You know what I thought of. If what some people are saying is true and it WOULDNT come to global because then theyβd lose too much money
That would mean that china would no longer be their primary market. Meaning that they would start to cater more towards what the western audience wants vs what china wants.
Of course this is all speculative, but itβs interesting to think of what direction they money will flow because thatβs what matters at the end of the day
Does this mean abyss will massively affected? Cause you know.. Some people spend just to beat it…
I think free login bonus is different than daily commissions. Logging in Genshin doesnβt do much anyway.
When i first got into genshin i was shocked that 100 euros doesnt even guarantee you a character of your choice, that sounds so fucked up to me.
Hoyo isn't publicly traded they were thinking of doing it but genshin saved them with the money that it generated
If there would be a shop to current banners would be amazing whales could just buy C6 R5 and small spenders and F2P depending on 4 stars would probably be better with gamba if it would be equivalent in value
Reasonable rates just look at weapon banner that will be affected for sure
About event weapons there probably would be shop for past event weapons but idk if that would clarify for it because you can do the event in like 1-2 days while having like 2 weeks for it
Just event rewards in general will be interesting what will happen to them
Daily logins for BP maybe you can hold few days worth of daily missions something would need to change because doing 28 daily missions in one day isn't feasible (1 week worth) or spending 1050 resin
I would definitely buy festering desire and cinnabar spindel if there was option to buy them
And if it would only come to CN players only then there would be frickin WW3
Welkin they could just implement that it would go to mail box with 30d expirity
Open world peace!!! Black Dessert i am comming back!!!
i mean, i can only see this as a win, mostly, the only thing is the login thing might change way more than we think, but just compensate on dailies and that is it
I am kind of surprised that you never gave your thoughts on whether the game would suffer in quality if/when these regulations go through. With less money coming in monthly will we see fewer events, fewer patches, smaller regions, the end of once a year regions, more cut-and-paste design, cheaper voice talent, less thorough QA, etc…
Direct purchase actually already present in Genshin. We have Starglitter (or something) that we can use to get certain 4 star that is currently available in shop. If they choose to expand on this, I think they will add a standard/rerun 5 stars to the shop so in theory everyone got a guaranteed chance to get a character at some point. In other games, they have something like '5 star selector ticket' that you can buy to get any 5 star of your choosing.
they will probably apply this only on china. they're already applying different policies inside and outside their frontiers on most things, why would it changes here, especialy if they lose outlanders money with it…
China did that rule for HoYo only for the players who are from China. Like imagine if they do that to all Genshin Impact players from all over the world? HoYo will lose A BIG from doing that, and remember what the players did to Hoyo just for giving them only 20 pulls as the rewards of the Anniversary Rewards? Yesβ¦
XD you are misinforming people. Hoyo has moved more of their stuff to Singapore . They would por avly have a china server within the Asian server
I can't wait man.
Yea the netherlands already requires you to actually get a permit for gacha games (something colourful stage didnt). I dont think theyβll change the top up for cn only as thatβd give us an advantage and encourage cn players to use a vpn which china rlly doesnβt want.
If this all comes into fruition, the mihoyo circlejerkers that argued to me that "Genshin's system is not predatory and greedy at all!" will realize themselves how wrong they are.
I love this game, but you'd be very stupid to not think this game isnt gunning for your money at the end of the day.
This will be bad for hoyo (they will get less income) but this is good for the player in any way shape or form. They will not reduce rates on free gacha stuff; if they did, they know a lot of players will quit playing. Especially because star rail already gets more than what you get in genshin. But, thinking about it this will not just affect genshin. It will also affect star rail and other games. If there is a way to get a 5 star by spending at a specific cost, then I think f2p players should have the courtesy to also have such a thing or at least more primos. Most f2p are young; probably aged 10-16. It's fun for them to be able to do something without spending money from an emotional standpoint. Or at least give a chrismas gift; a free standard 5 star. It's not much, but most are very well usable and hey I'm sure they'd be happy with it.
I hate the fact that I have to wonder if they'll be equal about this throughout all servers. This company has shown extreme disrespect to anyone other than Chinese, despite the China being only 15% of their revenue.
The only reason the community is scared they won't be equal is because for so long we have not gotten our money's worth out of this game.
For those wondering, according do IGN Genshin makes up 73% of Hoyos revenue. But I can honestly say, between the 3 games, we don't have 73% worth of content, QoL, prices, or giveaways compared to the other 2.
If they do this, I will understand if thus becomes the point where most of us walk away. Enough is enough.
There's no reason a company we made 80billion dollars for should be making us worried. I, personally, am prepared to walk away if they disrespect us one more time.
If this happens trust me genshin will die
i don't agree with the part with "reasonable drop rates". I think the drop rates for a 5 star character are pretty reasonable (not for weapon banner tho), if they will make the pity system lower and maybe every character to be guaranteed there will be no hype like getting an early or when you actually get the character that you want. And i will spend more knowing that i actually can get what i want with my money, now i only spend some when i know i can get the 5 star (when i have a guarantee or high pity)
Alot of the regulations that are planne there, are very good, and would finally draw the toos of the predatory greedy tiger, that those gacha games are.
Its just absurd and scammy, to call a game free to play, when it then offers content, that you can't get free at all, but only by the means of being forced to use the Gacha.
