Glad you noticed the tree motive! Genshin's main inspiration comes from Zoroastrianism, which resolves around the Tree of Life, a giant tree that connects the whole world – very similar to Yggdrasil from Norse mythology (the name Irminsul is also taken from it). It's probably the most important part in Genshin's worldbuilding, and there are many theories about the Teyvat world structure out there. I highly recommend checking out some theory videos from people like IslandXD or Ashikai, after you're more into the story and lore of the game, because the further you are, the more complicated and interesting everything gets.

Yeah the story picks up after Monstandt but since they're introducing Mika then another Monstandt based story will come into the near future. I'm also saying this because Monstandt is only the prologue of the game so they're only starting the story and introducing the world to us so there's gonna a point in the game where we will go back to Monstandt for another Archon quest or another event.
I also saw on twitter that Monstandt's land that's accessible to the players is only 60% so there's gonna be more places to explore in Monstandt, for example the rumored "dandelion sea", the port and the theory that something is under Monstandt city.
