  1. Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed this fan made city theme of Snezhnaya! I just realised myself that I never tried making a city theme so here it is!

The most important things I want to convey in this city theme is the “cold” atmosphere but also organic. The intro of the track featured only the lonely piano accompanied by a blizzard wind sfx in the background. I wanted to promote the feeling of being ‘alienated’ since you technically have just arrived to the main headquarters of the Fatui, an organisation in which we consider as enemies.

In 0:59 the time signature changed from 4/4 to 3/4. The main reason why I changed the time signature was to give the track a sense of romantic. The clarinet playing right after the time signature change gave a little hint of the Fatui motif. It doesn’t sound very similar to the Fatui motif we know but the presence of dissonances and the the usage of woodwinds was meant to resemble the Fatui motif subtly. Other than that, the string textures (which you can hear in the background) sounded thin and fragile which was meant to resemble the feeling of ice (I’m quite sure Snezhnaya’s city will be snowing haha.)

Then we move on the “climax” part. I made a some kind of call and response between the strings and the clarinet to spice things up and with hopes of making it sound beautiful. The first melody you heard from the strings is not a part of the Snezhnaya’s original soundtrack. It’s something I made myself, but there is a purpose to this section. I made that melody to be a buildup to the main star which is the second melody introduced right after it. The Snezhnaya motif which you can also hear in the intro played by the piano. The introduction of snare marches in the background as well as the choirs were to highlight the military side of Snezhnaya.

The next sections were there to balance out the energy of the track. From the “climax” part then the next section has a lower energy but still adopt several elements from the previous sections (such as the col legno strings and glockenspiel.) These sections were also meant to be a sign that the track is approaching its end.

Overall, that was my thought process and the things I want to convey in this track. I hope you enjoyed the fan made theme and I also hope that what I wrote made sense hahah. Last but not least, as always, I hope you have an absolutely good day everyone! Take care!

  2. This honestly might be my favourite piece of yours, you've done such a brilliant job at creating an extremely oppressive and almost, I don't know, lifeless? atmosphere, as in you've really captured what it must feel like for the average Snezhnayan citizen, to have every aspect of your livelihood in the palm of the hand of (well intentioned) dictators like the Fatui. Well done.

  3. I'm imagining this as like the music that plays when we first enter the city and see how oppressive it is. Like policemen everywhere and all, with the large guns that the Pyro gunners have.

  4. I can totally imagine walking down a cold, lifeless night, through a street filled with older siberian styled wooden huts, with the Zapolyarny Palace looming over in the far distance with a greater city area surrounding it (us being in a nearby village instead), barely a soul outside due to the harsh conditions. Incredible work once again!

  5. Wow! Another great piece! You know from past videos how I feel about the fatui theme/motif, however, this time I’m actually glad it did NOT come back for this one.

Yes yes the fatui are from shneznaya, but that doesn’t mean that all of shneznaya ARE fatui. They are an organization. So hearing this piece and just imagining the weather, and scenery, was perfect!

  6. As a person living in Russia, I can say that you got into this mood of a cold, alienated country very well. Thank you for the good work. The soundtrack is very similar to the vibes of the Dragon Ridge, although probably an example was taken from there. The music is as cold, light, like a cryo crystal fly. It dances even in the bitterest frost. And just touch it and it will fly into the sky. And only the gusts of cold wind will stay with you..❄
Hahah, I hope I translated my thoughts into English correctly.

  7. The icy vibe is there, the lonely vibe as well is there(so sorry cryo people), overall phenomenal! I am gonna try to guess that it had some inspiration from the main Belobog City district. Great as always my dude!

May ~the Northern Parliament~ Snezhnaya stand firm amidst the cold and brutality.

  8. This is absolutely majestic. It really has this Russian waltz kind of touch, very empowering, yet there is this feeling of dread and hollowness, almost as if there is barely any life, just sheer cold
I really wonder how Snezhnaya is going to be 🙂 This piece is very accurate to what I imagine it's like

And it's the kind of Russian culture representation that I find beautiful!

  9. "I'm standing in the middle of the street, in an icy city. The ice cracks and the wind howls. In the sky, distant stars sparkle with cold light, like unattainable eternal dreams … Then a terrible blizzard begins and I seem to be buried under a layer of such cold snow and ice that my ardent soul and hot tears cannot melt it" – this is what I feel when listening to this beautiful track. Thank you for the great work, maestro.

  12. Reminds me of melancholic music from FF IX.
Good job. I expect from Snezhnaya melancholic classic and epic music.
That composition lived up to my expectation. 👍

  13. Our mother Tsaritsa. Her wide frigid waters mirroring the very soul of Snezhnaya itself. We are the people’s militia. We are Snezhnaya’s new army. It is our duty to defeat the Harbingers who have oppressed the common people for so long. Tartaglia described the fighting that had gone before. Three years of spilled Snezhnayan blood. We owe it to our dead comrades to take back this town.

I fear the winter coming. A revolutionary consciousness is not sufficient to maintain a battle worthy army- when the feet are frozen in their boots. As we approach the town, I am utterly dejected by the many graves we pass. They are Snezhnayan dead. Dead by our own hands. Is it fratricide that we do here? It is a relief to everyone that supplies and weapons have arrived from Zapolyarny. We know well that Tartaglia is not seen favorably in the Fatui.

  14. Не знаю, скорее бы подошло не к тематике самого города а к открытому миру. В самом городе лучше было бы добавить славянского калорита.

  15. Not going to lie, this sounds VERY PROFESSIONAL and very much to the style of Genshin Impact…although I feel the choir is a little extra. No matter the town, most town themes are very simple and have their own motifs..only in events like Lantern Rite do they go all out on town theme renditions. But this I can see almost in a teaser trailer for Snezhnaya.

  16. As a slav this hits the soul. Yes Slovenia isn't like Russia. But when you think about it. All of us Slavs suffer cold and bitter winters, metaphorically or literally. This theme reminds me of a cold and bitter nation. Exiled from the rest of the world. The unforgiving yet beautiful nation
