All these character developments for the hilichurls just hit different now that we know where they came from. And it just makes me feel even worse about fighting them cause they actually create these bonds and grow and evolve
1:11 I don't think the Hilichurls merged to become a Lawachurl. Hilichurls can grow up into Lawachurls if they become strong enough. So either one of them grew up into a Lawachurl and scared off or killed the other two, or an existing Lawachurl turfed them out of their spot.

I think GAA will be a central piece for story-telling until we reach Khaenri'ah. I won't be surprised if Sumeru's last version update will also be wrapped by GAA event.

One thing's for sure. Level designers are also required to make use of their ground as storytelling. Unlike some games who just place random objects or enemies on certain place just to prove QoL in the design. Commendable feat

If I recall it's not "evolution" as much as age. Hilichurls are likely teens/young adults, Mitachurls are fully grown, Lawachurls are just really strong Mitachurls, and Samachurls are too old to lead so they use spells.
So some of the hilichurls didn't evolved, or that they are at very young age in 1.6
I was playing during 1.6 but my memory is NOT that good lol

It's so sad how Khaenri'ans are still trying to grow and interact civilly with each other despite the curse eroding them to their bitter end 🙁
in 1.6, the two hilichurls looks like they were young that time, and then at 2.8, they look like they grown up..

After finding out that the hilichurls were cursed citizens of Khaenri'ah, I've stopped attacking them unless needed to finish a mission. These examples are just reinforcing that for me

Something fun to share as well is there's two big slimes on Minacious isle aka mona island , you can find them after you telport there go to the right and you will find them , kinda reminds me of how diluc and kaeya was due to the fact the cryo slime is on the water and the pyro one is on the land lol

If hilichurls truly can turn into mitachurls and then lawachurls, it would suggest that all hilichurls are children, who grow into adults who could possibly acquire elemental powers later on
As all hilichurls are people from kaenriah with a curse on them
this is why im not killing a single hilichurl on the islands