This includes 5s Characters, 5S Weapons, specific 4s Weapons. There should ALWAYS be at least 1 alternative way for the player to EARN those things, even if it takes much longer time, but players should have that option, only then you can really say, the game is completely free to play. Other MMORPGs like FF14 oder GW2 also have such kind of longterm quests, that reward the patience of the player with awesome things. When games liek those can do it, then can gacha games too and in comparison GW2 is also a F2P MMORPG!!! so a real MMO, not such a cheap wannabe MMO like GI, where the game hasn't seenin in freaking 3,5 years a single improvement to the Coop-Content and Mechanics/UIs, because lazy greedy MHY just gives a fuck about coop…
if these changes go through, then would MHY finally be forced to make substantial changes to the whole monetization model of the game in order to keep it free to play, if they suddenly arent allowed anymore to make Daily Login Rewards (Welkin), arent allowed anymore to to Battle Passes, aren't allowed anymore to do Top Up Bonis to incentivize players to buy Ingame Currency with RMT, they'd have to come up with a new form of incentivation that isnt agaisnt the laws to bring the people to spend money, that also doesnt feel predatory, or people will just quit the game in masses, if its too aggressive.
The Game would need to become more generous in order to survive these changes, plus they would need to introduce finally more alternative money income optionss, if Welkin and BP fall off, something likely will replace these things then, to compensate for the loss of income.
The easiest n best solution I can think of, is completely reworking the Banner System.
I spent $270 and got a C0 Dehya and C0 Navia…
Yeah… Id call that unreasonable
This feels so weird because it seems like there's every chance it makes things better for players, but an equal chance it turns things into a Diablo Immortal Whales Only situation
I would argue resin is already an anti addiction measure as it restricts the amount of activities you can do daily.
instead of just selling the 5 stars with cash what if they can use a different currency for the shop of a certain amount (converted from pulls) in its like getting 90 pulls with 1 or 2 fourstars each set (10 wishes) it can guarantee you a 5 star available on the shop.
Wouldn't this only affect the chinese servers, alot of the reason why they moved was because they didn't want to have the whole game effected by laws of the one place. That's why only in China the skins to cover up are mandatory everyone else just got it as an added extra.
They may hate it but this is a company they aren't gonna willing lose that much money when they don't have to, they may lose a few whales, but dolphins are like 50/60% of most spenders, and alot of whales aren't just in China, it's rather lose some or lose a whole hell of a lot more because they go elsewhere
I am sorry to interrupt you from your dreams but they will 100% make a different version for china. There is simply no benefit or reason for them to make these changes global
I am concerned about the changes to the drop rate and daily rewards. These changes could potentially result in a situation where we lose commissions and receive fewer pulls. While this may increase the value for paying players, free-to-play individuals might find it challenging to resist spending. This could make the system less punishing, but much more predatory.
Can you make a video about how the F2P players are affected by this?
I think about it this way: Genshin essentially charges a fortune for characters and weapons and lives on the backs of the whales. With the (huge) player base that Genshin has, if you charge like 80 USD for a 5-star wouldn't it increase the player purchase rate a lot? I imagine more people would buy stuff. Especially current players who know how much people used to pay for stuff in comparison with the new "low" prices (depending on how low they'd be).
At the same time, if they push for whales to spend so much then I guess it's still more lucrative π€·ββ
I hope it doesnt affect the free to play so much….
Was the the change to HSRs BP (immediately getting the stellar jade) a case of Hoyo pre-empting these regulations?
Hmmm…. I wonder if – in the case of all the points regarding minors – Hoyo would get away with it if they made some of the options in the game age-gated. What I mean by that is – you give your age when registering the account and minors would have some of the options simply blocked or limited, while people of age would not have those limitations. In this case, if (obviously possible cases) someone fakes his or her age and states that they are of age, but in fact are still minors, this is not the responsibility of the developer anymore, right? The problem might be solved with the the ID-verification mentioned later. But this might actually cause a whole lot of other problems in Europe due to GDPR laws. Personal IDs contain very sensitive personal data, that is protected by GDPR and Hoyo would have to confer to the data protection laws to continue operating in the EU… As a player in Europe… it kinda makes me worry more than e.g. losing daily rewards, etc…
As for the "direct purchase" option – it is possible that (and this is something I've seen in some other games in the past) that the price of the "direct purchase" items might be so high, that it would still be more reasonable for some to try their luck with gacha instead of buying the item or character directly. It all depends how this new law would regulate the prices of such direct purchases – if at all.
Also about your statement at the end that the game will get more popular and earn less money – I think that the developers might ACTUALLY also benefit from that, or at least get even after such changes. More players, even if they pay less, might still balance itself out in the end financially.
No,if the age restriction comes,I will not be able to play for a few years.πππ
13:00 how will u get star glitter without wishing though.
"Anti-game addiction" or whatever does make complete sense. That's how games like CoD, FIFA, LoL and most live-sevice games pull you in. Instant gratification that exploits the player's dopamine. This is also why young men are the most addicted type of people when it comes to games, because younger men also have this natural drive for competition. Games exploit this. When I was addicted tl GTA Online I would play for hours and get extremely competive when other users killed me or cheted.
Idc if Genshin goes away from china completely bc i love this game way to much
What rates would be adequat? I think its best to approach this from the other direction. How much more primogems would I need to get playing the game to still feel like I need to save for something while not feeling like I'm getting showered with rewards for no reason. Because at the end of the day (at least for me) resouce management is a big part of the enjoyment. I think per patch primos should be upped by about 2x the regular primogems. At that point you get enough primos per patch to secure at least one 5* of your choice (with welkin), and saving up for c6 would still be a task, but not wtf it is now. C6 for a single 5* currently takes more than a year with welkin and this would cut it down drastically. And with the big amount of 5* in the game I feel like they need to do some inflation anyways if they want to keep casual players happy.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
I think these companies will start finding new ways to monotize the game. For example, no more free expansions.
