  1. I don't know if you've been told yet – but the last big thing on the Genshin Promotional Content train left is the Character/Story Teasers – which are honestly excellent. Do those and you've completed the mainstay Genshin stuff.

  2. So for the weapons, there are five weapon types in Genshin that playable characters can wield.

This first one is "Sword". This includes all kinds of swords, blades, katanas etc. that you can use with only one hand.

The second one is "Bow". Bows & arrows.

The third one is "Claymore". Big swords that require both hands (Scottish claymore), clubs, bats, etc.

The fourth one is "Polearm". So basically spears, lances, all the weapons with a long stick (pole) are included, such as the Japanese Naginata (that's the weapon that Raiden Shogun uses), or even harpoons.

The final one is "Catalyst". Like Tom guessed in the video, it's for spell casters. Despite that all playable characters in Genshin are technically sorcerors that use the power of elements, catalyst users doesn't do any physical damage at all. Their normal attack and heavy attack are also elemental. Catalyst weapons usually appear as magic books, but some can have other forms (like bracelets).

And for characters, every character has a weapon type they prefer. Take the Traveler (MC) as an example. The Traveler, no matter which one you choose, uses only a sword. It can be a knife, a sword, a blade, a katana, or any other weapons that are classified as "Sword" by Genshin.

But in certain cases, some characters will switch weapon when using their Elemental Skill/Burst. For example, despite that Raiden Shogun uses a polearm in usual cases, when using her Elemental Burst, she pulls a katana out of her chest, and will keep using the katana for a certain period of time.

  3. Each character has set weapon type. For example Candace is a polearm user, can't use other wepons but you can give her any of polearms in the game.
What you watched today isn't even in the game yet (update is on 28th) but even if you start playing today, I guess it'll be a while till you be able to visit those desert areas. So if you're curious, just give it a try. It's free and you will soon understand many of the things you're asking about.

  4. "I'm getting very much Attack on Titan Scouts vibes" – Actually an excellent pickup there. What your looking at in that scene is the Knights of Favonius, a Order of Knights based on Medieval Germany's Teutonic Order inside their Headquarters. Whereas the civilization of the Walls in Attack on Titan is ALSO based on Medieval Germany. So yeah – the Survey Corps & the Knights have the same cultural inspiration – that's what you were picking up.

And as for Mamma Sherlock, she was correct: The first half of the 3.1 Trailer is focused on the newly released region of Sumeru, which is a blend of Middle Eastern & Northern Indian cultures – whereas the second half features the region of Mondstadt, based on Medieval Germany.

  5. Wonderful reaction as always! It's always a delight to see you guys upload haha

    As for a recommendation, I recommend reacting to a few cut scenes or animations, especially of limited time events. Genshin honestly has some really good story and very heart warming writing and it's a shame that some of it are locked behind limited event stories that new players would probably never experience. Here's a mixed bag of a few ones I love to get you started;

-Age of Flowing Hues; Fleeting Colours in Flight Event Cutscene
    -Tsubaki in Thawing Snow trailer
-Story Teaser: Only Old Memory Remain (STORY QUEST SPOILERS, tho probably difficult to understand without any context)
-Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser: A Winter Night's Lazzo
-Story Teaser: Flavors of the World
-Story Teaser: A Solitary Pursuit of Lighting (STORY QUEST SPOILERS, but I love it so much so I wanted to recommend it huhu)

I've been playing genshin for nearly 2 years and I hope you guys grow to love genshin as much as I do, and have as much fun with it for the duration of your stay in this community

  6. Fun fact: Cyno, the guy with Anubis-themed mask from 3.1 trailer, is very well known in the community because he appeared in the genshin manga comic and in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview as a character representing his region, Sumeru. So, he's a very long-awaited character

  7. Catalyst is weapon used by the mages in Genshin like Klee, Lisa, Barbara, etc…
Each character can only wield 1 weapon. Example, Candace and Cyno can only wield Polearm/Spear weapon. Dori, Diluc, Razor can only wield Claymore. Venti, Tighnari, Collei, Tartaglia(Childe) can only wield bow. And so on.

