with decent rotations.

  9. I honestly like that they are breaking the meta, also just like so many have walked away from the game there are also many many new players who don't have many of the old characters like hutao. Also most F2P don't have any constellations on 5 stars and Hutaos C1 is a big boost.

  10. Kokomi with the Raiden Shogun is not actually that bad. When Kokomi's burst is up, her skill is down and the electro coordinated attacks are hitting then it can be decent. No where near Hu Tao or Ganyu but useable. I know healing is not exactly the most relevant thing in Genshin right now but I would not be surprised if over time more difficult content released making it more relevant. If it doesn't it doesn't but if it does I for one don't mind having some healers around. You never know when something might become more useful later on. Better to have and not need then need and not have.

  11. My guess is the mihoyo, kinda regrets how overpower the earliest 4 stars are.
I notice that every "strong" 4 star character are slowly being replaced for a power creeped 5 star, basically same mechanic but stronger… razor/eula, barbara/kokomi, Noelle/Itto, sucrose/kazuha, even shogun that can apply electro more efficient than fischl. My guess is the next one to be "repleced" by a 5 star is xingqiu, probably for Ayatto.

  12. 4 star characters used to be gods when they have their constellation maxed out or at a high level but they had very little story. Now they have a lot more story but are a lot weaker and have more prominent compatibility issues miHoyo wants to do this to reduce the likelihood of getting these god tier 4 stars I mean I hope the gameplay doesn't suffer but that hasn't been the case for the now released 4 stars (Kujou was so broken her E didn't teleport her properly) so yeah things will be grim for 4 stars but hey they will have good character design and story to increase the likelihood of pulling for them. Also I have found out that Genshin Impact is unlike any other game out there both to its strengths and weakness it has a huge world like massive with a very high detail and the same time it's a chore to play when you are of higher level also I have found out that it's generally good not to hope in Genshin that way you can keep a healthy mindset. So, if you have those god tier 4 stars cherish them and have fun and at the same time if you like a character just because who they are don't feel hesistant to pull for them since the only great dps check is Abyss and with a bit more effort than the aforementioned god tier dpses you will still be able to clear it.

  13. As a new player (almost a month now), I felt this as I had to rush the story to unlock Inazuma just so I can get Sayu's ascension materials since she's the first one I pulled (C1 right away) that can heal aside from Noelle and Barbara.

  14. With how niche the current 4* characters are, you can't really experiment around with team comps, it's the same ol' same 'ol Xiangling, Benny and Xingqiu because of how broken they are. They just fit so many team comps, whereas characters like Thoma and Sara are locked behind with being able to buff only Hu Tao and electro respectively. I still pulled them though, since I really like their characters, for overworld contents, just about any half decent build characters can do the job, you don't have to have proper team comps. So I mostly use them there.

  15. Im happy over this approach, rather than the sugar-coated Thoma video (where I commented my discontent on the overall take of the video and Thoma itself). It really is a shame tho, wish I could say "maybe they'll change" (regarding 4 stars) but I highly doubt it. From now on, at least from 4 stars perspective, you either love the 5 star they are supposed to be paired with, or just bench them alongside with Aloy. Great video!

  16. I truly truly pray that they never make 4 stars like xingqiu and Bennett ever again. Those two are way too strong and versatile. Characters like them hurt the balance of the game.

  17. Thoma can make an awesome shield, which works replacing Zhonglis and adding a Pyro to get the resonance attack Bonus. Raiden, Xinquiu, Thoma and Bennet works amazing, and I guess it works even better changing your carry for a mor squishy one, thats not Pyro of course.

I want to believe that once Dendro enemies and Sumero arrive, shields are going to be Meta if life drain is the main Dendro damage dealing. But this is just speculation… Weve just witnessed how a simple change like Corrosion made Healing important in abyss….

Ive already regretted consuming my HP artifacts for leveling Thoma… and I asume Ito is going to give a headache for those who havent leveled Noelle…

  18. I like how Kokomi is getting positive vibes here, cause I must admit, I was somewhat sad I got her initially because I didn't want her and everybody talked her really bad, but she is now one of my fav supports, I really love her in my Ayaka comp and I consider myself lucky that she came home early and I regret thinking bad about her

  19. Kokomi is a very reliable healer, she "atak" and she "defen", I got her for only 1 x10 wish right after I got my Raiden (sheer damn luck). She and Raiden together with Rosaria for a tazer+freeze team carried me through the game. I also ran through a lot of coop domains with her, all I care is to slap those heal on my team mates' face and keep them alive.

  20. Honestly, Kokomi is broken af but people just slept on her because they can't do their own judgments. Meanwhile a lot of the people that trash her can not stop complaining about weekly bosses being too hard.

  21. I'm actually liking the new 4*s more than I thought I would, I think it's a fun challenge for them to do a good job filling a niche rather than being good at most things. maybe I just like underwhelming characters though, I main yoimiya, I have kokomi, and I'm also saving for albedo who I'm pretty sure is considered mediocre.
