With Fontaine, the Nation of Hydro on the horizon, one can only expect the number, variety, and types of adversaries to increase. And right before Fontaine, this video looks back at the past 3 years of the game and lists out the 10 best enemies that Hoyoverse released in Genshin so far.

  2. This is the epitome of "that guy who hears you like souls games so they recommend shit like NES Aladdin or Battletoads or Metal Slug for the arcades"

  3. Good list.

For a hypothetical AR 55 world and domain level, a proper "endgame tier," it should have a mix of higher artificial AND mechanical difficulty. Terraria's Expert Mode and that game's Calamity Mod come to mind. Here are a few ideas I have for this difficulty tier:

    > Max enemy level is 100. Their max HP can be further increased by up to 2.5x (the same multiplier as Abyss Floor 12); this has no effect on loot.

    > Many enemies are more aggressive, attacking more frequently/faster if they were too sluggish. The consecrated beasts are one of enemies omitted from this.

    > Normal Bosses drop 3-4 of their unique character ascension material and have a small chance to drop two 5☆ artifacts.

    > Weekly Bosses drop at least two 5☆ artifacts and three advanced talent materials. They are also more likely to drop Dream Solvent and/or a billet.

  4. We have all these great enemies, but in my opinion, once you slap a time limit on any of them, they instantly become garbage.
I feel like my outlook on Genshin's combat as a whole has be soured by the Spiral Abyss and events always having a time limit and me actually trying to beat the time limit. I don't like concecrated beasts because trying to kill them quickly makes me mad. I actually quite enjoy fighting them without a time limit though. But that goes for most enemies, including the wenut and ruin serpent. (Which I can guess will both make it onto the top 10 worst enemies list)

Also enemies are more fun to fight when you don't insta-kill them. After hating life trying to 36 star abyss, I have come to the conclusion that I will never pay attention to time limits ever again and in turn never care about artifacts again because all they help with is countering time limits. I still believe the most fun I had in this game was walking into Dragonspine super underleveled and trying to survive against super powerful enemies and then feeling the rush of relief after spending a long time killing a strong enemy.
It's really got me debating if I should replace my good artifacts on my characters so that I can sort of experience that feeling of being underpowered again.
(I should really play Elden Ring shouldn't I?)

  5. Its not that the consecrated beast are bad enemies in concept and in execution they work but the issue is these aren't designed to play of each so the become just straight ass to fight when theirs more than one

I whole hardly agree that the enemies are fun to fight but in pairs u can see how they are designed to fought sperate as they have giant aoes big tells on dmg and move alot and have tons of health

In groups these enemies have too many active frames making it impossible to dodge but in pairs just straight up aggression doesn't work as it becomes impossible to track them

in groups of same beast they just deal with straight dmg but play off each well but groups of different beast these enemies dont play off each and the just do their own thing which makes it hard to come up with REAL strategy that is just dmg until they die

These enemies dont group up with cc abilities and are the only enemies in the game that can move character while ult which feels like shit

If they come back into abyss I would like to see just one beast or two of same type as the aggression will actually have good balance hard but not mind numming

  6. I was so ready to hate this vid, but the only reason for that was Concentrated beasts. I assumed that they wouldnt be here, given all the complaining about them in abyss I see. Well, I'm very happy to be proven wrong. They are indeed the best enemies. Defensive units are actually needed when fighting them, which is how it's supposed to be.

  7. I think the reason why people hate the conscreated beast so much because when they were in the abyss they were so tanky it just feels so long to finnaly kill them the aggressive nature of how they attack is cool but it took so long to kill them

  8. Ngl, preach. I actually really enjoyed the concencrated beasts and lecters/heralds too because they actually pose a threat instead of being another annoying stall boss or big dumb target dummy. I also like that the pyro and cryo lecters make circles on the ground to show you where they're going to attack so it forces you to dash out of it. I really like magu kenki too. Especially when I first encountered him in the spiral abyss during the early inazuma patches because his attacks are actually punishing if i did not dodge.

I completely agree with what you said about enemies needing to be actually threatening. Whenever I see the lecters/heralds and concencrated beasts in the abyss cycle, I actually had to stop and think about how I should optimize my teams to make my clears easier instead of just blindly running international one half, hyperbloom another half like I do for most abyss cycles. And I genuinely appreciate being able to play aggravate and thoma burgeon on the 3.7 cycle because after the first few attempts, I realize, benette was the problem that was getting me one shotted. I really like enemies that encourages the players to try out different comps and different units as a day one player, because thus far, I have never switched out international for any of my abyss cycles except 3.7 (not that it doesn't work, it does, but not playing a benette comp on that side makes the concencrated beast alot less frustrating because it stops the one shotting mechanics from being vaped).

And honestly, I would really like to see more enemy designs from genshin that encourages creative solutions and unique counter mechanics whilst still being decently punishing if you get hit.

  9. You have cultured picks for enemies. I agree Heralds, Lectors, and Consecrated Beasts are some of the best designed enemies in the game. For me 3.7 Spiral Abyss was by far the best Spiral Abyss ever. Top floor was a dps check that let you bring anything you want. Bottom floor was an elemental application check rather than a dps check which meant some crappy dps teams were able to breeze through those were meta teams struggled.

