  1. Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed my fan-made boss theme of Pantalone! This was quite challenging as I don’t know much yet about his character. I’ve done my research by reading his lore etc. and this is what I came up with! There’s a backstory to this theme, so feel free to read and know my thought process behind it! (Please do note that my imagination is not lore accurate, some are made up. I hope you understand.)

So we start off the theme with a classic 3/4 waltz and coin sounds falling here and there to point out his lavishness. We all know that he’s rich from the Goth Grand hotel story in Mondstadt (He booked the entire hotel for Fatui exclusive only in which he paid for the entire intended duration upfront with an "unbelievably generous" offer. Hence, the coin sounds and the waltz. Now as for the his position in Snezhnaya, he is in charge of Snezhnaya’s economic policies. Now that we know his position and past actions, this is where I created my own imagination.

I imagined if we ever fight him, it will be in Snezhnaya. A country in which he has an agenda of (making Snezhnaya the "heart that pumps money around the world.”) I imagined the Fatui using him mainly for business transaction and managing the funds of the Fatui organisation, he might not be great at fighting, but his mind and ambition is a valuable asset for the Fatuis.

Now, let’s dive deeper into the composition and the story I want to convey through the theme. Like I mentioned before, I imagined us fighting him in Snezhnaya and that is why I used a Glockenspiel in the intro to give a cold vibe and setting the overall mood of the theme. There’s a simple motif playing which is meant to be Pantalone’s theme, it’s cheeky, lavish but with a little bit sense of danger in it. In 0:34, the composition changed its energy to become more dangerous and with the choirs in the background singing “PA TA RO NE” (The software I have can only use certain syllables so apologies for that!) was meant to catch our attention and immediately realise that we are facing Pantalone in front of our eyes. The aggressive tone of the brass indicates his anger towards us since we have infiltrated his country, ruining all his ambitions and plans for Snezhnaya.

In 0:52 we can clearly hear the Fatui motif playing in the back with spiccatto strings. I do not want to make it apparent at first to give out the feeling of uncertainty for us, the traveller. Making us think “I heard this brass line before, is he a harbinger? Are we actually facing a harbinger?” Then in 1:10 is when I make the Fatui motif very apparent, sending chills to the players, finally realising that we are actually facing one of the Fatui Harbingers in their own turf. However, we immediately realised.. His attacks are not as articulated compared to the previous harbingers we’ve faced (Tartaglia, Signora, Scaramouche etc.) symbolised by the inconsistent rhythm of the drums. His attacks are by no means weak, they’re strong, as expected from a Harbinger. But it’s very noticeable that Pantalone doesn’t have the ability to control his emotions during a fight. We’re facing off a man who is willing to fight to defend his ambitions and country, no matter the cost.

At 1:28, we can clearly hear the theme changes and introduces a mellow melody sung by the choirs. This is when we got a good look on his facial expressions while he’s dashing towards us trying his best to land a significant damage to us. His eyes were red, full of tears and anger.. It’s a sight you don’t want to see in a battle let alone a duel. Pantalone’s expression is full of desperation and hatred, and at some point, you can relate fully to what he felt. You would also challenge anyone who tried to break your ambitions, no matter the risks. You empathise with Pantalone, you understand his feelings so much that your moves are getting heavier each second goes by, you don’t want to fight this man. After all, he’s just a person who is trying to defend his ambitions and country.

At 2:04, the energy of the track slows down, both us and Pantalone are trying to catch our breath. We tried to talk it out with him and call the duel off, but his mind has been consumed by hatred that he won’t listen a single word coming from our mouth. At 2:20, Pantalone had enough. He gathered all the remaining energy his body has and launches a strong attack towards us, he’s becoming more and more desperate in the fight supported by the 4 chord progression instead of a 2 chord progression that we heard before in the Fatui motif. In 2:40 Pantalone starting to lose his stand and felt weaker as time goes by, he felt the energy of the traveller starting to overpower him and with the introduction of the coins in this part made Pantalone think to himself “heh, I’m just a business man after all. I do not excel in combat but I will do anything for Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa.. I hope I do not disappoint you, Your Majesty”. As the drums left in 2:58, Pantalone has been defeated, his weapon was shattered to pieces, sitting there on his knees helplessly waiting for you to deliver the final blow. You were reluctant at first, but you can’t take it any longer.. we must end the suffering of this man. You delivered the final blow in 3:16 and the last piano note that played just after the theme ended symbolised Pantalone’s last breath.

