  1. Obviously, this was recorded before I played this on the stream. Pretty interesting what I was thinking about pre playing it. I wasn't too too far off. Especially when thinking about those somber notes. Lots of mystery, discovery, and sadness. A bygone era. When I say "That's no exception for this piece" I meant to say this piece also uses full orchestra and is beautiful like the other pieces I've heard.

    K thanks bye 😉

  2. Your knowlegde of music is absolutely amazing! I've watched most of your genshin videos and your always right about the feeling behind the music. It is mindblowing how much you can know by just listening.

  3. The Stormterror's Lair OSTs, especially "Forlorn Child of Archaic Winds" make me feel like crying because it perfectly portrays Dvalin's sadness and loneliness.

  4. genshin really has a lot of great musical value, the composer really knows his stuff… btw, if between those reactions I recommend the yu-gi-oh! master duel BGM #4 (all 3 parts), never expected having such an intense theme on a card game XD

Also, you mentioned the final fantasy vibes this song gave you, then you should also check the wishing menu theme

  5. Dvalin's Nest is my refuge.
When I have done everything I want to do in Genshin and even in real life, I sometimes open my pc, open up genshin and I just go walking around Dvalin's Nest while listening to this melancholic song.
Makes me remember horrible things I kept remembering up until now. I guess the past never really let me go rest in peace.

  6. Lore trivia: the place this music plays at is also known by other names: Old Mondstadt and Decarabian's Tower. This is the place where Venti was born and where he ascended to become the God of Freedom.

Before he became the anemo archon, Mondstadt was ruled over by a different God named Decarabian, the Tyrant, god of Storms. Decarabian ruled over Mondstadt with an iron fist and created a perpetual cyclone to keep people in. It is in the midst of this when Barbatos was born and joined the people in their plight for freedom.

Aside from that Venti's personal story quest will shed more light on the lore and prepare tissues for your tears.

  7. You should also listen to Dvalin’s battle themes, “Riders of the Wind, Onward” and “Caelestinum Finale Termini.” The latter broke me the first time I listened to it independently.

  8. I stumbled on this area totally by accident, before I was able to proceed deeper inside. Even without knowing the story up to that point, it felt like a lullaby for the dearly departed, like falling tears that say, "I'm sorry. You deserved so much better and I wasn't able to give it to you."

I have a polarizing relationship with orchestral music. I've seen a full, 100-instrument orchestra used as a shorthand for 'HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTTS, THIS IS THE MOST EPIC THING EVER' so often that it feels really token to me, but stripped-down compositions like this that really let a single, contemplative instrument breathe — it's next-level. Instead of trying to be the biggest, most complex version of everything, it commits to being one thing: a precision strike to the heart. The woodwind gets its chance to mourn; then the piano, then the voice.

  9. I can listen to this theme all day, it's not intrusive it kinda takes your soul in a transe and steals it away. To have this quality of music in a free mobile game is unbelievable to me. I came into genshin for the action combat and stayed for the music. Best part of new content is always the music and it never disappoints.

  10. Also Spoilers…

This is where Venti lost his friend over a millenia ago. Prior to, Venti was a formless wisp and he befriended a bard one day. His friend later led a successful uprising against the previous ruler Decabarian. The bard was fatally wounded and in his death, Venti took on the bard's appearance. The song reflects his grief over that loss, and you can find a grave marked on the outskirts of Stormterror's lair, which I'd suspect to be where Venti's friend was buried. This bit of backstory is why he's a depressed alcoholic.

  13. The exact same thing came to my mind, it sounds so much like the FFVII overworld theme at the beginning and later on it reminds me of the Satorl Masrh (Night) music from the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

  14. When I heard this piece I can also feel Dvalin's sadness 😢
I hope you can try dragon spine's ost too. If you can, try the live performance one with all the choir and stuff, titled "Tales From The Snow Mountain". I think you might like it as well. 🗻

  15. I love stormterror music it does move some feelings I would also suggest listening to The Sealed Harbor for me this is one of the best world themes in the game or Unwavering march but the 1st one is more peaceful

  16. Seeing you this moved made me tear up a little, too. Also, I gotta watch your stream of this story part, love to see you discovering these story bits.

    Edit:
I sometimes just stand still in the game and listen to the music, when a piece that I really like comes on.

  17. Your eyes looked like you felt sentimental about this piece. I'd say I relate. The Stormterror location is one of the most depressing places in the game, where theme never changes and you feel so lonely here.

  18. i know the lore behind the song, but listening to it just feels like heartbreak, when sorrow makes you soft and vulnerable for the world. when you don't have the strength to pretend you're not sad, you know? and you ease yourself into it, you find comfort in that sorrow as you have to when you go through these things.
but it's just my opinion, i don't know much about music haha
