Spells only is back yet again, and Baizhu’s banner is about to end. However, even though Baizhu is a catalyst character, I make a decision regarding our pulls that I hopefully won’t regret later

This is inspired by my own Swords Only playthrough we currently have running on the channel. That account is at a point where we just need to farm domains to further build characters, so with plenty of catalyst-wielding characters on the horizon, it’s time to begin this journey as well.

  1. I'm seeing a lot of people claiming that my decision of who to pull or not pull for on MY account is "so frustrating" and "stupid". So allow me to explain my reasoning even more in depth so maybe you understand better.

    My plan is to have a hyperbloom team (Nahida, Yae Miko, Kokomi, Mona/Lisa) and then a second team using Heizou, Klee, Yanfei, Barbara. (Assuming a new catalyst characters doesn't come out who fills one of those roles better).

    On the hyperbloom side, Nahida provides amazing dendro application, and Yae Miko obviously introduces the electro we need. That means we just need hydro. Koko would be the best option for this, as she's the catalyst character with the longest on-field skill that applies hydro. We then will swap between our hydro and electro characters to keep proccing the hyperbloom. If I ran Baizhu on this team, it wouldn't add any value to the desired hyperbloom, since we already have Nahida for the dendro application, and we'd have Kokomi if we needed heals.

    That brings us to the other team. As stated int he video, dendro and anemo do not react together, so the best we could do with a Baizhu there is a burn comp, but I can't say it's my favorite reaction. Plus if we are using Heizou, then Barbara actually pairs nicely as we can get some hydro application as we run around hitting enemies, thus allowing us to swirl.

    So in both teams, I don't see myself needing to use Baizhu. It doesn't have to do with "meta" or "only liking female characters" or any other accusation I've seen tossed around in the comments. If anything, another big factor is that he would require me to once again complete Nahida's first and second story quests again. Not to say I never will, but since I'm juggling 3 accounts, it's not something I'm eager to undertake.

    Was I ever a huge fan of Baizhu's design? No, not really. But if I felt he could fit into one of our planned teams, I 100% would have pulled for him. I also don't see the need to pull just to "make a video out of it". I don't play on all my accounts every day, so building up another primo supply for future pulls is no easy task.

    And at the end of the day, it is MY account. If you like Baizhu, pull for him on your account. I do what I feel will be best for me and my account(s), and I would rather save my primogems for a guaranteed Kokomi when she gets a rerun.

    So yeah. But at least our Barbara is usable now 🙂

  2. I'm the devil on your shoulder telling to wait for Kokomi because she's SO good and amazing hyperbloom driver (and i don't like baizhu at all but i won't bash him here)

  4. i main kokomi and i usually comment on ur spells vid…….. u basically have unli heal with prototype amber (i run an all catalyst team) so its a good thing u got that 4s drop for crafting weapons. 30k hp on clam have decent damage too. i hope u get her