  8. The hype for the 3.1 update is unreal. In the dedicated live they also announced a future playing card game mode AND an actual anime.
Oh, also if nobody told you already: the cutscenes and animations you see in these trailers are all made with the in-game engine (no pre-rendering). Which means the game just looks that good. It is probably one of the biggest flexes a videogame can make.
I'm loving your reactions, by the way!

  9. Theres another game by the same company thats called Honkai Impact that has some amazing animations. Though it is connected the Genshin in a way, it is very different and is really high quality so I would really recommend checking those out. If you like them then the version trailers for that game are also very interesting to check out as well.

  10. To mumjsherlock. If you use a bow in this game, then you have infinite arrows no need for ammo management. Since I'm talking about this I may as well explain the whole thing. You can tap the attack button to rapid fire directly at nearby enemies without aiming, or you can hold attack to enter an aiming mode, if you hold an arrow in aim mode it will charge and eventually turn into an elemental arrow. Some characters, at this point Ganyu, Yoimiya and Tighnari, can overcharge their arrows to produce unique effects. There is also no limited mana system for magic casting.

  11. Each character has a choosen weapon, but they can equip any weapon of that type. So for example a one handed sword user can only equip one handed swords, but they can equip any one of them.
However every weapon is different in stats and most have a special ability. So you have to pick one that suits that character's skill set.
As an example: Kazuha is a character whose main stat is "elemental mastery". So you wants a sword that empowers that or fits her overall playstyle. As his personal damage is not that good, there is no point in using a weapon that increases your damage on him.
It gets complicated because some characters have unique skills that conver one of their stats to another. As an example, the character Hu Tao is main dps character but you actually want as much HP on him as possible, because his skill turns his HP into attack power.

As for the 3.0 and 3.1 story. It is taking place in the county of "sumeru" which is divided in half. One half is a rainforest, where culture and building are influenced by arabic and indian culture and a dsert area based on ancien Egypt.

  12. So, about the weapon, each character is well versed in one type of weapon. For instance, Cyno is a polearm fighter, you can't get him to use a sword. However, there are a lot of different polearms that you could use on Cyno (some of them are good, some are bad for him). Good news, though, you don't have to find arrows for the bows, your stack is always full, no matter how many you use.

  13. That came out faster than i would have expected haha , a nice surprise nonetheless.
Alright , now the Version 3.1 will go live on 26th September if I am not mistaken .
You can't equip different weapons on the same character . Each character uses only one type of weapon
Also , you guys forgot about the Genshin Anime trailer , if you can add that somewhere in your upcoming videos it would be lovely .

Also , as a side note , there was a Genshin concert for the previous year anniversary you guys can watch it if you wanna experience some of the music in game

  14. Also , I forgot to mention , the text that you see in the 3.1 trailer at 16:16 reads as " I see You " in the language that Sumeru uses . And yeah please upload the Teyvat Storyline , the story teasers , the chapter interlude : A winter nights Lazzo whenever you can , I would love to see your reaction videos of those too

  15. watching you both react to Genshin has really been lovely! Really enjoy seeing y’all engage with a game I adore.
Word of warning as an experienced player, when you do start playing, the first update(5-6 weeks) that you play, don’t expect to do the update limited events. They’re level-locked and usually at the beginning you’re busy exploring the game and doing the main quests.(it’s definitely possible! but with the pace you’d have to go I’m not sure it would be that fun.)
The livestreams for new updates, which is when the trailers get released, usually are about 12-13 days before the update drops, so 3.1 is going to hit around the 28th(depending on where you live).

Also, I’m not expert but iirc the reason the new gold spear looks blunt is that it’s based off a ceremonial spear used by Pharaohs.