Those enemies are also not just punching bags but react to what you do and you have to actually dodge them. They are also not immune to status effects but at the same time are not vulnerable to everything making them an enemy that requires some strategy.

  10. I humbly disagree with almost all your choices but I can tell that’s just because I still suck so much at this game after two years and I still struggle against enemies I really shouldn’t be struggling with. I am sure it’s because I still don’t have a single well built character since I just don’t understand artifacts no matter how hard I try and on top of that I hate domains with a passion so I don’t farm artifacts much to begin with. But lots of these enemies you wish we have more of I wish would just disappear. I doubt I’ll every be good at this game and I hate how difficult it still is. I wish I could do big damage but with how bad the artifact system is I know that’ll never happen for me.

  11. I do agree that consecrated beasts are the best challenging enemies and having a really threatening movesets and damage, but they do make my life harder to finish my abyss runs and i hate them for that and im glad they are finally gone from fl12

  12. I actually dislike how aggressive the consecrated beasts are. Their attacks are so frequent and not clearly choreographed, so instead of learning to dodge them, I just brute force it with shielding and/or healing. I don't think I am alone in saying this lol.

Maguu Kenki and Raiden attack patterns, on the other hand, are well-choreographed enough and random enough imo. Their attacks are satisfying to dodge, and their different phases encourage modifications to your usual rotation in order not to waste bursts. Definitely my favourites.

  13. The thing I hate with consecrated beasts are their abnormally large hitboxes. If I use Al-haitham the wrong way, I can get stuck on TOP of the enemies (not between them) while both of the beasts stay near me, and I cant even move or attack for >5 seconds. It's okay rhat they're aggressive and can kill you, but I just have that one problem.

  14. The consecrated beast are enemies that I absolutely hate to fight under a time limit, like Abyss' time limit, bc of how tanky they are and the evasiveness they have at times. Taking away the clock issue, everything works for a thrilling fight with them

  15. the issue i think is less the enemies and their difficulty, at least the harder ones, and more how hyv treats them in spiral abyss. i wouldn't hate the beasts so much if i didn't have to fight the same two waves for almost two weeks for just the chance to get to the second half of the chamber, only to run out of time for 50 primos. and when it comes to the heralds and lectors, rarely does it matter how smart i play with the characters i have, it takes me hours and days of getting the right buffs and just trying and trying and trying for the rng to finally me in my favor, again, only for the second half to fuck me over by not having the rng and slowing me by being two seconds off. if hyv didn't just throw these things willy nilly as a time sink, than i wouldn't care as much as i do, or just left the rewards for easier chambers then give the harder content for those that want to to just have fun with, than it wouldn't be that much of a problem.
tldr, it's less the enemies, it's how hyv treats them in abyss

  16. See the issue with enemies is that they're not hard enough for old players but to us newer players we simply put don't have enough good stats (artifacts) to kill them, like I genuinely can't do what you do because your attacks are like 20× more powerful than mine, we struggle out here T.T
Genshin should add an option to control the difficulty of the enemies, less like world level but more like better AI and faster attacka etc

  17. I personally dont like the low damage Abyss Lectors do. All they do is scream…The Cryo Abyss heralds just make me hate playing normal attackers with the cryo debuff which is something I like. Still only the Hydro+Cryo combo posed a challenge so far…hoping for more creative ways Hoyo will use to make a fun encounter with them.

Consecrated beasts are perfect, I feel threatened by them and thus I will try to exterminate them like a worthy foe who isnt just mildly threatening. if you cant kill them just Ayaya freeze them. still can be cheesed.

Genshin enemies make Disney lakeys look competent tbh.

  18. Counterpoint to Abyss Dudes being well designed:
    1. They make your character builds irrelevant the moment their shields emerge. It might be "good" in prolonging the fight, but that's only patching up the issue that was caused by huge power disparity that developers allowed to exist in the game (that's hugely based on artifact rng lol)
    2. Their shields invalidate a lot of character mechanics that work of you hitting the enemy, like Albedo's skill proc for example. They wouldn't be as annoying if hitting their shields dealt them symbolic 1 damage so at least your characters could still work properly.

  19. Abyssal lectors are trash is you play physical comps. Elemental shields in general are bad unless you play dendro comps, since no current elemental shields immune dendro damage.
If you play Dendro Lectors are good design, if you don't – Eat shit.
I would rather see enemies with 150mil hp (WL scaling) rather than enemies that makes half your built roster useless.
Mixing and matching character and elements is a heart of genshin's combat system, but in current system you can have 7 sec fight with optimized comp and 7 min fight vs flying/teleporting enemies playing melee comp with infinite downtime purely arbitrarily, not being difficult rather being annoying and infuriating since they have 100% uptime on you whilst you have 5 seconds a minute to hit them.

  20. I do really wish there were more enemies like the Consecrated Beasts or Abyss Heralds/Lectors. Enemies that act as mini bosses.

I would love if Genshin went the route of "fewer, but stronger enemies that drop more rewards" than "an army of weak enemies that drop one level one mat each" 🙁