So that is all for my imagination and thought process! I love his character so much and I apologise if you have a different imagination to mine but I hope you are still entertained with the theme and the little backstory I created. Once again, please do note that this is all my imagination, there’s a big chance of him not even close to what I imagined in game or from the official lore, but hey! That’s the point of fan-made themes, it’s not supposed to have 100% similarities to the official lore, just inspirations etc. So I hope you understand! Anyways, it was a lot of fun imagining the story behind this theme and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do! Have a good day everyone!

  2. Pantalone is pretty awesome. But i feel like he wouldnt be to big of a threat to the traveler since he's only number 9. Besides we have just defeated the 6th harbinger and we are only gonna get stronger from here. Still, great music though

  3. God I love it everytime! It literally sends shivers down my spine even though the production itself is so fire! Love elements like the occasional shaking of coins (I think), your use of that sliding sub bass, Mmm. And of course, how you use the orchestra, choir and those bombastic drums! Bravo! As always!

  5. A new week-end, a new song 🙂 thank you very much for your huge work ! This theme fit very well with Pantalone ! Amazing work (even if for the moment Arlecchino stays my fav ❤️‍🔥)
I was wondering, do you think make a battle theme for the doctor ? You did already one but its more like an Introduction music, so I was wondering. Can't wait to see !

  6. I absolutely LOVE this one, you can really feel the danger of pantalone but not like the other harbinger who sound like a physical danger, with this you understand that he can do way more than that, he could stop your journey just by his status.

Idk if I explained my feeling very well but it’s an amazing ost !

  7. Farabi, this is both an amazing work of imagination and music production! I think the scenario you came up with (in your pinned comment) is very cool and you really expanded on the little info there is about him at the moment.

I absolutely love the coin sounds! I don't know if its tambourines or actual coins but its a really good representation of how rich he is and his role in the Fatui. The waltz pace with strings makes me think of luxury, too.

Listening to your fantheme while reading the scenario was an amazing experience that really made me feel for Pantalone. Great job as always Farabi!

  8. As another music artist who has a love for Russian classical music and orchestra in general, I am astounded again and again by your work. At times, it’s hard to believe these aren’t the actual boss themes! The attention to detail you put into every song, from the use of lore to the combination of Genshin’s very specific style and your own little twists – it never fails to prove how passionate you are about what you make, and that’s something I can seriously relate to.

I am in love with the music we have in-game for the Fatui so far, it is by far my favorite little group of songs in the Genshin OST (maybe even of all time). It’s unfortunate that it gets so overshadowed by regional music, so seeing someone else who is just as passionate as I am is really exciting! I absolutely adore your work, man, and I can’t wait to see what else you’ll come up with in the future.

  9. Question Fabari, will you do some fan made themes for the Tsaritsa and the other archons? (As well as other potential bosses out there?) I'd really like to see your take on them. Namely the Pyro and Hydro Archons, I believe that besides the Tsaritsa, we may end up fighting another archon like we did with Ei in the struggle to fix their nations issues. Of course, finish up with the other harbingers first, Pulcinella remains the only one left to do. Do you think that is something you'd be interested in doing?

  10. If we technically have defeated most dangerous harbingers like Siniora and Scaramouche I can imagine that we will face trio of low ranks harbingers(pantalone, arlechino and marionette) in next boss fight, and this soundtrack would be perfect for this theoretical battle!

  11. You did it again!!! You mad lad! You already know how I feel about the fatui motif. I LIVE for 0:521:28. I BLAST that through my speakers. Also the idea of the coin/mora in the beginning was such a brilliant idea. You just DONT MISS.

  12. corporal arrogance, This beggar turned banker has but one desire, to control the flow of money and turn Snezhayna into the beating heart from which all wealth flows. Pantalone will do what ever it takes to see this dream realized, regardless of how many are hurt or killed for it. He will make the world that once looked down upon him tremble at his feet, as he finally gets what he deserves and earn what is rightfully his.

  13. Scaramouche: I am a prototype homunculus created by a god
Signora: I am a graduate from Sumeru Academy who managed to turn myself into a pyro elemental being for 500 years
Childe: I was trained by a mysterious woman from the Abyss and acquired a highly dangerous power
Dottore: I am a scientist from Sumeru who created different segments of myself
Pierro: I came from an ancient nation that was destroyed by the gods

    Pantalone: MONEY

I mean, granted, we don't really know anything about the other Harbingers yet ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  14. From the start alone i feel threatened, especially with the sound staging and the chain sounds to the left and the right, as if to tell that the danger is present no matter where you try to go! The choirs midway through sound great as well, but that kick-in of sounds at around 2:22 made chills run down my body! Overall amazing work as always, can't wait to hear more from you!

  15. I'd just like to say i will most likely leave a very big comment, so if you dont feel like reading it, dont; i just want to make it clear how much of a masterpiece this is. As a short version of what i might say, this Theme has so much meaning when you think of Pantalone, the song makes you feel Pantalone's whole personality just by some small details.

The fancy music at the start combined with the coin noises is something you can expect coming from Pantalone's theme, yet it's so surprising to actually see it. It slowly builds up the tension in which you truly see the danger. The fancy music slowly, but noticeably, turning into a familiar tune; in game, we have little to none harbinger lore, yet when that specific motif is heard we can truly remember that our dear Pantalone is a harbinger. Just like Dottore and Sandrone, Pantalone gives off arrogance, but in a very different way. Pantalone's arrogance is more of a pitying arrogance, how he knows that he does not need to physically hurt an enemy when his status is enough to do the job. He is a rich man, after all. The way it sounds like his money is an important part of his character is a good thing in here, the way the theme portrays how his money made him so dangerous and unsettling is perfect.

And then, the danger finally hits you. An enemy may underestimate the Regrator, thinking that he is just another arrogant, rich man from the Fatui. But when somebody finally notices Pantalone's dangers, it may be too late. The theme shows that even when you feel like in immediate danger, face to face with the Regrator, what he does cares is his money, his status. Even if not face to face, the Regrator is a dangerous man. If we, in game, never end up physically fighting him, he surely will use his status to destroy the other character's sanity.

We are not certain at the start that what we would be facing was a harbinger, but as the theme continues, we can see all the elements of a harbinger; The familiar brass line, sudden tension from realization, sharp arrogance in all shapes.

However, i do disagree with something you wrote in your own comments in certain parts. Pantalone, to me, is a very controlled and calcullated man. The inconsistent rhythm of the drums could also symbolize Pantalone's anger. While i do think he is a controlled man during fights, a fight with the traveler could make him unreasonably crazy. Seeing that his status, influence, and money could not do anything to this outlander who simply wants justice might make Pantalone abnormally mad. Somebody who does not care for his influence WILL make him angry as he never was before.

Maybe he cares about Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa. Maybe he does believe in her objectives. But his are more important. He wants more and more power, more and more money. He wants to be feared, he wants to be respected. So he will kill the traveler and anyone who gets in his way. He knows that Her Majesty will bring him power, he would burn the whole world for that. He wants to be seen as the good guy, so when he really turns out to be the evil, egotistical capitalist that he is, he will strike fear.

At 2:20, Pantalone had enough of his ''merciful harbinger'' mask. In a fight, he attacks in an uncoordinated way, he does not care that he could die without his plans. The traveler disrespected his authority, his power, and he will not stand that; killing the man will be the only way of protecting the nations from this power-hungry bastard. Hurt and insane, the Regrator dies in this fight as the final blow is received (3:16), and he is killed without regret. The Regrator's curses die with him, as he is defeated with that final blow.

But dont think this is the end. Pantalone may have died, but a rich man's doings never die with him.
